Andy Did You get Hit ? Excellent shot though !...

I'd have to dig up the invoice , but just over 500.00 + shipping . But well worth it ...
-
Didn't you really mean "crash test dummy " ???
Glenn

I've got heat wrap on my fantic.... Under the seat to help keep the radiant heat off the carb , and air box and to help the plastic sidecovers live a longer life, as except for the spare set of Really Flexible ones Lee Harris hooked me up with a few years ago, They are pretty much Unobtainium with the OE. type mounts ...
And yes in race cars we always wrap headers , but for two reasons . 1 is to improve the thermal efficiency and exhaust velocity (we won't get into stepped header and chambered pipe discussions here ) and 2 is to lower the underhood temp. Every little bit helps...
-
Yep ! I've got a brochure somewhere with that in it . Would be a blast in the Great White North !

Vacuum leak ? worn reed vales ? (not seating ?)

I've got the FM236 special (alloy rims and skidplate) , But Man ...A Fantic lawnmower and my collection would be complete (for now.) Could their diversification been part of their downfall ??? They still make highend coffee machines though ....
-
A good impact screwdriver with fresh bits will be your best friend ... Just remember to hold pressure on it when striking !! (but I know you know that ... )
-
If I had a dime for every one that I've cut off , lefthanded drilled , or heli-coiled just to be able to do a minor repair ...
And I've got Boxes full of all different size stainless allen head bolts and nuts and washers all neatly organized just for such ... So much cheaper to buy in bulk beforehand ....
-
Kuma ;
Sorry I haven't got back to you yet , been real busy lately (opened a new shop) . But I was out cleaning up my shop at home yesterday and didn't run across one in all my spare engine parts , but I've got a couple other boxes of hardware to look thru yet today . I'll let you know something later today one way or the other ...

They are from Works Performance , alloy everything , gas charged , dual rate springs, 13mm shafts (HUGE!) and serviceable Heim Joints at both ends along with a offset top mount to clear everything ,14 5/8 eye to eye and I was told the dampening rate is Lane Levitts end result from his Bultaco days way back when ... Works sends you a Dimension/ layout sheet for oneoffs like these so they get the dimensions and leverage / angles that the shock will be used at along with all the involved weights .
They work Fantastic , No initial bind at all and on uphill muddy rooted stuff the back tire just stays planted , you don't feel any of the small stuff at all . unbelievable traction for a twinshock . Once I got the preload and sag set , it feels like a good modern mono now . and they are completely rebuildable with the correct tools and gas charging equipment . (that is all at my friends shop in NC.) And I didn't weigh them ,but I'd say their about 1/3 lighter than the falcons that came off .(and will get rebuilt one day and live on the FM330 or our overgrown TY80 ..)
Now if I can practice enough to use 1/2 my bikes potential , I'll be a happy camper !

Not as cool as Daves , but here's the old girl with new suspenders ...(and I need a better camera ...)
Glenn
And Keith , I'll see you at Lake Houser , so you can give her a romp ...

OOPS didn't see the above post , but same sentiment ...
And Cope ; yes my wrists and hands are calibrated in inch and foot pounds , there is a switch on my elbow to change between them . But something I experience drastically more here in South Carolina , than I ever saw in So.Cal. is relativity new cars and bikes with untouched components and bolts just completely corroded together ... Must be the year-round 99% humidity !!! And I'm sure you see the " My uncle Buck and his Friend fixed it , but it still don't work ..." (at that point my labor rate usually doubles ).

The statement above clearly states to tighten the DRAIN PLUG to 16ft.lbs ... It just says to tighten the cover bolts in a crisscross pattern , with no torque spec given ...
-
Somewhere in the dark recesses of my memory I think i saw that all the air cooled forward kick fantic flywheel covers share the same bolt pattern , but the bolt lengths are different , and the depth of the cover to clear different flywheels . And I thought somebody was making reproduction side cases ... maybe Lee ???
Glenn
-
:agreed: Your going way to tight , especially threading into the ali case ! Check your specs again !!!!
-
I wore one when riding enduros and desert racing , and always used to use one on my 3wheeler at Glamis ...
But I've never felt the need for that much support riding riding trials ..., but I am getting a little older !

DITTO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Could be quite the interesting bike with a little effort ...
I didn't know any such beast existed ...!
-
I don't think you can predict how many titles Bou will get . With his talent I believe he'll get as many as he wants .

Well to add to the mix ... In my trusty old Fantic 240 (and the ty80 , fantic 50 and my chainsaw and weedeater...) all use the same premix . Amsoil Dominator full synthetic and ave gas mixed at 70 :1.And I mix it in 5 gallon quantities and rinse the ratio-rite with fuel to get all the oil , so mixing a larger quantitie helps with the accuracy of the mix ... And I have had no fuel or lubrication issues since switching to this about 6 years ago . Everything starts and runs as designed (or better) every time ... And the long storage times my fuel see's sometimes , more than makes up for the price of the aviation fuel ... (110 octane to 30,000ft. ,whatever grade that is ?!) I've not had any fuel go bad and I've had some that didn't get used for over a year ..,
So I'll stick with it
