Andy will you be going to capture any photos?

This sums it up for me
copied from the press release
"The people involved in the project are world class riders and development engineers so the burning desire to be the best lives on within them. I

Im no expert on this but i think all trials bikes are bleeding expensive these days. I dont mind the high price so much , its the resale value after 2 years that kills me.
If the JTR is Ossa money then it might scare me but if its inline with GasGas and Beta id jump in.Bearing in mind its designer who is for me the greatest Trials rider , the JTR is a bike worth waiting for .
The website only has digital pics . I hope theyre further on than that. Im sure they are .
Where is it then - come on Any more news.Anyone know anything.
Id be happy to test ride it for you - Steve

Heres a link to the parts book manual for your bike. It doesnt show the bike set up ,but it may help.

Is that official Eddie?.
If so ,its a pity ,but they were always up against an almost impossible task to offer a credible alternative.
They'll be collectible in 10 years
-
Nice bike mate. They revolutionised the trials world. It looks mostly original apart from the blue rims, but they look good.
Just tell the missus you deserved it

They claimed that a bike had never been stolen from one
Thats cos noones got one

For the past 2 years 4 bikes that i own have suffered with petrol fumes seeping through the plastic tank skin , bubbling the expensive paintwork on the outside.Over time plastic tanks become fractured very slightly and also seem to become more porous.
Bearing in mind the amount of time , money and frustration this has cost me i set about finding a solution.I did a lot of research and visited 2 companies that are not motorcycle connected.
I am trialing 2 products on 2 different tanks at the moment. Both are 3/4 full of standard mixed semi synthetic unleaded. 3 months in , i have no bubbling on the fresh paintwork and no bubbling inside the tank as well , like the other posting.
The 2nd tank needs longer to from any opinion.
One of the products is a little to thick to get around tank without much help(It can be done but isnt ideal).
The other product is thick but runs around the tank with a 350ml application. Both provide a thick coating internally.
Ive learnt a correct procedure for getting what i believe will be the best results
Im going to leave it another 3 months and then go from there. If they havent bubbled ill let you guys know.
If they do bubble ill try more coats.Finger crossed.

I had the problem once on a small 50 cc 2 stroke.
The problem turned out to be the throttle spring above the slide wasnt tensioned enough and it would rise when it fancied causing the revs to rise sharply.

Ive been having problems with bubbling paintwork on plastic(not fibreglass) tanks. Its highly annoying after so much effort goes into paintwork No matter what sealer i put on the outside the vapour from the petrol seeps through and bubbles the paintwork on the outside.
I read the report on Caswells and it sounds good stuff , but ive not tried it ,so i dont know fropm first hand experience.
Personally i have used epoxy fibreglass resin. This is not the usual polyester resin you buy in B and Q or autofactors etc with matting.
Polyester resin breaks down under imersion in petrol. Epoxy resin isnt effected by petrol at all and sets rock hard in a few hours.
It is mixed 50/50 . If you heat the mix in a metal tin , and heat the plastic tank slightly with a hair dryer at the same time, it all stays fluid enough to coat the tank thoroughly inside , but goes thick quickly.I used about 350ml to complete one tank. Now its hard you can see a 2mm thick coating inside and appears to have done the job brilliantly.
It goes rock hard and clear
I got mine from http://www.elichem.co.uk/c-7-products.aspx in Cranleigh. I visited them and i got 500ml of the hardener and 500ml of the resin free as a sample.
I wouldnt even bother painting a plastic tank without using this stuff in the future. Theres just to much to loose

My Spanish is very poor. My catalan even worse. Ive tried internet translating but with its not making much sense.Something about Champagne and small World championship ?
Can anyone translate what is written here ?
-
I cant say id heard of Jordi Soler - well done
This is a pic of him

I recon youve got enough space to use a helicoil.
It looks like there is a crack from the hole your worried about to the bearing , or is it my eyes. It's probably just a surface mark.
I've been helicoiling today and they don't use much space , only 2 mm on each side of the hole.

Isnt the buy on the right Pascal Couturier ? He was a twinshock Merlin rider and there arent any left to choose from that im aware of
-
Well done Kramit! Ive no idea who the guy is on the right as well. He's perhaps a minder or national rider - Who knows -
-
It would be useful to see a picture so we can see what your up against.
There must be a way to sort the existing one.Which bolt is it and what does it hold?
Heres a link to compare part numbers if you can translate the Spanish

This poster on hardboard came from the wall of the old Merlin factory.
Can anyone name all 4 riders and if so , who are they? I think i know 2 , but thats all.

Hi,
I've got a fiberglass seat base.
Ive got a foam seat pad which sits perfectly on it.
The challenge that I have is when I wrap it in vinyl I'll need a good finish so need it tight in place.
How do I hold the edges down , tucked underneath??
Fiberglass won't staple will it?
Glue won't stick well enough.
I could screw it in many places.
Is there a better way?.
-
I've got a white plastic petrol tank that's turned yellowish with the petrol vapour over the years.
Is it possible to get rid of this yellowing to restore to its former beauty and if so how?
Many thanks

Here are the options
For the most hard wearing and shiny finish its got to be powder coating.
For the glossiest and most bling finish , get your local body shop to paint in 2k or acrylic paint , apply decals , then laquer. This will not be quite as hard wearing as powder coating though.
For the cheapest , arsole paint from Halfrauds. But it'll power was off, and scrape off quickly
Id go for 2k if your down south, but if your near rocks powder coating

Another useful guy to have around was Phillipe Berlatier. He was easily provocked .
I met him at breakfast in a Girona Hotel by chance earlier this year. On his way out i said "Are you Phillipe Berlatier". He replied "Yes".
All i could think to say was
"You were a very good rider. I remember .. your the rider who punched an observer in the USA".
He replied "No , not me"
"It was Germany"
It might have been the other way round , but the effect was the same.

Eddy,
Ive read that you 20psi in the tyres and take the load off the tyres(put on a stand)
Place a tablespoon of oil down the plug hole.
Drain the petrol and carb
Lube the cables
Clean the filter of all oil as they deteriate with oil on them.
Buy those cheap polythene dust covers and cover the bike competely. Then cover with a sheet to protect from UV.
Duck oil all metal parts , but not the rubber as oil deteriates rubber.
Most important of all - lock it to the floor and alarm it.
Theres probably more

Good luck Jim, i,m glad you didnt sell it for spares
