If you can and their not old and stale ... Set them aside and I'll be in touch asap ... But if you can off them in the meantime , don't worry 'bout me ...

Happy New Year !

Whatever happened to the lightly padded denim riding pants that were around when we were kids ?? I would think they would be great for trials ...
Glenn
-
Wow ; That's what I just told hrmad with different words but the same point , You just explained it alot better !
And rickr ; You are quite lucky to have stumbled onto other trials riders on your first time out ... Nothing works better than practicing with peers ...
And folks that can do it better than you . I've got one buddy that every time we ride a event together , I go out of my way just to make time to watch him ride ... one of the smoothest guys I know , and he's almost 70 ... and still kicks everyone's a$$ !
Glenn
-
Why don't you live in my neighborhood ?
Enjoy the ride , take your time , ask questions , DON'T be embarrassed , AND HAVE FUN !!!!
And if you can hook up with HRMAD on here , If she's close to you ...
A riding buddy is always best ...and listen to Hillary .....
Good luck and welcome ;

I can't wait to observe again in R.I. , I had a great time in TN. with the new rules , and I wonder if Michuads pre event pep talk will change ...
I just like to ride my bikes , and watch those far better than me have fun doing the same ... And that was one of the things that impressed me the most in TN. , Bou , Raga , etc. on down the line are having FUN ! Fuji got mad in my section 'cause the bike actually screwed up , but he still smiled and thanked me for the 5 I punched on his card , (as he swore at his mechanic/minder ). And all the riders were sociable and enjoying themselves ... Isn't that why we do it ? This is the best motor sport there is and we get to rub elbows with the very best of us ... Why bitch about anything ? Make the best of what we've got .! And long may our sport survive !

And I have a foggy recollection of reading about a industrial powerplant 2 stroke with direct injection that made serious torque and was very clean and long lived ... or was that a dream ....
-
Don't any of the injected trials bike use a manifold absolute pressure sensor ? "cause that would deal with altitude/ density etc. as discussed above , wouldn't it ? Sorry , my brain tunes multiple carbs on the old stuff I work on , BUT I love Fuel injection !!!
-
Basic rule ... Set bike on ground . measure static travel . Have a buddy support you on bike and another measure travel . Get suspension travel specs for your bike , You want to set up preload so your weight uses about 1/3 of total travel ... Then play with dampening adjustments and oil weight from there . But start with how the bike is STOCK ! you don't weigh that much ... and we all want different from our bikes .....
Take your time , learn the bike at stock settings , and then play with the adjustments , unless the suspension is screwed up already , stock will work fine until you can use/feel the minor adjustments available to you ...
Glenn ; Enjoy the ride ...

It's a feel that will grow on you ... Learn to balance the bike with your pegs in most situations , You and the bike will become one before you know it ...
alot of the other techniques are to regain balance , or to set up for a maneuver , learn to let the bike float between your legs and you will learn to steer and balance with peg pressure , a little bit is all it takes and it will become second nature with time . I learned it when I was 12 and weighed about 90lbs , the rest comes easier after that , you will learn how to react to bike inputs to your body and to keep the bike going where you want it with minimal effort or thought .
Best of luck and I'm glad your sticking with it ... Just remember , going FAST is easy , any twit can twist a grip !
Glenn
Happy New Year to all !
-
Ugly as can be ... But thought provoking ! Thanks ...
Glenn
-
Thanks for that , I use their sprockets ... But I also just found out that my 97 section and a 97 315 use the same rear hub ... So I think I'll just run down a montesa rim and spoke set and see how it goes ... And I may just get 2 and have some spokes made up for the trusty 240 !

-
Do you have any info on locating some ? I've been looking all over for details on them , as your the second person that has told me that . And yet I can find no info on the rim ...
-
Yep , turns out to be a stumbling block ... My intended purpose's all have 36
I wonder if 4 more holes could be added/ spaced equally around the flange ...?

Wasn't winter solstice the 21st this year ?
Glenn
-
Just out of curiosity , what company makes the rear tubeless rims on the 4rt ? I'd like to obtain a couple of that flanged type rim for a few projects ...
Glenn
-
I used Excel rims on my Fantic 240 pro , and they are really strong and light , might be worth a look ! Round true rims made a big difference in how the bike feels at anything above static balance !
Glenn
-
I must be old school ... I still use a fullsize van and a trailer for the bikes ...
-
Merry Christmas to all of you .... period !
