I'm gonna go out and ride some in my yard today after grocery shopping . Hopefully I can beat the afternoon t-storms in my lake ! (i mean yard ...)
May just end up spending the day in my little shop fiddling about and drinking a beer or twee ...

HHMMMM .... I drink enough beer ... But the only practice time I usually get is about 15 mins. before a event .... Man I hate when life gets in the way of trials ...

Mike @ the trials shop in NY supplied me with a new for my '97 section . My old one still works But I thought if it's available , I should have a spare ...
The metal to metal thermo switch is about the only hokey thing I've found on my section , I may change it to a inline universal (in the upper rad hose) style one anyways , as I've found that mine never shuts off once it turns on ... and I haven't even ridden the bike hard on a hot day yet ! But I have yet to disassemble the bike and make it new again , so it may have other issue's too !
And we need to know where in the world you are , then we can help better !

That sounds like what my kid did to the Fantic 50 ... Like he was testing it to see how long it could go WFO in 2nd gear ... Then the piston broke ...
And he wonders why he can't ride my 240 or section ...?????? Maybe common sense improves with age ? I HOPE !!!!!

If you have a true 125 pro (forward kick , fantic engine'd ) bike , you've got a very rare ride these days , Take good care of it and enjoy the rewards it can give you .! Wish I had one ...

I don't think there is a bad apple in all of our homegrown young stars , They all are great people and their parents should be quite proud of them, a nice reflection on the usa trials scene ...

I must be easy ... All of my kids outgrown gear has been given to other folks in the clubs I'm in , that have children that are truly into trials ...
And now that they're both big enough to get my hand me downs when I break down and buy new gear ... But now they keep eyeballing my bikes too !!!!
(and that ain't gonna happen !!!)
I'd buy them newer bikes before I let them try to kill one of my Fantics !!!
Grumpy old man ...

That would be it above ,

At least at the WR. in TN. , Bou's bike had a subdued top fuel dragster pitch / crackle to the exhaust note and Fuji's sounded like a trick honda ....
But both sounded quite different from a stock mont , and all the other works bikes that were there ...
I was parked about 30 yards away from them in the paddock with just some tree's and rocks separating us , on Friday before the event the whole crew was walking back from the "testing area " and my bikes were corralled around a tree while I ate lunch . They stopped and were checking out the stash of Fantic's when the oldest Spanish gentleman with them noticed my Fantic trials bicycle ! And then got all the other guys to focus on it and they asked in broken english if it was "original " several times ... I said yes , right down to the tires and rolled it away from the other bikes so he could see it better , Then they took turns taking pictures of each other holding the "original " Fantic trials bicycle ... I thought it was funny they were amazed by a old bicycle ... But they were all in a good mood , as bou's bike had arrived late and he had just ridden it and all was good ...
Just one of my neat memories of the event

Looking at the sides/edges of the new black excel rims I just recently (in trials event time , maybe 8 rides ) laced onto my 240 pro , I'd have to go for the lack of stickers ... they may make it thru a season with me ...

Happy B'Day Zippy , Just think , You can go out drinking all legal now !!! (or was that last year ?)
Glenn

-
you may want to throw some rings in it , just for peace fo mind ,as they may have lost abit of their tension now ....
Glenn
-
Contact Chris at Classic trials , he may be able to tell you a starting point .... But don't cook your bike in the meantime !!!
-
Until you've sat thru a observers meeting and observed , QUIT BITCHIN !!!!!
-
Do we know anyone that is observing ????
-
And if your in a event in a warm climate , you may want to check your pressure each loop ... They do go up with heat !
Glenn

obviously a waste of typing ....

Dear Funtrials ... I wish you knew to whom you speak ... I was at the round in TN. I observed a section . And except for the riders having to link all the components of the sections together on the fly , (aka knowing where the move to do one thing leaves you for the next thing , without the option of stopping and re aiming your trajectory ) I don't see where much if anything really changed ... except for maybe the riders thinking on their own a little more ...
And twinshocked IS one of the best trials riders I know , he is one of those guys that can do all the trick moves on any bike ,a 2013 whatever or a 200+lb honda , and he likes them all ... But like most of us here in the real world , he rides for his own satisfaction , not for anyone else . A true trials rider ... who is always willing to help , teach , instruct other riders to improve themselves ...
Just my 2 cents ,now I'm gonna go replace the coil on my son's TY80 and then fire up one or two of my fantics and play with my kids for fathers day !
And see if maybe they will listen to me on what NOT to do to their trials bikes ...
have a great day ,
Glenn

Hey Zippy , your letting out the performance secret of my trusty 240 pro !!!! Alloy slow tube
Glenn

That's what we were told at the WR in Tn. , It's only a 5 if the observer has to reset / re secure the marker . Glad the NATC is following suit.

Cool Vid ! you gonna pay for my plane ticket for me and my bike next year ????
Glenn

I tried that line with my 16 yr old .... He said "okay" and proceeded to crash his Fantic !!! He listens to the old man now (sometimes....)
GOOD LUCK Team Fracy !!!!

"he stopped just before the last hill when he flicked the back end round so it was a 5 anyway" .Easy to say when your watching a twitchy video with gaps in the shot , taken from about 50 feet away , at a bad angle ... I was there , I worked that section all day Sunday , Watched all the riders inspect/walk the section on Friday for a few hours ... Got the T-shirt to prove it ! ,and we scored all the riders the same as we were instructed to . So until you are there live and accept the responsibility of the job , you can armchair observe to your hearts content !!! And I just know you could've done better ............................................. ?

Here's my favorite photo of the event ...
