    Hopeful?

    !!!! OMG !!!!
  2. Lots of folks run the 35mm Marzocchi's off the fantic 240's on them with good results . I don't know what combo of clamps and bearings they use though . (but I do have a complete set , wheel and all if my son ever gets to the serious mod's needed point ! ) Glenn
  3. My bike was bought By a Stief J. Counts from lancaster Ca. on Nov. 11 ,1982 ... Were there more than one fantic factory bike about ? as my frame and engine #'s match the bill of sale from Cherokee Cycle center , (No tax or freight as bike was picked up by customer ..) and my frame is way different from the others I have and the top end is ported kinda unique ... along with the silencer thats out in the shop , the expansion chamber on this bike has no packing in it and is just the outer shell ... (I've opened up 2 and this one is naked inside ) so it sounds much crisper and came alive with the Flat slide carb ... And quoting Ryan Young last time he rode it with a bent Falcon shock " the ultimate cheater twinshock " And the billet repackable silencer on it now from a gent in Italy , works better than a wes , or stock or the funny looking one. (came in 2nd for off idle response next to the billet ...) Well I'll just keep riding the old girl , as she can do much more than I can . Glenn
  4. I know alot of enduro riders that swear by tire balls , they say that there a pain to install the first time , but once you get the hang of it , there not bad to do . And no lost minutes due to flat repair on the trail ... Glenn
  5. Easy to ride , Tough as nails , and with a few simple mods , perform quite well on the cheap .. And I haven't riden a ty in ages , 'cept for my kids ty80 ....
  6. You should be able to unbolt the kick start stop and maneuver the cover off .
  7. Go to some local events and talk to folks , (they'll all tell you their bike is best ) Watch as many section rides as you can , and you will soon realize it's not all about power . It's all about what you do with what you've got , traction is the key to everything trials , and to much power can take that away from you at first . Try to watch a pro level rider on a 125 , it will amaze you what finesse and control can do ! But get a bike you are physically comfortable on , and then practice all the trials basics ... turns and balance , turns and balance , turns and balance... Everything in the section is just there to upset your Balance and turns , so get that hardwired and then have FUN ! Welcome to the Fold ... Glenn
  8. Have you ridden the beasty yet????
  9. I'm pretty sure the updating part is up to us riders , and if you zoom in on the map it becomes much more accurate . I just hope to use it in my hopeful future travels . Glenn
  10. From http://moto-trials.com/ Comes this interesting link and idea a map of trials riding area's and trials people , Check it out , you can add as much info as you are comfortable with , just click the details tab in the link below for more info ! http://ps-dbs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/OnePane/basicviewer/index.html?appid=350418affc254bcabbf70d80863896ef Not mine ,but a good Idea ! New Helmet

Not to change the subject , But can you still get SHOEI trials helmets , All of my past street and dirt helmets have been shoei's and I always loved them . But have not been able to find a trials helmet lately ? And I need/want a new one ... Thanks Glenn
  13. Well Brewtus ; Thank you for the info . But as to the cost of the bike ... I swapped this TY80I built for said son to another club member who snatched up this reflex before I did , He'll put his grandson on it when he's needs more than his Oset ... And yes I had way too much time and $ into the Big wheeled TY80 , But it works great and is in another trials home . And my son grew faster than I built the bike !!! But he loves the honda and it will get tweeked to the gills as young son earns it ! (and I will always have a cool back up bike !) But I do really need to spend some quality time with my section , she just wants to play too ! Thanks again , Glenn
  14. Doug I read somewhere about the noisy pistons in those , something about the piston skirt design or something , bottom end is most likely fine .... Glenn
  15. HHmmm... So the funky silencer that was in the box of stuff I got with the bikes , Is something special ? When I bought these two for $200.00 , one was a complete runner with ign. issues , and it came with more than a complete bike in box's ... I used what I learned from photo's to be the stock silencer at first , as the other one looked kinda tacky/homemade / abused ! I ran the red frame , as the other one is spray painted in redneck camo ! But I have learned a wee bit about the bikes since '05 when I bought them , back then I didn't even know what a fantic was ! I guess that can happen when you've been out of the sport since you where a kid in the early 70's ... I wonder if there is a record of Frame #s left anywhere ? I've got the original bill of sale and title that list the bike as a "used competition motorcycle , in as is condition " and was sold to a guy from Ca. Thanks Steve , more research required Glenn
  16. I've only found sketchy details of who rode the 83 or late 82 (title says 83 ) round in the states , But I would love to know who rode for the Fantic factory in that event , 'cause I do know for sure my 240 was left here after that event ... It's not quite like the other ones I've obtained , from the frame to the porting and the single wall expansion chamber ... Any clues I can chase ? Glenn
  17. I'm more interested in your gOOgle-able neighbor ... even though she's just starting to show age ... Glenn
  18. No Big Deal , Just a replate , some fresh seals , brgs. etc. , etc. And then see who can last another 30 years , Me or the bike ? And I've got to trick his up a little , so he doesn't look at my Fantic's !!! Glenn
  19. Would have liked to of known the man , a pioneer in our world . RIP. But why I logged on ... Hey Brewtus ! what is the PN# and where did you get the Cam Gear for OJ ? , I may be splitting the cases on my trusty 240 , so I may use my kids bike for a few events.... Thanks , Glenn
  20. The K&N is on the way for my son's bike , (been using them on EVERY thing I own since I was a wee pup in so cal. and they came on the market ...) and the cam gear change will happen when he can use it and the T-chain will be worn out by then ... Back out to the darkside to spend some Quality time with my section , cycletherapy always works for me after spending my days playing with 'restored!" Jag's . What some people will do to fine old autos ...?
  21. I'm at page 17 ... How long is this novel ???
  22. I didn't name it , But I had a great day riding with my son !
  23. Best thing there , next to the little kid , was the vid about the 5 stroke engine ...technology marches on !
  24. This is the second time you've made me feel homesick !!! I used to live in yucca valley , then Hesperia , then moved up in the world to Arrowhead ... You've probably seen a rock buggy I built and sold about 13 years ago to a gent from hesperia . 914/6 Porsche drivetrain , fenders mounted to suspension (move with wheels ) and license plates ... Was 78 L88 vette yellow when i sold it . Do your trials buddys ever get up to Deep Creek in Cedar Glen ? I always wanted to ride a trials bike there , unbelievable terrain and hot lady's sunning on the rocks ... If the economy ever comes back to life in cali I may move back ...
