I just have to add , I LOVE the AVE.GAS in my bikes .... You should see the strange fuel related issue's I see at work ... And I live in a area with about 10 stations that sell 93 e-free ! and folks won't spend the extra pennies to keep their street bikes running sweet ! I just spent the better part of a day diagnosing a 2008 ZX6r with a fuel related problem ... 6k on the bike , Light corrosion in the tank , pickup filter plugged slap up ... Good fuel pressure , but no volume And the guy tells me after the 3rd interrogation , " I only run mid grade , 'cause I don't ride it hard " . Cleaned all 8 injectors , new fuel pump , a couple drops of marvel mystery oil in the tank with good fuel , and the bike will pull redline in every gear ... Almost a scary bike to go WFO on !
Glenn (and my Fantics always start by the 2nd or 3rd kick , no matter how long they sit neglected ....)

But I only had a taser on me for crowd control !!!!
-
I had one on mine when I was a yuongin .... I believe the brand name was ' Chain-tite ' chain tensioners , They used to make them for all kinds of bikes. Don't know if their still around though ....

Sorry to hear of your bad experience observing . When I observed in Tenn. marking the cards at the end of the section the riders were generally polite and somewhat respectful , even when they got 5's. And almost all of them said thank you for working on the last loop . I had a great couple of days

I just knew you had some Quality bike parts in there when I looked at the photo ! Now if Fantic would just reappear with the rumored LARGE 4stroke powered trials bike , I'd be a happy camper . I mean they are kickin a$$ in the enduro world ? so why not put that tech into trials ???
And I would really like to see a vid of your beast in action .

And now you've made me feel guilty about not letting my son's ride one of my fullsize Fantics in a event ...
They get to play on them in the yard , but very few folks besides me has ever ridden a section on one of them .
And the folks that have , have all been Financially capable pro class guys that know , you break it you bought it ... at my price !
But I have never flinched about letting my select few play on my bikes , always guy's I know who can ride much better than me !
Glenn
Fix the bike , and let your son ride it some more , He'll get a trials bike out of love of riding with his dad !!!

It depends on how the wheel is laced and which spoke broke ... Sometimes you may have to remove some surrounding spokes to change the one you broke . Take your time and think about which ones have to come out to allow you to remove the broke one. sometimes I number the hub and rim in order of sequence to remove and install them , put them all back where they came from . Close up photo's can help too ! And a touch of anti seize on the nipple end never hurts either .
Have Fun !!!!

Jimmie ; Bring the bike complete as you can to your pipe shop , as stated above that exhaust can be repaired . it may not be real pretty but as long as it works . Just make sure you get a estimate first , as the labor could outweigh a new pipe !! And your buddy should definitly kick in on the repair !!!!!!
Glenn

Bring it to his house , or at least let him build it for all the spares .... And a running motor is always a better start !
Just my 2pence worth !

The "mid box " in most two stroke trials bikes is the expansion chamber portion of the exhaust ... and two strokes depend on that for exhaust scavenging I believe , where as a four stroke single cyl. doesn't depend on scavenging as much to control exhaust pressure . I don't think it would run worth a sh?t as you plan to mod it .... But I'm not a exhaust engineer either ... But if a straight pipe would work , it would've been done long ago with success !?!?!
Glenn
(sorry about the crash & damage ! )

Check your tank vent too ...
-
quite the mental image of what that would be like to ride ...
Too Cool

Looks like your bicycle work pays off ! Great practice area

:hyper: :banana2: All's well that ends well !!

Chain sliders for the 240 are available , I've got a new one on my shelf ...As for a chain guard , just look closely at the swingarm and you will see the mounting ears , lots of folks make them out of aluminum bent over a piece of pipe and trimmed to fit the brackets .
As to your forks , making a brake stay shouldn't be a big job , just make sure it is stout enough , as to the spacers , try to fit the wheel using stacks of flat washers or whatever spacers you have about , keep the wheel centered and get your gaps down as small as you can so you don't bind the fork tubes when you tighten the axle .
Have fun !

I got the same basic kit (without the M.P. logo ) from pitposse for about 1/2 that . works fine for the little I use it . But when you need it , you need it !!!
http://pitposse.com/whbereset.html Ok , so the price has gone up since I got my set ....

Did you get up it or turn the bike towards the photographer ??? or install some new scratches in the Beta ???
AT least you were out having fun !

Always replace chains and sprockets as complete sets , They will last much longer .... New chain on old sprockets or new sprockets with a old chain will wear out really fast , the pieces are meant to mate together at a much closer tolerance than most think . If your chain is adjusted correctly , grab it at the back edge of the rear sprocket , if you can pull the chain away from the sprocket at all , it is worn . And the sides of sprocket teeth wear too !
Cheap insurance to save your cases and a crash .... And DO NOT flip your sprockets !!! They will wear really fast , wipe out your new chain and/or derail the chain .... And many of them are meant to be installed in one way , slight offsets etc, etc....

What are the Frame and engine #'s ???
-
If your referring to a bike like the one at the very bottom of this page http://fantic240pro..../UkGallerie.htm , restore it !!!!
If you modify it out of what it was , you may end up with a great bike to ride , but of no value to anyone but you .... It will hold value if restored .(I hope , that's why all my fantics are what they are ....)
Glenn , Have fun with it !
(and Tim , I'm 52 and you just made me feel old !!!!)
-
Ok , so now that you've had a round at your home , how was observing No-Stop ????
Just had to ask
Glenn
