I've never got to ride the six days , and I'm sure It'll kill a chain and sprocket set , But if time permits I also lube my chain every loop at a event ... Gee back in the day my desert racing buddies couldn't believe I'd get a whole season out of a set either , And I have ridden a few Real trials events , Don't get to compete as much as I would like , But I do take care of my equipment ...
-
OK here goes !
1 ; check lining thickness , the new ebc 's i've got out in the shop are just a hair under 4.5 mm ...
2 ; Check the length of the anchor strut , it should be about 8 inches bolt hole center to center ...
3 ; Length of brake arm is just under 4 inches overall ...
If all of the above is correct , let me know and we'll measure the axle to cable mounting lug to make sure the bodger didn't change the slider ...
Glenn
And Doug ! you still can't solder !?!?!?

With a little patience and a soft mallet , The Classic Trial bushing/spindle kit DOES NOT need to be reamed if pressed into the swingarm correctly ! Chris went thru the effort with his superb bushing kit to have the bushings made so the installed dimensions are Correct !
Fantic should've done them this way from the start ! 20 + years Later the unserviceable swingarm pivot is IMHO the only major design flaw in the trusty old girls ... And with fresh seals and a shot of grease once in awhile , classic trials set up should last indefinitely ... IT WORKS !

I may be kinda anal about chain maintenance ( had a loose chain cost a win in a jr. enduro when I was about 10 ...!!!) But I buy a cheap length of bulk no-name chain , install it on new sprockets , And keep it lubricated with a good chain lube , Bel ray or whatever ...
I'll clean excess grunge off it when I wash the bike , and apply more chain lube before I put it away . But chains and sprockets last me for 4 or 5 years ....... But some may say I lubricate my chain to a excess ... Not real fond of high dollar chains for dirt/trials bikes , but a street bike is another matter altogether

Nice bike ! And you got the camera angle perfect in that photo , it gives the impression that you've got one of the special bikes that will stand up on it's own ! I can't even see the shadow of the kickstand !!

Yep ... Joe said I can come up and let Tyler practice anytime ... Now I hear about almost nothing else from Tyler .!
But he's got a little more work to do before I take him into the woods and cut him loose .

Next time I see you , You'll have to take my Fantic for a Good ride ... And if you get a chance ride Bob's Majesty , I didn't at our last event , but the modern youngsters that did changed their minds about those "old twinshock bikes ..." must be something about the TRACTOR FACTOR in the GURU's engine ... And if you get the chance to see Bob's son ride his Honda , Your impression of the reflex will change forever !
Glenn
And our future historic Champ got his novogars on last weekend and started practicing ... Now to teach him how to shift etc. etc. etc.
And a few years ago I had two SWM's here to get running for local guy , I got them both going and I rode them abit ... Both were in sad shape , and didn't work correctly at all , but there is potential in them , pretty stout bikes , real simple too . But he came over and picked them up one sat. and moved on me ! Never really even said thank you ... You can see them here in my old shed ...
-
Not sure at all of what that is ... But you do need to own it and care for it properly !!!!!!!

IMHO ... There is no better way to learn how to ride than on a trials bike , The quirks and sensitivity of a trials motorcycle will give you a steep learning curve and make getting all the fundamentals of control and balance much easier in the long run . Once you can learn to be comfortable riding a trials bike , all other motorcycles become pretty easy ... With some common sense !

If only the GN had some sheetmetal and axles with steering bits ... That would be a serious retirement project !!!
Not sure if the honda is a early fraser or not , but looks well thought out , and like you said Well executed exhaust . layed out like the late model aftermarket 4t motocross stuff ! If only I had the time and $$$$

I'd have to agree with Steve , A fulltime commitment and backing like the top have and he could do it !
Glenn
-
Contact Adrian At Lewisports , They are selling them for trials bikes so I would presume they have been tested out ....!
Glenn
-
Gee Lee ! I've got a set of yours that came thru Steve Maybe three years ago ... All I did was spray them with some closer matching red , apply decals , clear with some polyurathane , and then applied some heat barrier tape to the backside ... And you can still pop them off and just about fold them in half ... Here in the states international emergancy red just about matches the OE. epoxy on the frames ... Close enough for a trials bike anyways ....
Glenn
But my originals are still usable too , some epoxy and popsicle sticks on the backside keep them together !

Contact Chris ... http://www.classictrial.co.uk/index.html , He can set you up with anything you need ...
