Hi All ; (and LEE !)
I just moments ago bought a flywheel to replace my corroded one , and a FLYWHEEL WEIGHT to go with it . I have never heard of/or seen a flywheel weight for a 240 ... but with the extra added response and greatly improved overall power from the OKO carb that is now on the old girl, I beleive for my style of riding (no stop /no hop old school ) That abit more inertia and slowing of the pipey response of this little 240 that I so dearly love may be a good thing !???
? is has anybody ever had a weight on a 240 ??? or will time tell if I wasted my money ?But I got a set of forks and triple clamp W/ a bunch of other unobtainum peices for next to nothing , so I'll be a happy camper no matter what.
Also the top end I run right now has a whole lot of porting work done to it ... I compared it to the known stock spare cylinder I have when I ringed it last . STRANGE mods to the transfer ports on the barrel I run now ... Will post photo's next time I tear it down ... But It works !!!!

From what I've heard and read lately , the amero is already a idea that the powers that be are trying to implament...
But as a nobody w/ no economic background , I have to wonder ... Since the world went off the gold standard years ago , and no one seems to have anything real to back up the currancy they print . (except maybe land ? or oil ... )Why would it not make sense to have one currancy for the whole world so everyone is on the same page ? I mean cause with the advent of these things we're communicating on right now the world has/is becoming a much smaller place !!!! Who would've thought 15 years ago that You could need a rare part for your old motorcycle , turn on this nifty typewriter , and in 20 minutes find one 15 thousand miles away , pay for it and have it in your hands in a week ????
Interesting times we live in !!!.....
Glenn
And Paul , I've got one more TC sticker , besides the two on my trailer , I'll bring it w/me to TTC 's WR. I may timekeep / punch cards ?
But Andy I Really want a Fleece !?!?

! Contact trialcast ... their bracketts are quite robust , and I beleive they will fit any modern peg ...? Did a trial last weekend in snow and mud , my first event since I cut off the stock fantic pegs , And WHAT a differance with real footpegs under my boots !!! And after cleanup of the bike , the pegs are the only part of the old girl that don't show damage and wear from the nasty elaments I rode in ! Like the paint is gone on my forks at the hub on both sides , and the same on the swingarm !!! It's amazing how abrasive packed frozen mud can be !!!!

Only 1 can be the best ... although I've never ridden a current state of the art SWM jumbo ! But I will get my hands on one someday (to build !!)
And I've watched some pro caliber riders on my bike do things that I didn't think you could do on a twinshock ! boy am I getting old or what ...
But ride what you can !!!! it's all about the fun anyways !!!

Hi Lee , Yes it's one of Chris's OKO's , Got a swingarm shaft too for the next full teardown ... Carb worked great the bit I got to try it , mine leaked fuel out the bowl vent from the start . And after playing with the float level for the 4th or 5th time , in my haste I didn't have the bowl seated square on the body and cracked it snugging up the screws ! my own fault ... After putting the delorto back on and bringing the OKO in the house to inspect properly with a magnifying glass , I found a tiny nick in the tip of the needle !!! No ones fault but my own for not inspecting it closer when I first took it apart to adjust ! BUT I did ride the old girl (wilst turning gas on & off ) and I can say the carb swap is well worth the effort ! When the float level would approach were it should be , LOTS more response and Felt Quite abit more OOMPH down way low ! I can't wait to get the fuel level issue fixed and get it back on the bike .... And from what I felt his jetting is on the money , he ships w/needle in the middle clip position and up or down with that should be enough for any needed minor tweaking ... His airboot (aircleaner side) is SWEET , but I would recomend having a new intake rubber as you have to massage the carb on and fresh soft pliable rubber makes it a non issue ! but a old stiff one may crack ....
Glenn

Great job ! you should be proud of your work ! One more classic bike gets a second life ...
Glenn

Jay ; your right , the intake thing works on small bore 4t's , not reedvalved 2t's !... And it's my big brother , not my cousin and if I remember correctly? , he missed the same section on every loop , but other than that did quite well for a 15 or 16 yearold kid ! I'll check if he still has the zero sitting in his garage , I still owe him gas money for going to pick it up ... (I'll cover that ). But if I remember again , it's missing some crucial cooling components ? (radiator) but I was told it ran when parked ... And if you want it just head out that way and get it . I'll pm you with the details . I just can't bear to see a sport changing bike go comepletly to waste... and the zero was a turning point for trials bikes (I THINK). And one last note , have you contacted B&J racing for hopup parts for your hodie engine ? (flywheel weights , etc.) great guys and better service! And there always waiting to be fed ! never mind going out and catching it !!!

Squeek gone !!!!!!! the after market springs I had used on the last shoe swap were about 1 mm larger OD than the stock springs ! EBC shoes w/ stock springs and all is quiet and stops as good as drums will !!!!
Thanks for all the input !...
Now to put on the just arrived prejetted/flatslide carb for a try before next weekends event !!!
Boy I love to make perfection better ...

From one old mech. to another ; I think it's beutiful !!!! And if your interested my brother out in Baker City , OR. still has the beta zero that was given to me , might make a interesting project , or scrap metal.!!! you should contact him ,he's got a late model gasgas and is Quite the gifted custom painter .(when he's in the mood ...)(he was also the kid in cycleworld mag , fullpage colorshot of the world round in rhode island ,back in ?76? I think . And he can probly still ride better than me !)
And Jay I have to ask , as I'm a 33 yrs exp. ASE dual master w/a masters in mech.eng. toboot ; and I currently twist a wrench at a saturn dealer . How do you put up with the very young , gravy only parts changers ?????????? It hurts me sometimes to think that our trade is becoming a lost art ... (and I always heard that a small long intake helps low end too , till you start to loose throttle response !)
Glenn
And the cardboard ROCKS !!!!
-
This may help !? http://enginescrewkit.free.fr Thats the homepage of were I got a great set of stainless allan bolts for the boys ty80 .
There is contact info and they maybe able to assist in your search . Fantastic quality hardware ...
Hope it helps !!!

Hi , after a 30+ year absence I got a old fantic and lit the flame again , now a few years later my 8 and 11 yr. olds have decided trials is cool, so now I'm hunting for a second ty80 to build ... But it's all worth it !!!
Glenn , Welcome to the site , great info and freinds ! And you can do it at what ever style your comfortable with !!!!
-
Thanks , I'll check ... again !!!!

I have a dillema !!! my rear brake make a agonizing squeek whenever the wheel turns without the brake applied ! I've changed shoe's , return springs , chamfered , filed , shimed , lubricated and just about every thing else tou can think off ... It all started when I changed out the origanal brake shoes . obnoxis enough to break concentration ! Any ideas ???????
Glenn
-
Even though I ride a old bike in like events , I've been riding with a finger on the clutch and brake since I learned how to ride a few decades ago! I also have just changed the rear brake pedal on the trusty fantic so I can cover my brake wilst keeping my arches on the pegs !
Your bike control all boils down to the platform you give your self to stand on , and I don't walk around on my toes , Do you ?
-
It's a cable end to fit the domino tube , so you can adjust your inner cable length if need be or if your stock cable end doesn't fit the domino tube correctly ! They are a one size fits all throttle afterall !!!
Glenn

Give me a pm and let me know where you are ! I have scanable info on anything you need to learn about the best twinshock ever built !!!
Glenn
-
!!!! OH $$hH AA TTT .. I run a K&N air filter , oiled correctly , but it allows better air flow so my bike must be way lean then !! RIGHT !
She must be a witch Burn her ! wood burns sotherefore if she burns , she must be made of wood ,and that means she's a witch (or something like that , monty python and the search for the holy grail ...)
Glenn
And the ailiens must be running some trick otherworld synthetic ! 'cause you never see a ufo VAPOR TRAIL !!!!!
-
Amsoil synt. @ 80:1 , 125octane ave gas == red fuel so I know its mixed , Long shelf life of fuel ,(I don't get to ride enough )
small airport 2miles away ( handy ) = And my 25 year old bike starts first kick after sitting for a month or longer , smokes just abit and gives me no fouling or fuel issues at all !!! and my kids ty80 likes it too !
Glenn
-
HELLO THEN !!! and someone will come on w/ the info you need ... and I don't do cells either ! NOTHING is that URGENT ! those who need me can always get me !!!
Glenn
-
Yeah Lee , it's the only hurdle left in my quest to ride more events... My average trials weekend has to be 4 days long and useally consists of about 2000 miles of driving , round trip ! The moment I can afford to , I plan to move to the middle of TN. , for totaly selfish reasons !!!! But there are some Great school districts there too for my young ones ...
Glenn And the First event in the STRA schedule will be the closest one yet ! only about 600 mile round trip !
-
I know , good schedule for this year ! I'm working at getting to Trackrock ... It's almost close to me !
Glenn
-
When I was much younger and had a tl125 (wish I still had it ! ) We ran a chain-tite chain tensioner and never had a problem with it ... But I don't know if the company still exists!
Glenn

Steve , The folks at B&J racing in TN. , got me the fork springs, Bob tells me I've got the heaviest ones he could get...
I have 2 sets of oe springs , one short and the other long ? But the wes's are 1/2' longer than the short ones . after some binding issues I created ., a 2 inch spacer of pvc w/flat washers on the spring side to keep the spring from eating into the plastic , They work GREAT !
My front and rear compress evenly with my weight , They can take hard hits w/out bottoming hard and you don't notice the small stuff anymore ! Great improvement over stock !
