  1. All I can say is Don't grip the bike to tight , keep your body and inertia going where you want it to be , the bike should follow ... Wish I was there , looks like some fun . Glenn
  2. AHH... The Iconic Morgan There's not much in the motoring world that can beat a warm Sunday Morning Drive in a Morgan +4 or a V8 ....with no place to go Most likely the ultimate purest sports car ever ... Long may they live , just as they are . Glenn

  6. I won the 2008 TS championship here in the southeast because of a snowy/icy event , must have been my youth riding in the snow in New England came back to me ... But I'm planning to go on a Fun ride Sunday , should be 50+ degrees F. and sunny after three days of rain , so the mud should be great !!!(traction practice !) I may even take my section out and see how we get along ... or decide to sell the modern bike , I can't help it I'm happy on my trusty 240 pro ... Glenn

  11. Where you are at a Steve Saunders school may be your best bet for some real learning .... LIVE always works best ... Glenn
  12. True trials riding is the hardest to do of the two wheeled sports , I gather from the above you've been riding for maybe 4 years ? I'm 54 and had my first trials bike at about 12 ... a little enduro bike before that ... and a mini bike before that ... and yes my great grandpa worked at the indian factory in mass. and had one of his own in the early days, so bikes have always been accepted in my family . MOM had no problem with it , and Dad financed them . Going fast on a bike is basically easy , going real fast and smooth isn't . Most of the best motocrosser's , roadracers , and enduro riders all ride trials when they are not being paid to practice ... Riding trials you become one with your bike . IT TAKES TIME ! Why was Ryan young the best in his day ? 'cause of his dad ! ryan grew up on a trials bike , along with his brother ... Why is Bou the best now ? most likely 'cause he was riding trials bicycles from a very young age , and I bet his family has along trials/motorcycle history that should should be explored . patience and practice ... See what works for you and what doesn't . EVERY rider is different , get comfortable on your bike and know what it will do or will not do in any given situation . PEG TIME WORKS ! and ride with some bud's if possible. Teasing can go a long way ! But most of all , become friends with your bike , it'll do things for you, you never thought you could do .... HAVE FUN !!!! Rant over ... Glenn
  13. Well today in between doing laundry and drinking , I went out to the shop and started all my bikes and let them warm up ... 1 trusty 240 pro , 1 slow prod , and 1 full kick fires up and runs fine . 2 97 section , 2 slow prod's and 1 full kick and she fires up and runs fine till I shut her down after the fan cycles ... 3 reflex , 3 manly kicks and it fires off and stumbles and die's . One more good kick and she runs fine . 4 50cc fm330 no matter how hard I kicked it , she wouldn't start ! must be the lack of a piston and crank ... ? None of these bikes has ran in at least 2 months . man I love my 240 and ave gas .... Glenn , happy days !
  14. I agree ., when I have a fresh tire on my 240 , it's a different bike . But mud and traction takes practice , alot of it ... As stated above you will develop a physic connection between your twist grip and the tread on you back tire , and what and where to work each one . I tend to let momentum be my best friend when it comes to low traction situations , still on the power , but not overwhelming the available traction . Because once you start to spin and slip , you slow down and make everything harder on yourself . I have a mentor in his late 60's early 70's that is smooth as silk in every situation and I always learn just watching him ride the tricky stuff . Observing a BRUTAL section can be quite the learning experience for any rider . It is better than any video Have fun and don't give up ! It will come to you ... Glenn
  15. My Rotten youngest son (the one with the trick reflex... ) has found that he likes to go fast ... And @ 15 he flat hauls a$$ on the trails on a Reflex that I've set up to be the best trials bike I can make out of it .... Kinda p****s me off because as of now his new one peice seat/tank unit has been center punched and leaks fuel slowly ... (but dad I didn't do it !!!) Anyways I digress , once you get used to the twitchy high speed handling of a trials bike , you'll be amazed at how easy they can motivate down a trail , You just have to remember , they respond MUCH quicker and more to the slightest body inputs . But at my age I tend to just cruise at a decent clip between sections these days . Glenn
  16. The riding there is FANTASTIC !!! I hope I can make it over ... 9 hrs or so away .... Glenn
  17. Just wishing I had time to work on and ride my bikes , life gets in the way to often ....
  18. It's up to you, in most cases , but if you keep winning your class (with competition ...) move on up ! If your comfortable riding the line ... Back when I was a kid riding in the netra , you didn't have a choice , you won three times , you were in the next class ...Early 70's ... When we wore bell caps like Mick ... Glenn
  19. Here is the body of a reply I got from Dunlop ; Hi Glenn, We appreciate your contact and interest in Dunlop. Do not have too many details but yes the D803 GP - compounding has changed slightly from prior version to improve wet traction. Availability date estimate has not been released … would suspect we would know more towards end of 1st quarter 2015. Regards, So I guess we wait and see !!!
  20. Some times you've got to plan that dab , Long before the panic situation ! Glenn
  21. That makes me wish I was in the UK !!!!!
  22. When I walk a section with my vintage AIR bars , I find myself always looking down at my AIR LiTE back tire to make sure it's where I need it to keep traction when I make my engine noises ... , got to keep moving forward ! Glenn
  23. Thanks ... my dinner is cold again ... But that definitely sounded like the gentleman that along with Bernie signed my Fantic last year in Tennessee . Now I have to read the directors interview . Thanks again for your time and serious effort . A interview with a man who competed when trials changed forever ... I'm old school too ! Glenn
