But do you have THICK ICE ????
Have fun ,
Glenn

Do any of you folks add them to your bikes ? I always forget when fluids were changed so I probably over change them ...
I'm thinking of getting couple of these for the old Fantics .
http://worksconnection.com/details.php?id=722
This is the co. I got the way cool flush / flanged allen head skid plate mount bolts I used on the aluminum plate I modified to fit the 240 , Quality stuff from what I've seen .
And just out of curiosity how many hours do you put on oils in your trials bikes ?
Glenn

Kevpg , might be a silly ? , but are you sure the bead is set completely even and correct ? easy to miss and will give real funky feel ...
Have fun in your ride ,
Glenn

Glad to hear all is better , your to lucky a guy to have those kinda issues . Keep up the good work and stay healthy !!!!
All the best ,
Glenn
-
I'm sorry , but don't sit on the bike on the sidestand !!! First (well maybe second ) thing I told my son when we got him a street bike !!! It's there to support the bike ! , not you ! ....
'just sayin !
no harm intended

I guess I'm the only one who constantly is working on / improving their fantics .....
So today the ever trusty beloved 240 pro got a new magnesium clutch cover with a oil level sight glass from a later model bike
The standard red id plate was looking worn and unreadable , she looks much better with the FANTIC logo on the case there instead ...
And I'm lazy , I'd rather look thru the sight glass and see if the oil is OK than remove the screw and see if oil dribbles out ...
The section is still waiting on my lazy as$ to work on her , but it's time will come when the weather is warmer ... Screw this ARTIC Blast stuff ...
And I watched daytona qualifying ... Good for Jeff , but what a circus .....
Glenn
-
Fantic sold one back in the day , but I seem to remember the photo's showing alot of protection from the tracks ...
And sorry for the weather Dan , I really don't miss New England that much ... I remember one ice storm in the early 70's that shut down the whole area for about 2 weeks , and all the neighbors were glad we had a pool ... Relativity clean fresh water supply ... you just had to get through the ice with a bucket .!

Lot's of great memories of my built to the gills honda 350x..... And one really bad one . I was riding with a buddy in the desert , he on his atc250r , and me on my 350 ... We had on full gear etc .... He got out of shape on some whoops , foot came of the peg , calf wedged between peg , ground and back tire ... weight wedged on throttle ... That Dick Cepek tire took his boot top and one leg of his riding pants clean off and a good portion of skin and calf muscle ... You shoulda seen the look on the ER nurses face when I pulled up to the ambulance entrance with him on my lap , on my 3 wheeler with a tie-down strap tourniquet on his leg ... It was only about a 12 mile ride , 1/2 on pavement thru town with a cop following me , but he saw what was going on and turned on his lights and siren and followed me for the last few miles , as I was not going to stop ......
Boy the things we did when we were young ....
Glenn
and PS . after a couple of years my buddy was back desert racing , but on 2 wheels ....

That looks like a dab might hurt ....

Mine was set up by a chap in Eastleigh and shipped to me here in the states , And except for a float valve with microscopic imperfections (that I replaced with a kehin one ) , I've never had a issue with it . Crisp and quite powerful from idle to WFO ... As to the jetting , I don't know , never needed to play with it .(if it ain't broke , don't fix it !!!) I do know the idle circuit in the carb has been modified and to what extent I do not know as I've never had a standard OKO to compare it too . And like everything else these days there are Chinese copies of the Taiwan made OKO's that are almost identical in looks alone , not quality ... My 240 starts 1st or 2nd kick everytime cold , and 1/2 a kick hot , Idles so low and stable most folks think it's gonna stall ,
and will tractor up from idle without any complaints , allows me to not use my clutch as much as I probably should . She's real smooth till about 2/3 throttle then the lovely 240 pro comes on pipe and you best be pointed correctly ... Ryan Young always grins more than normal when he plays on her .
Glenn
-
They just need to be set up properly , by someone with the knowledge to do so ...
Glenn
-
I've had a OKO on my 240 with a K&N air filter for a few years now ... And I wouldn't even consider changing it ...
Glenn
-
I chuckled, you got my vote !!!
Glenn
-
Anybody try these yet ? http://www.suspensionhfs.com/en/content/en/what-hfsI might be tempted to some in the front of my trusty 240 ...
Just curious ...
Glenn
-
I use these http://motocinch.com/products/off-road they only compress the suspension a little bit and the bike becomes part of the trailer . I've had more than one tie-down strap self destruct , I just don't trust them anymore .
But your tire grippers are cool , never seen them before . Just alot to clean up after a muddy day ...
Glenn
-
HHMMM... The dunlop on the rear of my section is a 801 ... Seriously stiff now with rounded knobs . How old would it be as I have only heard of 803's and the new 803 gp ...
Glenn
-
Big Maico's always made me smile in mud ... 501's were a rush anywhere !!!
But seriously , mud is attitude ... and technique
Glenn
-
Yeah they do , we were just kids then ! And now we have to wear helmets !
-
I love all the mont street bikes were kinda Cafe' racers ...
Too cool of a history I didn't know about ... , Thanks !
Glenn
-
I've used a similar product on spec miatas , go-karts and Drag racers ... I really don't think that's Bou's secret ...
If you want to beat Bou , Have a Baby right now , Forget the learning to walk BS. , put the kid on two wheels as soon as it can stand up !!!
And then start the training program !!! When the kid is ready to compete against Bou , Bou maybe about to retire !!! It's a given !!
How hard was that to figure out ???
Glenn
-
Yeah .... but if I get a new modern bike .... that looks a treat !
-
And you wouldn't believe how fast his reactions are !!!!!
-
Spacers / speedo drive are not right , or you forgot a piece ! forks should be just a knats a$$ wider than the complete hub assembly ...No stress on anything fitting it into place ...
Get it to bobs on the weekend of the school , MAKE SURE you have all the pieces and it's a 5 min. fix ...
Glenn
-
But you finished with the classic smile
The Fun is all that matters !
Glenn

on my trusty old 240 pro I use a slow tube , as my bike the way it is ported , responds like a MX bike . On my Section I have a quick tube , as it has much more and smother power all over . And mind you both bikes are geared way low , I very rarely use first gear ... and both will chuggle along at serious low revs ... but it all gets down to what your comfortable with !
