Thanks , the translation of the italian manual pages is unclear , but that makes perfect sense

OK , here it is ;
On a phbl does the choke operate with the plunger in the carb body up or down ? On my soon to be trusty '97 section , the manuals I've obtained (thanks to all !) , show and translate that the long lever version on my bike , you lift the lever to activate the choke circuit ... which puts the plunger in the down position. The choke lever in either position has little effect on how the bike runs ... Idle mixture screw has little effect with lever in either position ... Time to get a gasket/seal kit and go thru the carb I know . But before I start looking for other issues , I want to know the carb is correct . But the old girl will still pull your shoulders out of socket with misjudged throttle application !
Thanks for any pointers ! She's still my first almost modern bike ! Air cooled 240's are so much simpler ......!!!!!!!!
Thanks ,
Glenn

Better powerband feel (smoother !).
And NO excess smoke !!!
-
Soaked it , washed it , Applied a torch to it ,And luckily I had it in the bucket of a small front loader at work , 'cause when it got heated up it made quite the spectacle of itself and burned with a aggressive draft thru itself .! Wire brushed and blew it out . A lot lighter now
Re-installed it last nite , will try it this eve.

I think the kickstand retention is truly TRICK !!!

I've used all those techniques !!! And Gravity and inertia , what a couple of cheap whores ....
You get to have too much fun !

I seem to remember Dougie or one of his caliber breaking their forks off in a section at a WR , and completing the section ....
Just a Copycat , although a hell of a rider to even attempt it

COOL bike ... Did they work ?????
-
I took the mid box off tonite .... Weighed 12Lbs !!!! just cleaning it will make such a difference !
Fired her up with nothing but the head pipe , Loud as hell , but not a spec of smoke ...
The old bike has just been putted around it's whole life and never really used
But I'll remedy that in short notice .... I'm gonna use it this weekend to lay out a event . And yes I'll bring the ever faithful 240 for backup
Glenn
Changed on edit , 12 not 22 !!! still heavy with oil !

I've got a new Airoh Carbon , Absolutely The lightest , most comfortable , Simplest to clean , and best ventilated helmet I've ever owned ....
And it came with clear plastic vent covers that snap in for rain !!!!
It's your head , The Shiro helmet I handed down to my son was good too , and a 1/4 the price

And after doing the Monday Music thing on sat. evening at serious decibel levels in my shop , (Al Dimeola , Elegant Gypsies ; race with the devil on spanish highway ) the fastest guitar solo ever )ask Eddie Vanhalen ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGWfDkx4zyY old Macintosh cranked to heat producing levels ...And enough to p*** off the new neighbors ...
I've decided that just cleaning the mid box in the solvent tank will have to do , I really don't want to cut it open ...
If the bike gets a little louder , so be it . as long as it doesn't smoke like a freight train when hot ...
Glenn
Not the best recording but you'll get the genra !

AS most of you fellow Fantic follower's know , I finally got new cooling hoses for my 97 section ...
Well this afternoon I had time to play with her and get her hot ...SWEET BIKE !!! After hour or so of playing in the yard and the bike working as it should , I took a blast wfo down my street ...
Upon returning to my driveway I was passed by a cloud of smoke like I have never seen from a 2 stroke , and it didn't clear up , bike still running fine .
As I have already cleaned (nasty oil soaked !!) the silencer , I was wondering if anyone has ever cleaned the midbox on a section ? 'cause I'm thinking just remove it and let it soak in the solvent tank at work for a while and then rinse it best as possible and reinstall ...
I do not want to cut open the pretty chrome chamber ! so I think liquid cleaning will have to do ...
And the carb needs a new seal on the choke plunger , but this is way more smoke than a fat carb ....(zero visibility!)
Thoughts? experience ?

Did you start out with a new tire ? They mention rimlock imprints causing leaks . Doesn't really matter I've got another new mich for the 240 and I can put the used one on Tylers reflex . I may even lace up the spare OE Fantic rims I've got , to lose a little weight off the honda ... And the Section wants new tires too , the rock hard ones on it are not good for much of anything

Hose's installed on the 97 section , Distilled water with water wetter and a dash of coolant installed . Bled and fired up ! let the fan cycle off and on a few times . Will check level again in the morning when cold . Hopefully no air pockets !
Now I get to ride it !!!!

Doug ;
Was it a pain to mount/seat ??? I've been thinking about one for my 240 forever now .... No matter what rim lock or tube brand , she hooks up so well my back tire always slips on the rim ... Seems I'm always breaking the tire down and rotating it back on the rim ...

I just had to watch it again ....
-
Tlr's / reflex's in the states had air forks , but not the TL series that I know of ...
But nonetheless , no more than 2 psi to be safe !
