When you look at his headers and welding , the word "art" comes to mind ... (think Big Block Chevy in a Fox body Mustang , and you can change the plugs with just a ratchet and extension !! )
Glenn

And Yes, it cleared the tire but not the shock under full compression , but we will shorten the body of the silencer and lengthen the inlet pipe to rectify that .... FREE is so cool on a $ cheap build ...
-
Valves adjusted and double checked etc . (damn honda frame in the way !) Timing chain quieted right down with a minor adjust... Even starts better with clean oil !!!! First test fit of exhaust repair/ (cheap customizing!!!) as the rear silencer is not worth the effort of getting the pieces out of ... A little welding work from my neighbor that builds custom headers you wouldn't want to pay for and all will work for now ! and I don't even know what or where the silencer came from/off but it was in the shop !!!....
Glenn
And yes it's held in place with a zip tye in the photo , but a little cutting / welding / drilling and it will look and work better than OE ... I rode it , off idle response is WAY !!!! better :)
-
What gearing/ sprockets are you running ? I'd like to keep the lock plate on the one I'm building for my son ...
Maybe a sweet as yours someday ....
Glenn
-
Am I mistaken .... or is that a old press release ????
Can't wait to try one though !!!
-
Luvin the Job , got to start on a SS100 after lunch
You gonna ride in TN. come November ?
-
Your chain looks a little rusty there !
-
Well after reading all the above , I think I'm gonna start a class action suit against Fantic .... Just what percentage of 240 frames cracked at the neck ??? I've got 2 spare frames and they both are , I want it warranted !... (oh wait , still can be the best T/S out there ... I'll shutup now .!)

Parts Showed up a day early !! Finished off the carb and fired her up . A shot or 2 of chemtool thru the carb after she warmed up and it started to run halfway decent ! Now I have to adjust the timing chain and valves , And figure out what to do with the rear muffler that is broke up and rattling inside .....Got to look around and see what I've got laying around to rectify that ....
But everything works about as it should , so will be a good bike to build up to a fun point !

Drove it today after 3 or 4 hrs of tinkering with the carb balence (DAMN AMALS !) and had the steering shaft unscrew from the box while in a turn @ 30+ ... Got it back to the shop to be told the car was built as a museum display piece and to their knowledge had never been actually driven ...
But it works now ...

I'll wait till the new float and valve get here , Carb cleaned up pretty good , just took a little time . I put the stock Section pegs on it for a little bigger peg for free ... It's geared 10/44 right now , so that will be a good basis for me to judge how I'll set it up for my son . He Can't wait to ride it !!! Still got to adjust/check the valves and change the oil after it fires on it's own . and gets a little de-carbonizing of the top end ...
And Andy M , Good Looking Bike there , I don't know how far I'll go with this reflex , kinda depends on my son's grades etc.....

OK ... It starts and runs , Moved it about the shop , Got to fix the throttle linkage and shift linkage before I test drive someone else's barbie car ! (think 1/2 the size of a Miata ...!)
Glenn , Having fun at work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
What a different !!! little car ! I know, completely off topic , but is a 3 cylinder 2stroke motorcycle engine ... If all finishes off well , I should test drive it today ....
-
For the $$$ I don't think you can beat Novogar's .....
IMHO!
Glenn

ordered all the carb bits this morning....
-
And to make things even odder ! The front fender on the bike is a nice O.E. Fantic fender ! Logo and all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Well a little bit worse than I thought ! Worse carb I've ever taken off a bike in about 40 years... Bike obviously sat outside with petcock on for quite a period of time .The following foto is after getting the bowl off and 2 cans of carb spray ! GREEN slime/grunge to the point the bowl was part of the body ... But after putting the carb in a bath to soak before further disassmbly , I shot some carb cleaner in the intake and gave her a kick ....
She fired right off and ran a few seconds , so it's worth the effort ! Gotta LOVE Honda's !

Thanks , that's about what I thought . I've got to do a '58 B95 and then a 58 B60 . Interesting microcars for their time ..

The Sensuous Wife
Upon arriving home from work our hero was greeted by his wife, dressed in a low cut and very sexy dress.
"Have you ever seen a twenty dollar bill all crumpled up?" She asked.
"No," said her husband.
She gave him a sexy little smile, slowly reached into her cleavage and pulled out a crumpled twenty dollar bill.
"Have you ever seen a fifty all crumpled up?" she asked.
"Uh, nope."
She gave him another sexy little smile, seductively reached into her panties and pulled out a crumpled fifty dollar bill.
"Now," she said, "Have you ever seen 50,000 dollars all crumpled up?"
"No," he said, now he’s really intrigued.

Got it home tonight ... Took off seat and seriously rusty (inside!!!and out) gastank and checked for spark , Big blue and jumped a serious gap !
Proceeded to soak bike in purple power to kill the mold and fungus growing all over it . It does have a fresh OE type airfilter in it in good shape , Still has the original fuel filter ??? ...And a set of decent Michelin's on it , so somebody cared about it at some time . The rest of the underpinnings (cables, brackets, and all the nifty stock honda stuff) looks to be un molested and stock with lots of adjustment left ... So I think I got my son a rode hard , put up wet , under a roof , but not out of the weather bike .So some carb dip and the good gas tank I was given with it and I'll see what we've got tomorrow .!!! (and my son already loves it so I've got to make it work !

I would suspect it's a brace to keep the expansion chamber on the bike and off the cylinder head ....?
Way Cool Crosser though ! Some serious port work there and The reed block looks huge to work with those transfers .
RING DING RING DING etc. etc.

Hey Jay !!!
Great to here all is well with you !
I'm heading to B&J for a weekend event in November and bringing my Fantic fm330 along with me to trial fit a 100cc reedvalve Roadtoad (?) engine to replace the seriously broken 50cc Minarelli unit . So after I get the motor installed in the frame satisfactorily and working correct in it's basic functions ,
I may be in touch with you on what to do to it to make it a trials motor ...
Well I've got to go load up my son's big wheeled ty80 and run up to NC. and swap it for a reflex for his next bike
And have you tried a ND iridium plug in the sleek Sherco/Hodaka ? I've yet to find anything better !
Got to go , Great to here from you ,

Best I can come up with so far ... 5/16 x 24 head studs / nuts ... I don't think anything more than about 18 - 20 ft.lbs. would appropriate considering the age of the unit ... ?
Any opinions ???
Glenn

To all my Trials cohorts across the pond ... I just started rebuilding a basket case Berkly with a Excelsior 3 cyl engine , All is going well except for one detail I can't find any info on anywhere ... What is a appropriate torque spec for these gasket-less cylender heads ????
Thanks for any info in advance !!!
