Canada - Ossa was an example of a company created with the aim of milking the EU handout cow. The guys behind the company were well oiled weathered businessmen not passionate enthusiasts . The money they'd get on the sale of bikes was nothing compared to the cash they obtained. From day one the company never stood a chance of survival past any period of grants and subsidies . People were taking as much as they could . Ossa was not about making bikes . It was about generating confidence to borrow more and more.It was about borrowing big money and writing it off ... and asking for more. They were walking dead way before the GG merger. The merger just had them on life support for a while.
The customers have passion for the bikes , the owners did not. It was a vehicle to obtain grants from a flush EU.

Buying a ring only might be difficult ....but not impossible
I have to cope with this problem with Merlin , Mecatecno and Alfer . Often there is a piston that will fit ie RM 400 piston fits Mecatecno trial
You should measure the piston dimensions . The important dimensions are the skirt diameter and the crown height ( from top of pin to top of piston). Everything else can be adjusted.
Do some google searches based upon the bore size only and you might be surprised what turns up. Its worked for me . Remember also to translate you google searches and use google.it as the .com or .co.uk wont pull up the local stuff.
Good luck.

Yes...straight into MBX's.
Montesa boss Jordi Permanyer was the son of the founder Pere. Jordi negotiated the deal with Honda and the subsequent integration . He stayed with Montesa / Honda for many years after....so saw the old ...the new ..and all the change. He's as cool as a cucumber. He'd be good at poker ...his eyes dont tell you anything.
The family motorcycle collection is simply incredible. Ive photoed it all for the interview ive got coming out with him.

Ossa dont make anything (apart from debt) , they just have lads assembling bought in parts like the rest of them . Ive been to the factory a few times and the seperate competition dept .They've never had any tooling.
The TRS is safe because thats what they planned and that thats what most people want. GasGas was safe. Sherco is safe, Scorpa is safe. Ossa wasnt and they were finished as a potentially profitable company the day it was designed and certainly after gearbox and starting problems. The JTG side shock got forum members here fretting like old women. You dont get any old women fretting about GasGas rear suspension do you .
You see .... most of you need safe. You like the idea of radical ....but get scared when your about to open your wallet.
The TRS crew considered EFI but JT was against it . He didnt like the feel. Personally i dont trust it lasting . My experience is that it can also be to sharp off the bottom. That saying .....i did like the smooth Ossa power ....but not the unreliability. I was offered a brand new Magnesium framed model at the factory for silly low money ...but said no because of the risk of big big issues.
The TRS was designed locally by JT and Mecatecno's Jordi Mila.
The TRS magneto windings are attached to the inside of the casing.
The prototype TRS i rode had never seen before trials bike features on it. They might feature in future years.....but personally i dont think they were needed and just increased build cost and this has to be considered.
Good luck TRS. I think it will do well.....because it is safe.

Despite preperation the laquer will peel off bit by bit leaving it looking tatty in a few months. It's best to autosol the wheels every now and again. Doesn't take long

A short while ago i got to meet the longest serving Montesa competition Mechanic Paco Mateo at his home in Tarragona. He worked with Montesa from 1957 untill 1999 in thier competition / development department .
Paco was mechanic to late Diego Bosis in 1985 / 6, Philipe Berlatier in 1987 /88, Amos Bilbao in 1993 and 94, Andreu Codina in 1983,84,85 and 1986, 2 times World Champion Marc Colomer in 1990, 91 and 1992, 3 times World Champion Eddy Lejeune in 1989, Rob Crawford during 1991, World Champion Ulf Karlson from 1976 through to 1982, 3 times World champion Vrjo Vesterinan in 1970 and 1980, Pascal Couturier in 1989, Thierry Girard during 1990 and Gabino Renales in 1988, 89 and 1990 as well as Pere Pi.
He is a popular guy and pretty much mothered the younger riders as he accompanied them around around the World .
In addition back in the early days Paco worked with ....and watched Paco Bulto leave Montesa to start his own firm .....in controversial circumstances. He prepared the Montesa's for the legendary 1962 operation Impala and also one for the president of Honda.
He's done and seen a lot and if your interested i wrote up the interview for my hobby website

No he wont be but the pictures of the TRS bike should be out today or tomorrow ( famous last words )

S3 won't have suffered. Michele is no fool. He'd have seen this coming a mile off. ... and taken precautions.

The factory website is working fine . Try checking your computer

I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the completed bike but like the Vertigo there will be a gap between photo releases / test bikes and production bikes .

ts pretty obvious that as time drifts on from week to week and them month to month the likelihood of any announcement becomes less. If it was a no brainer opportunity people would have been all over it....but theyre not. The persons involved may decide to reveal thier decision in the future or they may not. Either way , its not what i had hoped for as a Jgas fan. All this has got nothing to do with the bikes. It might not be awful for the competition but it is such a horrible waste that the still fresh and relevant bike designed by the great rider Jordi Tarres does next to nothing. Ive given my advice months ago to the factory , but its not that simple. They need to change thier ways and bend over backwards to keep everyone happy.
JGas compares well to a humanoid. Refusing to stop and being constantly evolved until its destruction.
-
The Jgas 2016 drawings look nice and I'm told a production run is starting shortly . I hope ... but we will see.
-
True ....but he sent his GG over , so unless its been delayed he'll be riding his GG. He's very particular and wont just ride anything ....apart from SWM's.

I've a first edition large hub Cota 247. It is completely original and unmolested. I was never really interested in Montesa untill I met Pere Pi and the Permanyers. It helps to bring it all to life.
One day I'll clean it up but it sits with its young brothers.
-
Hi Andy
Have you cleaned out the carb now ?
You may have water still in the float bowl and it'll cause bad running from time to time. It wont go out on its own.
I have a 14 JTG 300 and had the same problem consistently after running through hub deep water for 50 yards or so. Steve Saunders had exactly the same problem in the same section as well.
Mine just died like it ran out of fuel .It was def a fuel starvation issue. It kept repeating itself on this section only. Then on the river bank it fired up again and was fine for the rest of the day in the other drier sections. It is strange and very annoying.
It was either caused by the sudden temperature drop to the engine and perhaps needed more fuel
or ...it had something to do with the breathers.
Id bet it was the breather pipes .
Id make sure your breathers are located a little higher and perhaps join one overflow to the other with a bottom hole cut out . This will keep the breather pipe up , on top of the engine and away from the water.
I would imagine this would cure it
-
Im sorry ...i get the most irrelevant post of the year award . I thought this was the JTG forum . sorryyyyyyyy
-
-
Mine also runs very well.I fitted a low compression head insert which speed pinking and aided high revs.
-
Allegedly !. Theres always someone somewhere starting a conspiracy
-
The difference is ... The banks claim to know what they are doing , where it's clear the Greek government don't have a clue and there is no way out of the mire for them
-
This could be the start of the new beginning , however we all have a tendency to confuse our love of the brand with viability.
Perhaps as a small company something might work.
Anything could happen.....

Isn't gasgas the same. It's unlikely to be unique to this bike.
