  1. And make sure the actuator arm in the case is not worn out / pitted were it makes contact , wear there changes the geometry and limits adjustment/engagement range .
  2. Wow That young man doesn't even weigh enough to work the suspension ! Rising star there me thinks ...!!!! Glenn

Technology in auto's is needed to help our environment ... Think of how many are sold and how many folks think of it as just a turn key appliance ... The day of the enthusiast is long gone , just look at the sales #'s . Trials bikes are a different species , WE are few and we have to use what we are dealt ...hence all my bikes are from italy and over17 years old ... But if I could afford one , I'd buy a VERTIGO in a heartbeat ! Kinda of a fresh blanket for the old horse ....and if it works the way Dougie likes , well enough said ! Glenn
  4. And if my memory works at all , most aircraft prop nuts tighten opposite the direction of rotation of the engine ... So centrifical force and inertia are always tightening the nut.... Just like most modern auto fan clutches ... And yeah , I've only been twisting wrenches about a week now , and I learned everything on the internet .... Glenn Completely irrelevant dd2 And my first car was a TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1967 , not a fighter plane from WWII
  5. My trusty 240 has a one finger clutch with excellent feel / engagement . #! Domino clutch lever , with good bushings/washers #2 new clutch cable (the most basic fix ) #3 clutch arm lengthened about 12mm. (from memory , didn't go out and measure it ) #4 proper adjustment of the clutch actuator rod , and make sure the ball is in place !!! Most modern guys that I've let ride my bike are amazed at the clutch action ... #5 silkoline light gear oil or redline gear oil , Redline has become the gear oil of choice for all my fantics , Smooth action and no initial hangup ...Screw ATF !!! in a GEARBOX !!! Glenn

    Power Output

HHMMNN .... My 97 Section in all the info I've gathered on the old girl , says 21 hp ... And is almost violent compared to my tweeked 240 pro . 31!!! would scare the $$hit out of me in a trials bike !!! Glenn
  7. Scott Swanson , He entered it when we were kids riding netra events , back when Don Sweet was untouchable I'm pretty sure we didn't know the scope of the event at the time ... He rode all the loops and we came to find out he missed a section (the same one) every loop . So I think he may have been marked a DNF . I was 12 or 13 so I really don't remember it to well Glenn
  8. Disassembled backend of section to get carb off and give the bike a closer look than I have yet ... Carb kit is at the post office waiting for me to pick it up , Carb appears unmolested since new ... I'll know more when I take it apart tomorrow at work . Gonna have a and some and watch the show nascar has become ...Boy this old bike is in really good shape I've got a event on the 30th and might just use it ! Hard tires and all ... Glenn

And I believe coolant driven rad fans (or ps fluid driven ) have been tried and marketed by more than one auto manufacturer ... With little to no success , or they would still be in use ...
  10. Thanks for that , but what were they protesting ? no stop ? Glenn
  11. I'm making vacation plans right now And clearing a few credit cards . Great reason to visit my big brother in CT. My other brother rode in a WR there back in 75 or 76 , one of the first ones . Cycle world magazine did a story on it , and low and behold my bro was a full page photo in the mag ! , tatty button down shirt and tl125 and all . It is a pretty photo though . What is the observer / camping situation going to be like ? I'm voluntering Glenn My Campsite is all set ! See ya there !!!!
  12. I must be out of the loop ... ! Or not paying attention ! What did the 5 supposedly conspire to do , get away with ?

I believe in electric water pumps and the fan system designed for the vertigo . From what I have read it is a pulse width modulated system responding to ambient and internal temp . aka moving the coolant slower at times so it has more time to absorb and dissipate heat . And if the coolant passages are designed from the start with this system in mind , hot spots will not be a issue . And electric water pumps are not in use in mass produced cars yet because of cost i believe , not because of a lack of reliability , some hybrids already use them and I'm pretty sure there are alot of BMW's out there with electric pumps . And we've been using them in drag racers for years ......... Glenn . ROCK ON VERTIGO !!! INNOVATION is a GOOD THING !!!
  14. I think he just released another one ..... AKA sponsors ....Seem to remember something about riding a bobsled run and getting 300+ feet of air ...! (not for the faint of heart !)
  15. Gee , I just learned why you folks call a hose clamp a jubilee clip , I never knew thats the name of the inventors company ... Glenn
  16. When He and Bernie signed my 240's tank at the world round here , he did say my bike was prior to his Fantic ride as he checked her out . Glenn
  17. You guy's have so many different vehicles than we do ... I keep telling the Bosch rep "I don't need all this ! there not sold here !!!" and the scanner is a pos anyways ... I'll stick to my nissan nv 1500 ...
  18. Most torque spec's are given for clean dry fasteners , unless specified ... (aka most auto head bolts ) Glenn And some cases a quick cleaning of the threads involved , light tap or die run , will give a much more accurate torque reading and clamping force . And yes my wrists click ..... Glenn And Mags , added on edit , Your explanation was superb ! for explaining why guys like you , me and copey and lineaway have way to much money invested in tools ... Right the first time is all that works . And Dadof2 ... too
  19. Get out and ride as much as you can without effecting your studies , the odds of making a living on a trials bike are slim to none ... But for playing and practice , a mix of 70:1 should give you no worries , as long as your using a good synthetic ... Keep your feet up and practice with a buddy , REMEMBER !! stupid hurts ...... Glenn
  20. But Fantic did have a few A$$ kicking Streaks ... Was it the riders or the bike ? Glenn
  21. Frankfield Fantic is your best bet for Fantic info and parts ...
  22. One 240 pipe I have is lined with mesh and packed in the middle section , the other that I use , is bare all the way thru , but is also a slightly different shape ...And the section works alot better , still waiting on a seal kit for the dellorto ...
  23. Get the new Fantic !!!! (and get good at enduros !)

The bike I compete on is 31 years old ... And is still far more capable than I am ... My "modern bike " is 17 years old , and I have yet to compete on it , but I don't see it improving my scores ..., just being a different experience to ride . Trials is and always will be about the rider , not the bike . Let's be honest here , Bou , Raga , Lampkin , Fuji , Young , Miller etc. etc. Could kick all of our buts on a box stock tl125 ... But I hope Vertigo all the best , very forward thinking design , And if the electric cooling system works as visioned , and proves reliable , the engine should have quite a long stable life . Not having to deal with temperature extremes is a good thing in the internal combustion world !!! Glenn
  25. I wondered TOO ! Never gave it much thought though .... Glenn
