Contact these folks (great references , I've heard ) http://www.westcountrywindings.co.uk/ I believe they can sort out your issues , And I'm not gonna go near the whole set up on a lathe thing ... To many variables to even consider ... And when you get your bits back , set it up with a new kill switch and all new wires , inc. plug lead and boot . If it's kicking back you've got the timing way to advanced I think .? Glenn

Use your impact to disassemble components that need that much torque , the air rachet for smaller things , and remember that with the speed air tools can spin , nuts and bolts can seize when coming off too , and pull threads from the heat produced . I've been at it for well over 35 years annd beleive me , Impacts have their place , but most motorcycle work I do is done with T handles & 1/4 inch drive stuff ... With time you will develop a feel for air tools , but your stronger than just about any impact gun . And I've got a couple of the best/strongest ones made ... Glenn

Just washed ,lubed and tightened the spokes on the trusty 240 and got to thinking... Should I get a new Beta 300 ss and keep the 240 for her value or sell her off ... And yet I don't know if I want a modern bike or not ......... Glenn

Sucking air after the carb ... Get it running again and spray some carb cleaner around the intake hose and the mainifold . if the tone changes , youve found your leak . Can also suck air at the big end seals , but thats pretty rare ... Glenn

I knew I forgot something ....

Try loosening your axle nut and the pinch bolts on the axle along with the triple clamp pinch bolts and cycle the forks gently to line every thing up . And make sure your spacers are in correctly on the axle , the hub should fit with minimal clearance to the forks so you don't bind everything up when you tighten the axle. Good luck Glenn
