the nut is a lock nut on a screw adjuster /actuator rod , on the other end of the rod is a ball bearing . While holding the screw head with a screwdriver , loosen jam nut and turn in adjuster till it just makes light contact , tighten jam nut while still holding adjuster. install plug , adjust cable free play and try out the clutch .
If my other computer hadn't of died , I'd put up a picture of the mechanism and all would be obvious ...

I've been a auto mechanic for about 40+ years , so I'm on my feet 10hrs. a day and the last time i had a pedometer on I walk/jog about 12 miles a day average . And unless I'm working on new vehicles , I tend to use just hand tools as old vintage iron likes a gentle touch .
After work I do a few 12oz. curls alternating between right and left arm while cooking for my kids. And I play with my dog every day too ! who has time for more exercise ????
But I do find that some stretching exercises before a ride help me relax and reduce cramping . And I ride to have fun and relax , so I don't really count riding as exercise , although it actually is ...

You can always cross reference your plug out to a iridium NGK or denso . They need alot less energy to fire correctly from your old ignition . Been running the same one in my Fantic for years now , still starts like new ... and looks the part .

"There is a design flaw in pretty well all trials bike drum brakes in that one end of the shoe pivots on a round pin and so cannot slide to find its most effective location on the drum."
Which is why the Fantic 300 and the last drummed braked YZ's worked so much better ...Self centering brake shoes ... And then came the disc's ...

Welcome to the Fantic Fold ... If you get the chance, get some instruction from Mike at the Trials shop and practice in some light snow and ice this winter , so you learn all about traction ...
But most of all , Have Fun !!!

Looks like the new bike works !!!

And unless your a pro , a SOLID , Competent bike is a good thing .... We all ride for pleasure , let's be real here , the newest trickest bike will fade away in 6 months , but having a solid , capable bike under you for the long haul can't hurt ... And how many of us can out ride our bikes ?????
Glenn
-
You have to tell us where you are so we can help you , Trust me the Fantic parts are out there , you just have to know where to look ...

And Pat wearing gloves and no helmet ......Marketing should know better !

Get a set of Falcons or betors or rock shox or njb's for the old girl , Trying to go thru those is a wasted effort , and to the best i can tell , I don't think those ever came on a 200 OE.

I left Lake Arrowhead in the fall of 2003, (after the wild fire ). I never got to ride Trials there , (STUPID ME !!!) but I did go watch a national or WR. in lucerne .I don't remember what year it was , But I truly wish I still lived in the mountains out there .
Glad you had a fun day And when I had stopped competing in events years ago , Ty 250's and TL125's were the new bikes on the market ... The first time I took my newly obtained Fantic 240 pro out for a ride was with a couple of pro caliber riders on the then brand new to them Cota's.... And I proceeded to watch these guys do things I had never seen before .... And then I entered a event and was almost stumped by the "rules" .What do you mean I can stop , but I can't do a rollback to tighten a turn ????
Anyways I haven't looked back since , I've put all three of my kids on trials bikes , and only one has stuck with it .... But I'll keep doing it as long as I can start my bike by myself...
'cause it is the only thing I do that is just for me . period .

If you are manufacturer then yes , But supporting a rider with promise ??? Sketchy investment... are you gonna take a % of his salary ? At least here in the states most sponsors of anything write off the expense on their taxes as advertising expenses ... I don't know how it works in the rest of the world .
I for one know one young man that if allowed to quit his job and practice all the time , with funds , bikes , parts, minder and the rest could most likely be on the world stage if he had the mindset ...
But that is the big IF? How much can you write off in the future to compensate for the initial investment ???
We are a small sport without much wiggle room....
Not trying to argue here , but if you can ride that good in our sport , the manufacture will find you .... (I think....)

I do have to add ... Does it really matter to any of us what Bou gets paid ?????
Whatever it is he has earned it , He is the best , most consistant wining , modern trials rider there is , if not the best ever ...
I would still love to see him . Raga , Caby, and Mick , steve and a few others all show up at a event , all ride a twinshock bike , All the bikes the same , whether they be on tl125's or ossa's ,yamaha's or fantics ... And see how the points tally at the end. I would think all involved would have a blast .... And the video would be a great teaching tool for all us mere mortals ....

Back to nascar now .....

There are a few interesting bikes on hrc1's photo page , thanks for that

And that is one of the greatest things about our sport , We all do it for our passion for the ride , to challenge ourselves , Bou and his family most likely absorbed all the cost's when Bou was young for him to get to the level he's at now ... He now get's paid quite well to do what he loves to do .
Haven't you noticed he's almost always smiling (or grinning like a Cheshire Cat) when he competes ? I think he's one truly happy guy to the core...
And he obviously works very hard to stay where he is.

gfisch ;
I got back into trials after a 30 odd year vacation . When I was a kid in New England , I was blessed with the space and time to ride and practice everyday on all sorts of terrain .
As life progressed , i never stopped riding bikes , but trials fell by the wayside . Then in 2005 the trials bug bit me again and I bought a Fantic 240 ... I had never even heard of a Fantic before , but was quite impressed with the build quality of the old girl and started amassing parts and building a serious twinshock bike . I've got a modern bike now too , but I get much more enjoyment on my 240 .
And at 55 years old with the responsibility's that go with it , I ride whatever class I'm in the mood for. Some weekends I ride novice for no points so I can ride with my 16 yr. old son and try and teach him some technique . Other weekends I may ride expert and frustrate myself ... (the mind knows what to do , but the body resists ...)
But for the most part I just love to get my feet on the pegs and just have some fun. I don't give a damn about points and winning , I still compete against myself , first.... I ride trials for me and no one else ,
So go out and ride what ever class you can and at the end of the day if your smiling , tired , and not hurt , you rode the right class ....

And we must remember , Trials is fairly big in Japan , so there is home market PR. too ...
Honda corp. is a smart co. , I'm sure they keep Mr Bou quite happy ... So all his focus is on his riding ,
Not worrying about bills and the mortgage , and who's taking care of his dogs , or cutting the grass .
