Jim Evans from www.honda-trials.com gave me his content when he closed his web down .
It might be here

It might not be down to the money . It may be that he simply prefers enduro and thinks his skills will give him an advantage. I hope he does well.

I do agree with you ...so maybe my comparison to old bikes was not so good as loads fell by the wayside .
But I dont think these new fi bikes will last . Carb bikes can be rebuilt easily and parts adapted and scabbed from other models.....BUT try entering the invisible world if electric gizmos and adapting a fuel pump from another model ..or a multi level ignition pack from another model and repairing or replacing those components ...... way way after the companies are gone or the spares have stopped ....NOT a chance .....The bikes will be readapted back to carbs to get them running again .....and thats if its possible . My experience of 2 stroke fuel injected bikes has not been good and ive not rushed and spent the money ...really thinking through ways to repair .After 3 or 4 years the running gear and engine is still good but the pumps are knackered and the injectors are all milked up and useless . Everything is £100 + a shot so its not cheap ....and thats if you can get the parts. Add onto that harsh riding environments and cleaning environments - pressure washers and .......well.....ive already said it. Water gets anywhere , and its screws everything ...as it did to the "sealed coil" of my near new Scorpa easy during a wet ssdt. Technologically we might have developed computers gadgetry and be advancing at a great pace on this front ......but the stuff still fails all over the place. The ECU on my van has just died after 3.5 years ---thank God the company is still going . Are trials manufactures employing technology more reliable than this ?.....Not a chance
But i bet its beautiful to ride and for the first few years it will be spot on
-
Yes Crazy .. Your right. What will 2 years of jet washing from 6 inches away does to those gadget bits ?.
I doubt very much that this latest generation of FI bikes will be around in 40 years time like Bultaco. But that's a long way off ... so who cares
-
Exactly ... It seems to me the electric bike manufacturers have been taking the mickey to date... as the current crop are so minimally developed. Once the Mecatecno comes out its going to make the others look so bloated and low tech . It is a game changer believe me.
-
Its no secret that my favourite bike is the Mecatecno Dragonfly , so when i heard a little about there being a new adult sized electric bike bearing the same name i was very interested .
I fired off a message to Jordi Mila who is the owner of Mecatecno. He also has a nice collection of original Mecatecno's as well....but that is another story ...but its clear where his inspiration for the company name came from . The new Mecatecno and Jordi lives in the same town as the original founder of Mecatecno and he bares the same christian name.....anyway i digress . Jordi Mila has a design company on the same premises above the electric bikes factory where he designs all sorts of things. He designed the new Montesa freeride bike , the 4RT plastics , the complete TRS , amazing furniture , humidity and temperature controlled atom bomb shaped electric gadget cigar storage units for the discerning smoker .....and pretty much anything else he lays his hands to . He is one of the more switched on cookies i have come across. With 5 kids all running around i guess he has to be .
I got a reply inviting me along . He didnt ask me to write anything ..im just doing it , because it deserves saying .
The project that he is fully immersed in is the adult sized Mecatecno Dragonfly which is in fully working 2nd prototype form. This guy is pushing the development of trials bikes forward no end and has designed the bike from he ground up. Yes , there is no engine sound for us petrol heads ...but this bike could be the bike that tempts me and you .
Although its electric the whole bike's ethos is to keep the riding experience the same . You wont be missing anything on this bike .
The engine is entirely custom Mecatecno with nicely cast and engineered casings. The engine is completely different from the current crop of electric trials bikes and is being designed for trials .....but its also suitable for road work .The weighs 54kg . The seat height is crazy crazy low. That whole area where the engine is on a normal petrol bike , is just tiny tiny tiny here. It is all wheels and wheels...."Wheres that engine thing in the middle !?" . Im not allowed to say to much ....but the whole engine control of the bike is is far more traditional. You get my drift . Tested HP figures are more than ample. Im told it is like riding a modern bike , but far lighter and better.
Jordi says that photos of the bike will appear around May next year , but this could change .
Nope ..unfortunately it wont feature 3 spoke wheels like this baby of mine...but it'll be a lot lighter.
-
Ossa is currently up for sale for 3.5 million euros. If they dont get a taker will they consider splitting it up and selling it all off separately.
-
Ouch ---- Poor Michel and Olga - everything destroyed !
There was one hell of a lot of chemicals there. It would have been once hell of a toxic fire.
This is what is looked like before

Very interesting Tele. Thanks

I loved this so much i had to post it up . Not aimed at anyone before the paranoia sets in........just so funny ...cos its true and sums a load of us up :)

News from the GasGas workers group
Gas Gas ambitious plans for the coming years, as explained Torrot CEO Ivan Contreras, one an interview with ACN. The most imminent, recover next year the market leadership of trial. In 2016 2.000 bikes will be made, once tuning Salt plant is made, and the goal is to reach 4,000 units per year in 2018. In enduro, Torrot work next year on a new more competitive than the current bike to throw the market in 2017. Finally, a long-term project is a leap into the electric bike, taking advantage of technology Torrot. The first offroad Electric Gas Gas, however, does not have time.
Gas Gas not want to waste time in relaunching the brand and already before they can enter the factory has been working in the marketing of dirt bikes that will begin to make in Salt plant starting next year. At the recent trade fair in Milan, including several international importers they have already placed orders.
Similarly, Torrot team has contacted suppliers to as you start the factory is expected that this could be during the first quarter of 2016 to reach the necessary components for the assembly of vehicles.
This set-up of machinery, stop in recent months, it will be done in parallel to move to jump Torrot factory has Mataro and where he develops urban electric motor. For lack of space on the premises of the capital of Maresme, the company will maintain only the department of research and development.
In terms of production figures, in 2016 it is expected to make a total of 6,000 motorcycles, of which 2,000 are from trial setting, a thousand more endurance and 3,000 of MUVI model Torrot, an electric scooter connected at all times in internet and with a battery life of over 100 kilometers.
New models for the coming years
On the horizon of 2018, Torrot arises to achieve the 4000 Gas Gas trial bike, which would become the market leader in this sector; 6,000 motorcycles and 5,000 MUVI enduro. In the case of endurance, but first we will have to do a rethink of the model, does not convince the current owners of the brand
"The dirt bike is ready to industrialize and sell and we have actual orders, but the enduro needs improvement because it did not succeed in the market," said CEO Torrot, Ivan Contreras. In this regard, in 2016 there will be "a whole team to get a motorbike in 2017 competitive enduro".
With regard to future new models, the Enduro will be the first but not the only one. In the long term, the direction of Torrot provides a unique vehicle combining the best of both brands. "Gas Gas has a great international power and we want to take to get a motorcycle offroad power of reference, which will mark Gas Gas, but with technology developed Torrot".
Also in the pipeline are a new electric bicycle Torrot brand as well as a MUVI new developments made "carbon fiber to reduce weight and extend the autonomy".
13 MEUR investment and recovery workers
As for the announced investment and commitment to revive Gas Gas -13,000,000 euros over three years, he explained that Contreras will go to three games. A small party will improve the software, production controls and thus guarantee a "production quality".
A second package will be circulating money Torrot used to deal with the purchase of components needed to manufacture the bikes, while the third part will be devoted to trials competition and the introduction of professional pilots. "Gas Gas is a leader in the competition and maintain the level should reverse in the market," said Contreras.
Moreover, in addition to the 55 former employees of Gas Gas who can keep their jobs, there will be another 30 to move into a job market that "will be the first hire" when the company has the need to expand the workforce. The forecast for 2018 is to reach 80 workers.

These are fork springs not rear shocks

I got mine from angel Delay in Martorelles

GasGas has remarkable brand loyalty and whether they are small improvements or not buyers will be queuing up for new models.
Ossa also have developed a keen following but just not enough. They'll need more investment from perhaps regional government "keen to create employment and spearhead a tech revival in Catalunya involving or course cad design students to help with model improvements , which will educate them in the process. With your investment this incredible design will succeed ". And.... they're back on the merry go round .All sound familiar ?. We will see. It'll be a huge pity if they can't work it out, but they have no right to exist and we all know the market is tiny and not growing. Surely the correct approach is to enjoy what we got from the new Ossa and let it lie, allowing the new companies a bit of space ?. The term flogging a dead horse comes to mind. They've had their chance and time had shown they unfortunately weren't viable.

Now ive seen the video again and looked into it , you do have to take kstart and casing off.
Hope its useful to someone

Hi Mick. I've had / got this problem also. It's only when you are stationary . If you move the gear lever slightly the opposite was to the gear you want.... and then go to select your gear , it goes in fine. I just put up with this minor inconvenience (for me).
I discussed this problem with a factory mechanic. He said the reason was because swarf interfered with the 3 tiny 2 mm x 2 mm spring loaded pegs of steel which sit on the outside of the selector drum. The tolerences are so tight that this apparently makes a difference abs makes the little pegs jam in place inside the drum so they cannot spring out and protrude and do their job of moving the drum and changing gear.
He showed me how to cure it and I videod it , which I have around somewhere , which no doubt you'll be aching to see.. and I'll try to find when I have time. Take the round clutch case off and remove the plates and basket. The orings are reusable. There is a ring on the top of the clutch basket which is shaped in a way that when it spins and oil runs through it , tiny swarf is caught in it. This needs removing and cleaning. It is designed to clean the oil to some extent and I'm told gg also have this. This ring is not your issue although the fact that it might be bunged up , might be. It needs cleaning.
The little teeth also need blowing out with an airline. I can't recall if you can remove these.
I'm told this should sort it ... but is something that you'll need to repeat.
It's one of the side effects of lighter smaller engines. Wouldn't have happened on an Ossa Mar with tolerences of 1/8" ! .
Anyway this is what I know about this issue to the best of my knowledge. Don't shoot the messenger and good luck.

I love this old bike history. Charlie and Deryk thanks for sharing what you guys know. I know Sammy's museum would like another biography completed in the colour / photo magazine style of Sammy's bike collection book. It's because the Mick Walker (RIP) which I really enjoyed in their opinion just isn't that visually appealing. There's also the challenge of getting Sammy sat down long enough to get any useful information. He's always thinking of a bike that needs mending . I suppose there's a mountain of work to complete always there.
-
Thank you Derek and Charlie for that information. Ive read your posts about 30 times trying to glean as much as possible . Its very interesting and adds meat to the bone , from people right there.
So a sneaky Bulto first competitive ride out for Sammy. Impossible today ..but these were different times.
"This was Dan Shorey's play toy for the winter months to help him keep fit.
We did a lot on this Sherpa N to try and and make it better has a one day trials machine.
However there were a lot of faults with the bike and the gears that have been mentioned were a pain at braking and I seem to remember a special set was sent to try and solve the problem."
Was Dan a Bultaco sponsored rider then to get these parts ?
Was he predominantly a motocross riders or .... ?
Were many others of these Sherpa N's imported ?
Im guessing Sammy got a big head start on modding ideas with Dan's bike then
-
Yes Bezaboy. He has some nice old bikes.
Yes old trials F. Slowly but surely the World is moving on .I don't know anything about British 4 bangers and the time will come when the little niche I love so much had been forgotten also (Not for a long while yet though) ... sob sob. .... Look what you've made me do !!!. I've got all soppy lol.
-
There had been no news of Ossa in the recent GasGas new future headlines. It maybe that Ossa has fallen by the wayside ...or it may be that Ossa is all part of the package to the new buyers .
Joan Roma the joint Ossa boss was happy that i take these photos of the 2016 Ossa prototype. I visited the seperate R and D department by chance literally on the last day of its operation. The last mechanic there named Paco Roldan had already been offered a job with TRS and he showed me around , shutting the doors after for the last time . There was noone else working there. There was lots of other stuff present including Ossa's for sale including a green Magnesium framed bike . Ive been told by a few people since the mag frames bikes could snap under heavy use.
The price was pretty reasonable ---- i'll regret not buying it
-
Yes . As we all know Sammy is restless and constantly changing one thing after another after another . Even much lesser riders change forks so its a given that Sammy would be tinkering with this and everything else ... continually.
-
I recently was approached by a gentleman who said he had without knowing bought Sammy Miller's first Sherpa T Bultaco . Later when he grew suspicious of his bikes history he went to great lengths to discover the truth and to authenticate his bike as the real deal. The story is very very interesting and should give all those who think they have a special bike , hope of discovering its heritage .
This exact motorcycle changed the history and entire course of our sport . The previous heavy four stroke British Trials machines were unfortunately made redundant almost overnight , by this Bultaco , which heralded the start of the Bultaco and Spanish Trials trials invasion. Simply put ...this bike gave reason for the bike class and term "Pre 65" .
You can read about the detail of this bike and the story of the investigation to find the truth , here on my hobby web.

-
I see Dabill wasnt in the photos. Whether they admit it or not , its likely his noise is out of joint following the Fajardo signing. Even Mecatecno Melcior Estorch turned up
-
The V trials bikes dont do it for me but .... I like that Ursus a lot .It got a big chunky Yorkie bar look . Im in the market for a new road bike at the moment so if the price is right ...i might .
Vertigo have just shown their plan of survival - diversification.
Is that engine their own ? Anyone know the capacity ?
-
They have done plenty for me and all worked out well and have turned it round in a week + post. They cut into and mend components I never thought possible.
