Or just have the countershaft and swingarm pivot be one and the same , hence constant center distance between sprockets ... aka BMW ...
-
Great !
I didn't notice itsa listed in under your clubs .... my mistake
-
Sounds like you need to meet and ride with our ITSA group out there , They put on some fantastic events .
"Mountain West Vintage Trials Association"

Well as luck would have it ... I found a company in Italy that says they have the parts ... I've just got to yank the crank out for some crucial measurements . Turns out that there are several versions of the little Minarelli engine in 4 ,5 and 6 speeds and they all look about the same from the outside
Time and $ will tell .

Yes , with further research I found it to be a bicycle trials helmet ...
Oh well ... I've got a Fantic trials bicycle too , to go along with the motorcycles ...
-
And for fun with your son , you can always do a big wheel TY80 conversion like I did , and by the time your done , your son will understand and appreciate his bike and it's workings even more ...(we can hope )
http://www.trialscen...ous-ty-80-mods/
And in the end it turned into a competitive twinshocker that always draws alot of questions as to just what it is
Glenn
And now I find myself looking for a TY175 for his move up ...
-
Maybe find a ty80 for him to get the clutch thing under control , and then move to a modern bike ....???
-
Does anybody use one ????
As I just did a stupid thing and bought one (still in box ) for $25.00 +shipping on a bored at home whim ...
-
I'd be willing to bet JTG's got a waiting list for bikes ...
Sometimes it's quality , not quantity , that make all the difference ...
-
No , it's just your eyes playing tricks on you ...................

Go to the website and find the location for the event last weekend , same spot @ Toms property in shelby , And we hold events @ lake houser , you should get in for $6.00 with a trials bike .... (club deal )... Tom's place is about 15 min's from houser ...
-
Cool . I'm just gonna spend the day cleaning / servicing my bikes and grocery shopping ...
life goes on

Well then I guess you just have to come out and ride with us !!! Check out our clubs website http://metrolinatrials.com/ . We are having a fun ride in Shelby NC. today ... Always a good time , and between our membership we can answer any questions you may have ...
-
Good rear shocks that keep the wheel on the ground while allowing the absorption of bumps/roots/rocks etc. , and not disturbing the attitude of the bike and rider are one of the best improvements that can be made to a older twinshock ...(next to new tires !) . Technology has come along way !!!
And just about any new trials shock will be better than the O.E. units ...
Glenn
Hope you had fun today !

Look on this page , http://www.fantictrials.co.uk/ . Down the page a little ...Thanks to Bob Wright

Although the time tested elbow grease method does work...

"The best thought out engine ever was the Fantic. Forward starting kickstart.(If you ever rode one and had to start it in a awkward spot) Also the shift lever was the best ever! "
I've started mine feetup after a stall in a section at least once I can remember , any other bike and I would of 5'd ...

Call Adrian at Lewisports , He knows all about TLR's ....
Glenn
-
In fact , contact sting32 on these forums , he's close to you and his dad rides too ...

I installed the barrel and reed cage and new piston that Bob @ B&J racing ported and set up for me (over a year ago !!!) yesterday .
What a differance , a fresh top end and Boysen reeds make on the little monster
Now it's truly FUN to ride !!! it actually has torque where it should !
Glenn

Doug ;
I was just looking at the website above ...
That may be alot cheaper way to keep the bike alive , and they make a heavy duty clutch too !
And all at a reasonable price with parts backup ...
Thanks
Glenn
( just have too find a way to gear it down as low as possable...)

I'm not sure of the name , but I'm pretty sure there is a good sized club near you ... And you'll find all kinds of folks at trials events . From young hot shoes to old farts like me just out having fun . I just compete for my own pleasure and sometimes for other folks entertainment !
But be forewarned it is highly addictive !!

I took the top end of the little fantic 50 apart yesterday to see how bad it is ... Long story short ... , any one got a crank , rod and piston for one ? Small piece of piston skirt missing ,(1/2 a lima bean size ) , 1/4 inch vertical movement in big end brg. cylinder will survive ....
Or any thoughts on a different motor for this chassis ?

Looks like you have a really good start
Where are you located ?
you've got to get to a event when your done , if you can ride that bimmer around, you'll do fine on the bultaco .
