:( First dilemma .... Changed out the foot pegs last nite to find that one of the allen bolts had been changed to a sae bolt ! I was making use of the mass quantity of stainless hardware I've got in bins , to find that one of the bolts has been replaced with a force fitted SAE bolt !!! Now do I tap it back to the correct thread ? or do I drill it and put a heli coil into the cast aluminum frame piece ? WE are after the best repair here .... Or just retap it and see if the is enough material to do the job ? And my fabricator told me tonight to get a flush gas cap and he will do a one of a kind tank ..... PIMPING !!!!
  3. That"s strange to me, Here in our ITSA events the clubman line is the intermediate line for us old experts? that still have to go to work on monday that don't want to ride the expert/pro lines .... And still have fun :) (every time I ride my bike !!!) Glenn

OK .. 1/2 a hour on the bike and the mods begin ... Replace cracked , dry brittle rear disc guard with a hand made aluminum piece ... And do you guys think I would be insane if I got my neighbor/buddy/fabricator to build me a aluminum flat tank to fill the void of the stock plastic tank ? It would help make it the trials bike it would have been , if Fantic had survived a few more years ... And yeah I still have to clean my shop , but the Miata pieces are at work ! And did you notice how gasgas is copying Fantic with the in board chain adjuster ??? who da thunk it ...

UMMM ... It will save money on brake cleaner ? And you only have to buy the machine once . You may change the solvent annually depending on the amount of use . And you can get a cheap one at harbor freight or northern tool that will do the job just fine for home use. .... ??? It will cut down on the time you spend cleaning things , so you can spend more time with her !!! That's all I got
  6. Thanks for getting the link correct for me ! Long day , late at nite etc. etc.... Glenn
  7. I just finished reading a article in the AMA Mag about Karl Davis and Bryon Roper planning to hit Europe in 2014 !!!!!! !st off , when was the last time a couple of trials riders made the cover ??? 2nd. off ,,I;ve never met Bryon , but I spent a wonderful weekend at TTC a few years ago . And spent alot of time riding with Karl and watching his style ... And I've ridden events since with him too , not ever in his class ... And this young man is someone we need to represent us in our world ! He is polite , respectful , friendly and aggressive as you can be on a trials bike ... His dad must be very proud .as he is a top rider too . WE all need to donate what ever we can ! check his places for contact ; teansherco.wix.com/americandreamtrip Help them make us proud and boost our sport here !!! we need another Bernie !! And these two have the skills and mindset to make it real ..........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glenn
  8. My boys have wiped my pc 3 times in the last 8 years ... I really should have a back up disc ...Had to start from ground zero every time !

I'll take them to work with me and clean them up in the parts washer . Brake cleaner works great for alot of things, but in this case I'll only use it to rinse the solvent off , after they are clean and ready to reassemble

First wrench applied ... Went out to the shop last nite after work and removed the drain plugs from the forks . Must have been the OE oil , real stinky and lumpy ... Looks like they have to come all the way apart just to clean the sludge out And I ordered a fork oil gauge , to set the level correctly.

Well do to my 16 !/2 year olds new ninja 300 and the associated 40mph in 25 mph residential zone !%$$##!! speeding ticket on MY NEW BIKE ... I think my projected budget has eliminated my entering options ... I think I will work a section with one of my STRA buddies instead , and play in the ITSA trials on Friday ... And put my 240 in our bike show tent ? Man I hate being old and broke ...! Glenn
  14. Check the source coil and pickup trigger on stator plate , and make sure all your grounds are clean and tight ... I've got the resistance specs at home somewhere if you need them . And check keyway for flywheel, it locates everything ...
  15. I'd have to say the same ... your legs are the best suspension you've got ! let the bike come to you a little with your arms and legs . relax ,,, smoothness makes it all easier ...

Copied it from the OE diagram , just left out the stuff I don't need Just went to the home depot and got some custom pvc pipe and a fitting for fork seal tools ... and some cool velcro stuff for wire harness retainers . Now to move the Miata engine and peices to work so I can move around in my little shop at home .
  17. Mounted up the 3.50 x17 chen-sing on the ty80 is right about 3 1/2 inches wide and 24 1/2 OD , it was cheap and does the job OK .
  18. I used a 17 inch rim for the rear of my sons TY80 , to match the 19 front ... When I get out to the shop this morning I'll measure it for you . The rim came from a old honda SL100 if I remember correctly ., and I laced it to the donor xr100 rear hub , worked great , and cheap ! PM me where you are at , I'd like to see your play ground , I've just got flat mudddddd ...! Glenn

So no RESPONSE!!!! OK I made it to the hard lines when I was a kid , stopped riding trials around '75 , got back on a trials bike in 05 , and can't do the things I did when I was young , but still ride the int. line and have fun without stress ... 53 yrs young and wonder if I should try , or just have fun with the ITSA Crew at our fun trial on Friday and bike show , then watch the event , or observe or what ever ... Glenn Maybe I should call Charlie (whom I've rode with a few times ) and ask what he thinks and or is laying out .. Mental dilemma...?!?!$$**!!
  21. Would these be the same Paoli 38 mm forks that are on my 97 fantic section ? Glenn

aka you must be on a 125 or larger ... I just read all the info and forms / fee's and not sure if I can fit the extra $$$ into my vacation budget ...But you only live once and me and the kids can live on top ramen and veggies for a few days .... They'll understand !!!. And maybe I should live by Stirlings quote for a few days .
  23. Hhmmm . The owners manual I obtained for my 97 section 250 claims 21hp ... And pre major service and maintenance it sure feels like it ...
  24. I've got a 240 and love it . the 300 has a smoother power delivery than the 240 , ride them both and see which one fits you , and is in better shape... They both are great bikes ... Glenn
