    Honda Tlm 220

I am looking for a parts list or similar for a TLM. I also need basic info such as jetting, oil volumes in forks, gearbox, ignition timing, gearing etc etc. Thanks,
  2. 99.9% certain its a gas gas engine as well
  3. What is the basic difference, wheel rims and fuel tank plus full road gear? Is the engine frame the same. Thanks
  4. The trial has been cancelled yesterday due to legal problems with rights of way. Bl**dy beauracrats
  5. I think Marc is a very shy person. I spoke to him at length in Luxembourg a couple of years ago. Very interesting guy with a lot of experience and I think technically one of the best riders ever.
  6. Send the barrel to Nigel Birkett for porting. Ask for the Steve Possy replica that think sure sings!! Sorry didnt see you were in Aus. Birket is Scorpa importer for UK and Yam guru With care you can get a DT reed cage in the same whole by taking about 3mm off the vertical sides.
  7. World round in Belgium at Mons. Observer shouting at riders building a kicker in front of a step. Kicker removed. Kuroyama's minder builds new massive kicker. Observer runs after minder swinging fists and aiming boots at rapidly retreating backside. Kicker removed by observer. Minder slunk away Kuroyama fives section. No one else dared to build kicker. Observer Joel Robert that hard as nails 5 or 6 times world champion motocross rider!!! Honsetly it was very funny to see.
  8. What oil ratio are you running? Air cooled bikes need more oil that water cooled. I would use 40:1 instead of 50:1 and leaner.
  9. My thoughts entirely, if you are doing a test you should run all tyres at optimum pressures not just at the best pressure for the tyre manufactured in your own country........ or am I just cynical. In the text they did say IRC should be run softer so why on earth did'nt they do it. Also as I said not my test results but it should narrow the choice down between Mich and IRC if you believe them.

I rode a stock bike in a trial once about 2 years ago. What a belting little machine, need to rev the nuts off it but it is such a good engine. Perfect for novice riders. Have fun.
  11. BJ, In which way does the Scorpa "need development"?
  12. The french magazine did a test this month on about 7 tyres all pumped to 350g. Results Mich XII far and away the best, IRC also good, also suggested could be run softer, Dunlop not recommended for price, Mitas good value for money, Rest forget about. These are not my opinion's but a v.quick summary of the magazines findings. Personally I have just gone back to Mich after trying IRC and Mitas (1 trial was enough).
  13. I cracked mine skiing, 4-6 weeks to recover fully. Laughing was also painful.
  14. Woody, nice to see you basically confirmed my findings, see earlier post. You can ride it around in first gear on tickover without it stopping which I thought was quite fun, (if not that useful).
  15. At the last world round in Belgium in 2005 I saw a certain Mr Paxau kick a four stroke for 20 or 30 times before I got fed up and walked off. A video camera would have been so much fun. (and it still was'nt started when I left). He did the usual high tech bits like turn fuel off...then on...then off, look at it quisically give it a few more kicks repeat ad nausium. They swore blind it was fully sorted the day before. I still think the 2006 looks really nice.
  16. Does anyone have top and bottom yokes suitable for Showa forks for a 315. Or do you know of someone who is breaking one. Thanks.
  17. Somewhere on the Todo trial site is a description on how to do it.
  18. Seal swell... keeps some of the oil in.
  19. My point was a standard bike with Jap carb would ride in the specials class against this. I hate fiddle bikes as it means I cannot realistically compete on my bog stockers. The spirit of pre 65 e.g. cheap old bikes has long gone!.
  20. I have seen this bike in the flesh. The amount of engineering detail is incredible. He must have spent hundreds on hours on the project. However for me it is a heap of scrap, there is no reason to produce such a mutation as it gives a total wrong direction to the pre 65 modified class. Should anyone be forced to ride a standardish bike with a jap carb against such a thing. I think not.
  21. Mudgards contact Dave Renham at Bultaco UK. I have had 4 rears off him. The quality is pretty good and at 42 pounds not too expensive. WES do some replacement trials springs which will probably fit. Alternatively talk to a local engineering firm that makes springs, even one off's are relatively cheap providing you knoe I/D, O/D and rate.
  22. I had the pleasure of a couple of hours on the new four stroke at Birks emporium yesterday. The bike feels really good to stand on (much better than my 315). The steering is very neutral with no real top heavy feel on turns. The bike feels as wide as a Mont at ankle level which I do not think is a problem. The engine is super, real power if you open it up. It is smooth off the bottom end without any carb glitches. (Oh and it starts first or second kick hot or cold but takes an age to warm up from cold). It is certainly much quieter than a 4RT but still sounds like a good old 4 banger. I think it is way too low geared and could do the same tight sections in first, second or third. There are some real nice engineering touches as well. All in all a very nice bike.

Woody, Thanks for the description. I agree it is within the spirit of the rules. (Just look at pre-65 for real fiddle bikes). What electronic ignition are you running? This is one area I want to explore. I am playing with a 250 motor in a standard frame. I have a 1980 DT 250 barrel and boyesen rad reed cage. (About the same size as a mono cage but so smooth inside), 28mm modified Dellorto carb off a 315 Mont.). The porting is much more radical than TY as you would expect. Ports approx 2mm higher but slightly smaller. I do not use a head gasket. I have also machined most of the standard weight off the ignition and would like to go lighter. I want a much more modern snappy engine as riding modern bikes I get too close to steps etc before opening throttle. Do you have any plans or templates for the bigger airbox as I would like to make one.
  24. I spoke with Dougies mechanic about port timing. He definately said raise 1mm. May depend on year of bike.

Are you going to give a lowdown on the spec? I think I can see; Mono forks and wheels, Alloy middle box, Alloy air box. Mega leverage on rear brake pedal. What else is their. Engine capacity? Flywheel mods? Carb? C'mon spill the beans. Really nice job.
