Some more local humor....?
Cletus & Billy Bob
Cletus is passing by Billy Bob 's hay barn one day when, through a gap in the door, he sees Billy Bob doing a slow and sensual striptease in front of an old John Deere tractor.
He performs a slow pirouette, and gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls, followed by the left. He then hunches his shoulders forward and in a classic striptease move, lets his overalls fall down to his hips, revealing a torn and frayed plaid shirt.
Then, grabbing both sides of his shirt, he rips it apart to reveal his stained T-shirt underneath. With a final flourish, he tears the T-shirt from his body, and hurls his baseball cap onto a pile of hay.
Having seen enough, Cletus rushes in and says, "What the world're ya doing, Billy Bob ?"
"Good grief, Cletus, ya scared the bejeebers out of me," says an obviously embarrassed Billy Bob ..
"But me 'n the wife been havin trouble lately in the bedroom d'partment, and the therapist suggested I do something sexy to a tractor."
(Don't make me come splain this to you!
Read the last line again, slowly.)

With a top quality synthetic premix oil 70 : 1 should be fine , If your using dinosaur based oil , 50 : 1
And make sure you use PRE-MIX oil , not oil injection oil !!!!
Have fun !!!

Let me look in my pile of 240 stuff , I know I have a pristine 300 seat , but I think I've got another good 240 seat too .
PM me and we can figure out the details .

I don't know the honda spec's per say , but experience in go -karts and spec miata racing might want to try a anti - reversion cone just inside the headpipe . If you can get the rest of the exhaust to flow with only a couple pounds of back pressure , a little cone inside the headpipe of a four stroke helps scavenging of the exhaust gases greatly ... It made a dramatic difference in the torque curves for both a 440 Mopar that I got into the winter nationals , a 1.6 litre miata that set a few track records , and my kids briggs and stratton powered gokart ... but watch your plugs closely , as it will lean out the engine just a tick ...
Glenn , have fun if you can ...

And show us a photo and we may be able to help ...

On both sets of 35mm Forks I've got for my 240 there is a very thin plate that inserts into the pinch gap to prevent distortion and cracking of the fork leg , I'd bet these are missing on most bikes by now ...

make sure the flywheel and crankend are lapped together correctly , and the keyway is only there to locate the flywheel , the flywheel is secured by the press/interference fit of the crank and flywheel with the proper torque on the nut. if it comes off without a puller something isn't fitting together correctly ...

Maybe one of the last 300 pro's that was converted to a mono by a dealer , back in the day ...
http://fantic240pro.pagesperso-orange.fr/UkGallerie.htm Scroll to the bottom of this page , that's where the mono Fantics started , ( I Think )

As above , Take a few photo's , pay attention to how the spring , bushing , and washers are installed , and just do one at a time !!!
My 13 yr. old can do it ....
-
Check the basket as in the Beta Fix , and make sure you've got a Domino lever (it's a geometry thing ) as they are the only ones that work correctly ...
And 240's slip a wee bit in 6th from new , not much to do about that . My clutch action improved drastically with Silkolene light gear oil , and got even better when I changed it to Redline ... at the suggestion of another engineer buddy of mine
-
Heck Cope , That's just a pickup line here in SC. ....
-
Great info for the memory banks . I like it ! Like I found with my old Fantics , Redline gear oil works best for me ...

I can relate ....!!!!$$$$

C C ... I don't think the tank will shrink back , but maybe emptying it and letting it completely dry out may help !? I thought of applying a light vacuum to it after it is totally dry (small vac. pump like we mech.'s use for testing things .) with it sitting in the sun , but that may distort it in other ways ...

I must just be lucky , I've got a tiny airport about 5 mins. from my house and I go there enough I'm on first name basis ..., But I buy ave gas for all my toys , race cars and bikes .... They just can only put it in a plane or legal fuel can , not directly into any other type of vehicle ...
And on 5/18/13 the last 5 gallons of 110 I got was $5.80 a gallon , cheap insurance for my bikes ...
In fact I'm gonna take my bosses '67 427ci Vette convertible out there with a 5 gallon can and fill it 5 gallons at a time ... Just 'cause it doesn't get driven much at all , and even the race fuel goes bad fairly quickly , and there is nothing worse than 700hp detonation from sour fuel !!!! He tried 5 gals in his blown big block 67 chevelle and decided it's the way to go !
