Evening all! I'm gonna say i'm new here, although i did joine in October 2010 with the aim of buying a trials bike.
Long story short, years back i was a half decent i guess, bike trials rider. I ended up getting into bmx which eventually took over, and then due to injuries i had to pack it in at the level i was riding, and kind of accidentally found myself racing a CBR600rr, and and R6 for a few years, and then last year a Fireblade.
In 2010 in the off season, i joined here with the intention of getting a trials bike, but due to a few racer friends getting into enduro riding and MX which is great training for road racing, i got a Yam YZ250 crosser....
To my eternal regret!
So anyway, i'm back and i AM getting a trials bike now. I spent the weekend om one of my best mates Beta's and once again found the love of trials after years and years absence, but the memories of Shipley, Addingham, Back Cown, Brimham and the countless other places i used to fall off bikes, came flooding back! He spent a lot of time helping me with the differences between what i know, from bike trials, and what i need to be doing on the motorised version! And a good teacher i have too in Sam Ludgate who i'm sure many will be pals with
So just saying hello, and i hope to first of all sap all i can from this forum regarding help and techniques, before becoming a part of the place and puttinga bit back in!! Can't beat a good forum!
Possibly mate but they are on the whole, road racing shops or distribution companies. Would've been easier if there was something going in the trials world to look at trials specific shops etc.
I have a road racing ACU licence, and with this i get discount at many many shops and companies, with Arai selling helmets with an official ACU discount at something like 40% off which is brilliant.
Does anyone know if this translates to the trials world??? I'm in need of boots and a lid when i get a bike, hopefully within the week. I've got to wear ACL knee braces so will be getting some mx pants to fit them under, and have gloves, but still, if i could save some dosh...
Thanks to all who have posted in here! I'm new to petrol powered trials and this has been a massive massive help in looking for a first bike. I've been glued to this forum over my night shift and god not much work done!

I'm a former bike trials rider, when i rode for about 5 or 6 years from 2000. Ended up riding for Monty/Cleanbikes, Plazmatic and Heatsinkbikes.com, so i may well know some of you guys??? I'm on www.Trials-forum.co.uk as Bongo too.
I ended up getting into bmx, which took over my life, and i rode bmx until a series of knee injuries put an end to that, and during my recovery from some operations, i bought a road bike, which soon put me onto the track, and for the last couple of years i've raced a Honda CBR600rr in the Hottrax National 600 endurance, and several different clubs. My bike is up for sale now as i'm getting a new bike for next year to race in the Thundersport Formula 600 series, which leaves me with about 5 months of no riding.
For 10 years i've thought it'd be nice to have a mototrials bike, so i'm taking the plunge, initially 'just for winter', although i'm sure it'll become 'whenever i'm not racing'!
If anyone has anything to help me along, i'm after a Gas Gas, Beta or Montesa for £1000-£1300. There are a few on ebay, but not knowing much, i'd much prefer a recommendation, private sale or classified ad where i can take my time to look and not bid on a gamble.
Looking forward to getting back to Back Cowm to begin with. used to live there most weekends on the push bike!!
