    Classic Trials

I'm on the other side of the pond , But I've had nothing but good experiences in my dealings with Chris at Classic Trials , in fact some might say my 240 is one of his "works " bikes . As he has had almost as much input on its workings as I have , and anybody that has ever ridden it comes away quite impressed with the old girl .... Just make sure your engine is totally sound first , as modifications do not FIX problems ! Glenn
  3. AS above , Just try to start doing it ... The sweet old bikes will come out of the woodwork .... Especially where you live , I bet their hiding all over the place .... Glenn
  4. Thanks Mark , Jitse makes one too that has a brg. in it . But the Hebo one on my 240 with a aluminum throttle tube is the bomb , makes for a really smooth throttle pull . That S3 one looks like it depends on a nylon bushing against the inside of the Bar ... May work well with some graphite or such too !... Time will tell . Glenn
  5. And as luck would have it .. I brought the ty80 to the world round with me to use as a pit bike while all my fantics were in a vintage show ... And of course after 39 years of use/ abuse she would not start ... No Spark !!!! So I just now got around to checking it out , and the coil has a short ... primary to earth ... And what are the odds that my never ending ebay auto search kicks out a new TY80 coil with plug lead for $12.49 w/free shipping ! So I guess my kid will be riding again next weekend ... Glenn
  6. You need indoor stop &hop circus trials for the X Games ,the bigger the better ! But you also need video monitors to show what Trials as we know it actually is , and how friendly and inexpensive trials really is . lets expand the realm of trials here ! Americas got talent was only the first step ! (they should've been at the WR with a camera to add a footnote to a show , to show what Patrick really can do ! Just my 2 pence ... Glenn
  7. That was the section I worked Sunday , The guy with the camera had to be standing just to my right across the creek . The large rock he does the 180 ' hop on was where Pat's bike launched from and just missed me (thanks TREE ! ) To bad the photographer twitched right as he clipped the tree with his bars ... And it was steeper than the camera shows by a long shot ... Glenn
  8. I wanted a hebo roller throttle /bar end for the section I'm building , but was told they are no longer ... DRAT !!! Glenn
  9. Just get it (if it runs ...) Then worry about the details later ... It's a honda ! you'll always be able to sell it , or keep it for your youngster to develop on ... Glenn
  10. And that was the second time that day , his bike stalled in section 3 earlier , and he was p****d , but polite and did not throw a fit ...
  11. The Engine #'s are under the carb on the sprocket side , Will say FM ??? , ???cc
  12. And when did you get a Section ? My 97 has a sight glass too...
  13. I haven't really been following this thread , but I was quite impressed watching the spanish guys play with the electric gas gas at the world round in TN. From what I saw , it definitely works ....
  14. Steve , 500cc . PM your email address and I'll send you the info I've got if you need it ... Glenn
  15. I'll look it up and get right back to you
  16. I do the same with my 13 year old , my 16 yr one thinks he knows it all .... already ! Brad got Bernie to sign the tank on my 240 pro , and thierry was there too and he signed it too ! Now I've got to get another tank to use ... But it was great to see and talk to Bernie one on one for just a few moments , his being only a year older than me , made him one of my childhood idles , riding trials in New England as a kid , all I ever saw in magazines about trials was about this kid in California that was kicking everybody's A$$... Good to see him out and about and enjoying himself . Glenn
  17. Tell her Great shots ! Doug , and wasn't it great to see Bernie out and about again ?! Glenn
  18. I can't help how other folks keep score , but in our section sunday we didn't play games and I think word spread thru the riders quickly... I hope somewhere out there , there is some footage of the section I worked . We scored ALL the riders the same . Glenn
  19. I unloaded my van and trailer and put them all in the shop for a rest till my next event ....
  20. "How much more spectacular with stop allowed? " IMHO not at all ... It was great to see the riders Thinking and getting set up on the fly ,and to make line adjustments without stopping and hopping sideways , seemed to bring back some of the thinking mans sport that has been missing for awhile . The big obstacles were still there , they just had a little more setup/approach room in front of them . The riders had to look at the section as a whole , not just figure out how to string together their stunts ... Glenn
  21. Was that a MGA or a healy towing the bikes at the beginning of clip 1 ? I couldn't tell as they looked a bit different over here ...
  22. I was there , observed section 3 on sunday ... Fuji's bike died first loop ,a 1 on the second loop and clean on the third , I remember his rides 'cause he was nice while I punched his card ... Raga's left bar end / hand hit a tree and crashed at the top and came tumbling down the hill behind his bike on his third loop. I've never heard some of the spanish cuss words that came out of him as he composed himself and checked his bike . But when I stretched the ribbon up for him to come out of the section so I could punch his card , it was obvious he was mad at himself ... I don't remember all of Bou's scores but he was always business like at the end and quickly held his card up and still , and always said thanks ... no matter what the look on his face was saying ... Alot of the younger spanish guys would try to move and snatch their card away while I was punching it ??? Don't they know that the sheet I wrote every riders # and score on was done before their card ? And Jack Challoner (sp?) is a force to be reckoned with !!! And a nice guy too . He will go far . Pat had about the smoothest ride of the day up thru the slick rooted mini ravine , made a beautiful turn at the top to the left to set up for the 180 that was required to hit the next cards, misplaced his back wheel and came off the rock , his bike hitting the tree that was holding up our scoreboard ... I'm really glad that tree was there ! But as he and Ryan dusted off his controls and made sure all was working , he hands me his card to punch with a smile and says " man , it's been a long day ! " And There was no mention of 2 sec. during the observer's meetings ! It was stated to use your best judgement , benefit of ANY DOUBT to the rider and to observe to the spirit of no stop . I punched ALOT of 5's ! And never got a argument . But our whole section except for one turn thru a running rocky stream at the bottom of the entrance decent was almost un walkable either up or down . And on a lighter note , Thierry Michaud and Bernie Schreiber both signed the tank of my trusty Fantic All in all a Great weekend , I wish I had my camera with me when I sat at the section from 2 to 5 Friday afternoon while the riders got to walk and inspect it ... The photo of Bou , Fuji , Raga and Caby standing atop the big rock together and pointing fingers while discussing how to do it would've been priceless to us trials guys ... And the riders wanted 5 sections harder for sunday , They got their wish . Here's a couple from Sat. And you have to witness it live , Videos don't do them any justice at all Glenn
  23. 8:17 pm local time ... van and trailer loaded with bikes and vacation gear !!!! leave at 6:00 am for Tennessee ! And boy do I have a $hit load of Fantics to tote along !!! Can't wait to be there ! Glenn
  24. Is the speedo drive missing ? or did someone make up to narrow a spacer to replace it ?
  25. Cleaned all of them , put the top end back on the 50 so it can go to the bike show at the WR next week, (piston less ...) bought some ave gas and mixed it @ 70 to 1 for all my bikes , and then rode my 240 for a bit ... just cause I like to ! ... and put air in the bicycle 's tires too ! Glenn
