I for one cannot afford (and the wife wouldn't let me) a van and the associated running costs. Again another superb reason for some people (like myself) for getting a bike rack. I'd love a nice big van though and would if I could too

just to add, something I read on an MX site - apparantly some modern phones which have sat nav / positioning capabilities embed this information as to where a picture was taken - so if you take a pic of your bike outside your house and post to internet some scrotes can find where the pic was taken.
Apparantly (I have read this though, and I am gullable, but fortunately have a **** phone )

happens so often in mx circles....
I always check out what's behind me the last few miles home, and call it paranoid but I always drive a big loop to my road - for me where my house is it'd be pretty obvious if someone was following. If in any kind of paranoia I will even pull into a culdesac and spin it around, or pull up somewhere a reasonable distance away from my house and let everything in sight pass by.
For me it's worth a bit of extra petrol and an extra 10 mins rather than have scum break in and rob my stuff

used to be a fan when it was broadcast somewhere sometime when I had sky subs about 6 or 7 years ago and thought it was ace. Like you never found anyone else that had heard of it. Their loss....

I'd imagine
tyres - typically 8psi and more knobbles on mx = less contact patch
centre of gravity - lower on trials bike
weight - lower on trials bike
hill climbing as a sport is against a clock so they use some pretty powereful beasts in the states. I recon most of the stuff I've seen is a lot easier on a trials bike but at a slower pace.

a ) if they leak fuel they are 'overflowing'
b ) why isn't the mod to just shorten the tubes? -i think i read something about drop in pressure, but as I said i don't have both tubes, and i'd imagine the if the tube lenght were critical then the carb is working to some pretty crazy tolerances with the variable being the lenght of a tube!!!!

I can't go and have a look now, but I know I'm missing a tube or two off the carb so it's at least one from the top - but mine leaked and now it doesn't after the work I did????? Not saying I'm defo right as I'm deffo not an expert and it seems to have been discussed and figured out at lenght - just wonder how come I don't have a leak?? My bike didn't have a full set of pipes on the carbs when I got it and leaked, and I'm pretty sure the pipe is back on how it was. Surely it's not as easy to remove a pipe?
Only used my bike for a few hours on a mate's farm where he has some sections from where a club goes and also an 'enduro' loop with some whoops and table tops thrown in with some logs etc 3rd and 4th gear stuff opening it up. So I gave it some beans and didn't seem to have any fueling issues?? the only prob I had was I think one stall when the sumpguard splattered onto a big log and I stopped dead. I put that down to one of those things.....
I guess I'll never understand the alchemy of carbs, and fingers crossed mine stay good

I reckon trials bike riders probably own the greatest percentage of bike racks out there - so anyone on this forum ever actually have any problems with one failing? the plod? getting out of muddy fields with FWD?
If I get 10 replies giving 1st hand bad experience I'd be amazed....
For those not recomending the use of one, sure it may exceed nose weight... but as stated a really heavy load in the boot would have the same effect on handling, and has a bike rack ever failed?
They are easy and convenient for those without the money / space for a trailer

I got one of those the other day for what I think was a bargain - how much you looking at handing over for that one?
Mine had usual Beta carb issue which I sorted relatively easily by actually looking at what the carb and float bowl was doing - in my opinion (and my carb is now fixed and doesn't leak) the manuals I've seen show to set the float height by aligning to the top corner of the furthest 'turret' and I believe this to be wrong and probably why they all come out the factory with leaky carbs. A bit of trial and error and I got two carbs (got a spare with the bike) set up in 2hrs max. I think from memory I decided the float height was not the issue, but the fact the tab that pressures the float needle needed tweeking - not much but enough so it fully seated the needle when the carb was full. (it was not doing this and fuel kept p****** in even though the floats had maxed out and then found it's way out of the overflow tubes).
Haven't ridden mine hardly at all - only a few hours but it seems pretty perky. Apparantly mine had a recent new top end (haven't they all ) and does seem pretty good, starts first or second kick. Pulls well enough with no issues or unusual noises. Fan works as it should and all nuts and bolts still good.

I'd stay away from cotton tee shirts as cotton absorbs sweat. (chuck a shirt in the bath and see how much water it absorbs!! - or if you've ever got a sweat on digging in the garden then stop and have your cotton shirt cling to your back and get cold and claggy). Man made fibres are good at 'wicking' and dry fast - polyester, nylon, lycra etc (they'll come out of a washing machine practically dry and be ready to wear in an hour or so). Wool products (especially merino wool) are better but more costly, and they offer the best performace range (eg hot temps and when it's cold they are better than man made fabrics).
I work in an outdoor shop and sell and wear this stuff and believe me it's the way to go.
You could go as far as getting compression tops and legs, to aid recovery and improve performance.... people I know that use them can tell they make a difference.
I'm not going to say where I work as I'm not trying to plug anything here - just give some advice
