The best option would be a helicoil insert but the kits can be pretty pricey. Chemical metal resins are pretty good these days so if it is not got too big a load on it it's worth a try.
JB Weld or Plastic padding chemical metal are both decent.

Am I just being cynical, or do I detect a bit of enhancement there?

If you want to buy a gadget get a powerball

Thanks. That's what I needed to know.

Quick question, Should the discs on a Sherco have 'float' or not?
Cheers

It's unfortunate but you get inconsiderate people in every walk of life. I suppose even trials, with it's generally friendly atmosphere can't escape
Whats the damage like? I sometimes think it would be better to have a total beater so things like that don't matter so much.

Thanks for the advice chaps

I suppose it depends if you like old bikes or not?
Me, I do, so I'll be up for the pre-65 then the first couple of days of the SSDT. Can't stay for the whole week so this seems the best compromise for me.

WD40 is good for removing the water from your chain after washing, but I would follow it up with something more suitable to 'lubricate' the chain before the next ride.

What size of camelbak would you reccomend to carry what you need but not too big?

Fashion I guess would be the answer. They don't expect the jackets to be worn by trials riders, they just want some of the 'cool' factor.
And it's 1964 as that is when Steve McQueen and the American team bought them.
I have a Nato issued International which obviously comes without all the silly patches. It's a good jacket and mine has had a lot of wear, though not on the bike. Might have to give it a try.

Hope you have better luck with the TY

It would be hard to take serious action against the accused as there were no witnesses, unless he admitted to it. In which case sounds like a ban to me.
My experience suggests that sometimes you have to take what kids say with a pinch of salt though. It is hard when you see a child upset, but you can't always take things at face value.

Thanks Dan for the comprehensive answer. Gives some food for thought.

If your bearing comes apart and you need to just remove the outer race get a welder (arc is easiest for this job) and just run three evenly spaced short beads on the inside of the race (where the bearings used to run). The race will almost fall out after that.

Can't help you on the carb tuning but nice one about keeping the bike
Looks real nice in your sale advert.

Guess you're not gonna win the competition then
If it's any consolation, neither am I

Just been reading this with interest as I am due to collect an '06 when the weather clears.
Has anyone thought about brazing or braze welding this repair? Braze the crack then perhaps braze a gusset over the weak area. This would reduce the chance of heat weakening the surrounding area yet should still give a strong repair.
Any thoughts on this?

I am looking to buy a first trials bike and just wondered if a 125 would be too small for my 16st bulk? Been riding bikes for years but never trials before and it's about 12 years since I last rode off road, so not too sure if a recent-ish 125 would cut it.
Your thoughts are welcome.
Cheers.

Thats the one.
Cheers for the info. Really handy to know

Ah come on now. Gimme a chance. Only been registered a couple of days One day you might just wish I was still a lurker
As for the bike, thats about what I was thinking. I am prepared to go a bit higher, but not too much.
If you have any leads on other bikes about similar money I'd be happy to hear them.
Maybe see you at Gifford?
