I've got the form in my inbox from Ashley @ ttc ... I may just check off one Bucket list item ...! I think just finishing it on my trusty 240 will be reward enough...
Or senility is setting in ?

It's really just a guideline so I have reference to the mass of wires that I can eliminate ...
And the forks will be fine , The tubes are flawless that I can see and I'm just waiting on the Ariete fork seals to show , along with a bunch of other stuff...
-
IMG.pdfI know the go up and down ... But are they supposed to drip ? The info on them is on it's way ... And I spent the afternoon making a streamlined wiring diagram from all my translations ... minus lights, horn etc... Look at it and see if you think it's correct ...

But Can Mr Bou ride Hardcore No stop ? like the SSDT ???
And yes he is AMAZING ....
-
Last nite I got all the info for the section in a email from Chris from the French fantic club . Still not quite all the info I want/need , but at least I got a wireing diagram for it so I can streamline it without quessing .... Still need more info on the paoli forks ...
Back to work now !

Doug I'm pretty sure your right ... All the forward kick fantic built motors were installed in 240 based frames . The minnarelli (sp?) powered bikes are all based back to the earlier fantics , such as my fm330 50cc model , with many different forks used . The 200 pro is preferred by many for it's smooth tractable power vs. the 240's peaky hit ... aka a properly tuned and tweeked 240 makes alot more hp than the 300 that replaced it , but the 300 has a much smoother torque curve. The 240's helped drive the sport into the hop and stop method of riding ... I think ... But then in the little time I have playing on my new section ... half again as much power as my 240 , with a much stronger , yet smoother delivery ???They all work different and all quite well , it just depends on how your right wrist is connected to your back tires contact patch ....
So yes a Fantic 200 , 125 etc. , is a very different bike than a 125 or 200 , pro model , But don't quote me on any of it !!!!
-
Man, I hate waiting for parts ... 'cause at my age if I take it apart now I won't remember how to put it back together !!!!

It hurts us all ...our government is always declaring Barron unused land as "wilderness areas" As in you can't even ride your horse there ...! And then we've got the hard core greenies doing everything they can to stop us from using the land we've already been given rights to access ...
And your not mistaken , there are places in our landscape where you can look 360 degrees around with binoculars and not see any signs of the human race ... But don't think you can operate any motorized vehicle on the space .!
Even our national enduro series has become a 3 or 4 lap motocross race around a 15 to 30 mile loop , instead of the stay on your minute 200 mile event , with every mile new to you ... that I used to ride as a youngster ... What is killing our sport is twofold , At the clublevel it's not dramatic aka supercross style , and at the world level , even us seasoned long time trials guys go "WTF ! how did he do that !!!" It was supposed to be the sport of the future in the mid/late 70's , But then the crash and burn high speed danger of motocross overpowered our best efforts to gain awareness ...
Going fast is easy , Going slow is HARD !!!
enough of a rant for today ....

I suddenly have the urge to clean my little home shop and build the Miata motor that is in pieces and box's all over the place in there ... Just so I have room to spread the section out all over the place and do the full tilt pimp your ride thing to her ...
-
Case point ... The Mint 400 , The Barstow to Vegas ... Great Desert races , But I do believe they don't exist anymore do to land use issues ...

Well after a few hours on the new girl , I think all the previously mentioned parts I ordered from the Trials shop this morning will do her just fine ...
And as the left side panel will not stay engaged to the tank securely ??? this is how she looks now .
And again Doug , here is a photo of the actual tip of the shifter , It can be duplicated with a spring and a small piece of pipe with a notch cut out of it ... I'm sure you can devise something !!! Sorry for the bad photo , but you can see how it's done ...
Glenn
-
WOW ... Fantastic work there !!!!
-
Yes it's a phbl 26 or 28 , can't see the size clearly with it on the bike ... And Doug here's a photo of the shifter on my 240 , the section one is the same ,only aluminum. I didn't go to NC for school due to a rough week @ work (old and real sore...!) So I'm gonna ride the section in the yard and get it good and hot and see what she wants/needs ... Besides what I've already ordered for it .
-
From what I've found out , Check all the motor mount bolts pre ride every time and then no frame issues... Yes I got it from Jim in AL. After seeing, riding and checking it out as thoroughly as I could in his yard I parted with 30 fifty dollar bills . By all appearances so far and at the time of purchase ,
The bike needs fork seals (real easy on the paolis!! a kill switch (I did that yesterday) rear wheel brgs. And the cooling system cleaned out , strange substance in the in frame coolant tank... Looks like someone put oil into tank ? thinking it had injection ? Time will tell...
Go to VXB bearings online , if you've got the dimensions , they've got any type of bearing or heim you could want !
And does anybody know what all the dampening knobs on the forks and shock adjust ? aka which is what ?
Thanks ,
Glenn
(and yes it hurt to part with that much cash , but I feel I got what I paid for )
-
Ok figured out the kill switch , got to run to the local bike shop and get a new switch ... I can eliminate a bunch of wires too..Got some real weird $hit in the rad ... Got to replace the hoses just cause, and will most likely do the WP. at the same time just so I know . No H20 in the crank case so I am happy there ...But the fan works and the motor doesn't make any strange sounds , so I'm happy with the buy ... And it's got a big ole weight bolted to the flywheel ... I wonder if it will fit on the Pipey 240 !!...
-
OK... Here I am as a old guy with a 240 pro ... Clutch is one finger feather lite ... I've watched Ryan Young ride my bike and do things (with his grin ) that I can only dream of... I just got a 97 Section in pristine condition (except for leaking fork seals and a inop kill switch .) And I already can do things I didn't think I could ... So I just took a major technology jump and am amazed at evolution !
But trials is still a thinking mans sport , PICK YOUR LINE AND STICK TO IT !!! don't stop in the middle of a section to decide what to do ! keep moving forward ................. plan your dab if you need to , And Chuck I'll ride support / whatever if they will let me in TN , or I will Observe ... I can cuss back in spanish , French and italian ....I got no problem giving a five to anybody , The circus act trials is unbelievable , but come on , how many people think they can PARTICIPATE at that level ???. I just want to ride my bikes and have fun with my friends.
Glenn
See you at TTC !
-
I'll get a shot of the shifter asap , Same one as I put on the 240 ...
Yeah I rode it a little before handing over cash ... Must have a flywheel weight , idles low and clean , will hurt your elbows when it comes on to it's powerband ... But pretty smooth overall . Needs fork seals a year ago , and got to put a working kill switch on it ! It is really hard to make it stall ...
Mike @ the trials shop just told me he has anything and everything I may want for the new girl ... I'm just gonna make it new before I start using it .
Everything but the rear tire and all the brake pads look to be OE.
PS. Mike may have the shifter you want , no fab needed !
Glenn

Steve, Contact Chris at Classic Trials , He will most likely have a properly jetted and idle circuit customized OKO with needed adapters on hand for your new 200 ... He KNOWS carb set up ! I'm gonna contact him soon about one for the new section , although I may see what he recomends kehin wise for it .
And PS. the section is SWEET !!! needs fork seals and a few trivial brgs. But the skidplate isn't even abused and the rims are both true . Can't wait to put some time into it and on it ...
Glenn
-
Take them out and take them with you , there should be a part # on them that they can match up . Just remember where they came out from , top and bottom may be different ...
Glenn
-
Mark ... I just have to have it to complete my Fantic collection ! And I'll post photo's of it as my build progresses , it may end up as sweet as my 240 !
Now to find a manual for it ... any ideas ? Anyone !!!
