  1. So if they are seeded , Does that make them clones ???
  2. I think to best improve our sports sustainability a twinshock bike with let's just say ... 1 ; Fantic 200 pro geometry . 2 ; air cooled with yamaha / honda reliability . 3 ; Easily serviced by the newbie to bikes, zerk fittings , air cleaner access ect ... 4 ; 2014 technology as to suspension components , wheels , ign , fuel control ... 5 ; Start with a easily upgrade able base model , that the owner can easily improve as the need / want arises . 6 ; keep the weight around 180lbs , so no need for exotic materials ... 7 ; and start a riders series , IE everyone on the same basic bike ... 8 ; Sell a bunch and get new riders into the sport !!!! Just my pipedream .... Glenn
  3. Now that you mentioned it , I remember as I was marking cards in TN. , It was looped around the bars on almost all the riders bikes when they pulled up to me to get their score .... May be a hard rule to enforce ??? Bikes may be equipped , but will the pro's wear them ? Glenn
  4. spdtrpl ( aka triumph ?) , Very interesting take on a Tl250 , I like it . Glenn
  5. Who CARES !!! it ain't me and it ain't you , Let's just see What the bikes can do !!! Damn ! that rhymed !!
  6. As the old saying goes ...(I think?) You don't get old and stop riding , you get old when you stop riding . Or something like that ! Get a cheap twinshocker , yamaha , honda , whatever ... And go have some fun with your son , And then get a new bike if you feel the need , BUT RIDE a modern bike first !!! But mainly go have some safe FUN !!! Glenn
  7. I'm 53 , I got back into trials after 30 years away , I always had a bike of some kind or another , but trials is great exercise for the body and mind ... And I have to got to work every monday , so I've set the go fast on two wheels aside . Also my son's enjoy riding with me too , and I like teaching them what I can . Glenn
  8. I stand corrected , I didn't know there was a minimum limit at all ...
  9. And the red skidplate is sexy !!!
  10. 2nd that , and the grey color may be from a additive in the fuel .
  11. "axulsuv, i don't know if anyone outside honda knows the weight of bou's bike but based on what we know about works bikes, you build it then add weight where the rider wants it and then meet the limit. it's like that in all forms of racing. " Rob; Trust Me , I've been involved in just about every motorsport you can name as a mechanic , fabricator, engineer , crew chief , whatever ..for the past 35+years. And I ride trials for my own enjoyment and for the fact that until recently trials has always been a ride what ya brung kinda sport ... Displacement , size or weight was never controlled . I watched Bou's bike get unloaded and put together at the WR in TN. as I was camped 30 feet from the honda/montesa padock . And the mechanics that set it up exerted alot less effort moving and manhandling the bike bou rode in the event then they did the one he was practicing on , as his bike arrived late ...! For all I know they've got helium in the frame ! But as far as I know there has never been a minimum weight limit in trials . That and the fact that I never saw anyone get close to Bou's bike , there was always a uniform within a few feet of the bike , you could look , but don't get to close ! Even at the section I observed , one of the minders never left his bike when Bou was doing his walkabout ... Merry Christmas to all , and a Five free new year ! Glenn ,,, And for all we know it could be built in the Colin Chapman state of mind , if a part lasts longer than the race ,,,, it's to heavy !
  12. And I would add to the above , besides ensuring freeplay in the linkage , use slow strokes on the lever and give it a second to fill on each pump . I've seen folks work their lever or pedal as fast as they can and only make matters worse by turning a air pocket into foam .... And sometimes just walk away from it for ten minutes , and it will mysteriously bleed real easy when everything settles . Patience is the key , Good luck and merry christmas
  13. I have just one question , Can any of us actually state for FACT , what Bou's bike really weighs ??? And lets not forget the almost unlimited Honda budget compared to the other brands ... Could the rule be proposed to level the playing field ? 'cause we all know Bou doesn't need any help ... Glenn
  14. Except for the mixing it before each ride , I totally agree , I run all my old Fantics at 75 to 1 with no issues , but I also run ave gas bought in 5 gallons at a time , I like to mix larger quantities for better accuracy and the ave gas doesn't go south ... And my memory just worked !!!! It's a old monty python skit/song !!! Glenn And I forgot to say that's with Amsoil's best synthetic premix oil ... ('just 'cause its red and matches my bike and doesn't get put in anything else by mistake ,,,(kids!) .
  15. Being a straight up kinda guy , I'd VISIT the seller ... But you did ride it before you handed over payment didn't you ? And his Karma will get him in the end , ie. you get what you give . Glenn
  16. "Hey Jon ; Isn't your brother supposed to be wearing safety Glasses ???"........No problem, he's a Lumberjack and he's o.k...... He's a lumberjack and he's ok ... I vaguely remember that song ... ? BAD A$$ SAW though , I did that up in Oregon , but not at that level , more of the stop the fire kinda thing ... Glenn
  17. I would Doug if you could access the adjustment screws ! Mid box denies carb access from the left . But there maybe another Flat slide out there with right side adjuster screws that could be used , I haven't really looked into it yet . Did you ever get the Kehin float valve for your OKO ? Mine had the most minute flaw in the rubber tip that would randomly make it over flow , only found it with a magnifying glass , other than that I've had nothing but love for the OKO ... Have you used the "new Boyesen Trials reeds " ? I may give them a shot after I get used to the section a little more ... Glenn
  18. Damn ... I'd just like to see one of the bikes in person , and your already starting to pimp one up before you've got it !!!
  19. So I take it you drive Tourists/Quests around to see the sights ? Do you tell them the wild dogs will do that to them too , if given the chance ??? They seem completely unconcerned about the human / vehicle presence and noise ...... Glenn
  20. Opened one of my son's Xmas presents early for him I installed the K&N air filter in the bike yesterday and put the stock one on a shelf ... As has been said before , Direct fit just put some sealing grease on the flange , slide it into place and bend the retainer slide spring just a little more as the K&N is about a 1/4 inch shorter . And with the previously performed carb mods , it runs quite well for a old Honda .... No pop , no hesitation and better response , but they still are cold blooded as can be , but once warmed up , well worth the wait ! Now to start the search for some shocks as the OE one's have reached the point of just being spring holders ... And the springs seem to be about shot too ! Glenn
  21. Well my procrastination Has come to a end , (sort of ...) I finally got around to installing the proper cross referenced Iridium ND spark plug in the section !!! . Starts easier , idles smoother , and runs like it should , It ran good before , but now is a adrenaline rush for this old guy Now I have the ambition to get around to working on it some more . Glenn
  22. I'd look (as other have said ) for a clean Twinshock bike , as one old git to another you'll enjoy tinkiering with a simple old bike , and if you get a solid one for a good price , most if them only go up in value with time .... And you may like the twinshock / classic events better . Slightly different skillset . Good Luck , and it's all about fun , and you are your hardest competition ... Glenn

    Hopeful?

    My memory must be fading ... I could've sworn the TL125 I had as a teenager was a 5 speed .... ?
  24. Hey Jon ; Isn't your brother supposed to be wearing safety Glasses ??? How fast did it make that pass/cut ? Glenn
  25. Being one of the old regulars at our events I often get tasked with taking the newbies with me and teaching/ explaining what is going on ... The first loop I usually take the first run at each section and show the folks what not to do ! But in reality I usually do quite well the first loop , and my score's get worse as I'm trying to help the others thereafter. When I was a kid I used to have a walkman and earbuds cranking in my favorite song at the moment and it would help get me into the ZONE ... Maybe I should buy a ipod thingy and just tune everyone else out ... But Like Doug , it's a social event for me and time riding with my boys , so I really don't care about my score , I'm just out to have some fun ! :) Glenn And PS. there are alot worse thing's I could be doing with my spare time and money !!!!
