There is a whole crew on here from your neck of the woods (desert...) they;ll chime in soon .
HEAL first ! I broke a clavicle a few years ago , and at our age we don't mend to brand new condition ....
There are ITSA events around you too
Keep your feet up and have fun .

See if you can locate Some Redline oil products , I've got a buddy that's a Beta Dealer and he swears by it , along with a few of my other riding buds .

I've been using their oil in my Fantic's for a while now and really like the clutch action
Good stuff .

What he said in about 20% of the sections I ride , but on that day my son was wearing my gloves and I was sweating like a pig ! literally running down my arms/wrists keeping my hands slimy , so I was just maintaining a grip on the bars and thinking to much ...
I've got the SM brake lever , Doug , You mean move the rod closer to the pivot to reduce the leverage ? never thought of that ...
Thanks ,
Glenn
And the new airoh helmet is GREAT ! just pop the liner pieces out and wash in the sink no stink helmet !!! and it's light and comfy too

And I thought I was obsessed .....

Oh yeah , Here's a shot of the event ...
All the others I've got are way to big to post ...

Hummnn ...I believe under ITSA rules , that rider would've been asked to leave , And don't bother coming back ....
-
As long as the tape doesn't break or need to be reset .............. I learned that stretching is allowed ....
But I use surveyors paint when laying out sections ... no doubt if you crossed the line ....
And it dissapears with the next good rain .

Here they are ....
AND HOW did any one get up that climb !!!????

I worked a section @ the WR here in Tennessee this past year and got to spend a few moments talking with Bou and Raga together at my section , They both were extremely polite as they pumped me for info on what worked ... I explained that no one cleaned it yet , and if I could ride like they can , I'd take the line over here instead of where everyone else was going , just because of where it left you for what was next ... They walked it again together , debating back and forth the whole time on where to put the bike ...(I think) . And then proceeded to ride it and clean it on the line I suggested . The thanks and smiles as I punched their cards was the best moment of the event for me . They are both great people ( you get that vibe !) and truly love that they get to do what they do ! Hence they are the best we got !!! And Toni Rode my Fantic bicycle along with the rest of the team ...

OK my Brake results ...
Front brake works FANTASTIC !!! now I just have to soften the rear brake so it's not a toggle switch ...
Rear seems to be either off completely or locking up , especially on any downhill .
Any clues on how to make the rear a bit more progressive ?
Or was it the combination of the excellent front feel and the greasy North Carolina mud playing tricks on me ???
Maybe ride her some more first ?

That is a very good point ... I'd like to see a spec. series where they all ride the same EXACT bike , except for personal adjustments and no minders
Let's see who thinks the best on their feet , and they only get 10 minutes with the bike before the start .........
I think it would be really cool to watch , but Bou would still make a heck of a show !
-
I've never experienced what you describe , or heard of it ... Position of the pilot jet in the carb body ??? not a clue really , but I have heard that the later fantics were quite finicky on there jetting . I haven't had the opportunity to actually use my 97 yet , but in the yard she appears to run sweet .

Billy I tried to PM you all the pertinant info you need , but your box is full and the message is off in cyberspace now ...
CLEAN YOUR BOX !!!!
Glenn

MAG'S !!!!!#$%^&&^%$#@
OFF ROAD riding is like scuba diving ! NEVER do it alone !!!! I don't care how good or bad you are , unless your in your back yard , DO NOT GO ALONE ! If you cracked a vertebra in your neck when you fell , how long would it have taken somebody to find YOU !!!! I mean hey , In previous life I was a para rescue BAD A$$ , but I still won't go off road by myself ... And don't depend on your DAMN cellphone after a crash ... it is plastic after all ...
I don't mean to be condescending , but you've got a wife and kids too ....AND I know your smarter than that !
ALL THE BEST , and I hope you feel better , get your back checked out ! I just had a bolt removed from my clavicle and technology works !
Glenn

Billy it turns out you most likely know my Irish Friend and have ridden with him in the past ... Lost in the NC. woods ????
And is your bike a Canadian or a US market bike ? I'll pm you when I get a chance ...
Glenn
-
You've got to show us the bike !!! I'm still waiting to actually use my section , not just fart about in the yard !!!
Glenn
-
Well I'm loading me & the kid's bike's and gear for a event in NC. tomorrow , gotta lube chains & check oil , etc.....
Good Luck Billy , I'll talk to my buddy for ya, and see if he has any more insights .
And yippee ! it's raining

Is Carl Davis over there too ?

Ok , I looked at the PDF...
Very basic Programmed ! fuel injection ... Non feedback -(no O2 sensor) . It has definite limits in adaptability ...
I know you don't want to hear it but , your best bet , safest bet , Maybe a dual map programmable throttle body/ecu .
And if we add a resister to the TPS (not the idle switch in it ) to make the ecu think throttle opening is less than it actually is ie. allowing more in , It is just gonna conflict with map and iat sensors and rpm and may put the system into a limp mode or it could work fine if a small enough change on the input is made . Could be a expensive experiment ...
I'd be willing to bet that the works bikes are mapped out with a gas analyzer to achieve the correct
stoichiometric for the up coming conditions , and they may have O2 sensors and exhaust gas temp sensor's too , for alot better control and range of the efi ...
So apart from changes on the airbox side to increase volume and velocity , which may have adverse effects @ sea level , I think some reprogramming is your best bet ...
Glenn
But get some ave gas at least for your mountain trips ... It's a good thing.
And here is a article that may help you see what is going on , and the limits of honda's pgm . It only has limited response's within a fairly narrow window of inputs . http://tunertools.com/articles/AFR-Tuning.asp

Ave gas or race fuel should be a plus at any altitude and is better for anything to due with fuel injection , if you had fuel with ethanol in it that would only make matters worse , And the hotter plug may have been a step in the wrong direction , as I thought you stated the plug was white-ish ? If it's not sensing enough air flow / density the ECU will back off on fuel to prevent a rich condition . I haven't had a chance to look at a schematic yet , but does the honda have a O2 sensor in the exhaust ?
