Without cutting the stock peg mount stubs off about all you can do is add some peg extensions to the stock pegd . B&J racing in TN. makes some .
http://www.bjracing.com/index.html Poke around there and you'll find them . But the best thing to do is to cut off the stock stubs and weld some modern mounts in your desired position , Then you can use whatever modern peg strikes your fancy . I used Trialscast pegs and mounts on my 240 and am very happy with the results. There is a post here somewhere showing them . New Pegs , Finaly !, Trialcast on a 240 . is the name of the post but I don't know how to link to it ...
I found it funny that the 1980 fantic 50 I have came with modern style peg mounts stock ... On a older bike than my 240 ...

Who wouldn't ? ....
But then we would have to add a 2009 and newer modern twinshock class !
What is the story on the bultaco ?
And quite the gripper there Martin ...

Lee , on the 240 barrel I've got that has the major porting changes to the known stock one I've got , most of the port work was done on the exhaust and transfers ... And just a bit on the intake side . But with Chris's OKO and the iridium plug , K&N airfilter and The new stator and coil , it will idle slow enough that you can almost count the rpm and still go wide open without any hesitation . All without a sharp edge anywhere in the powerband ... When I have it apart to get it replated for the forged piston I've got waiting to go in , I'll send you some scaled comparison photos .
But it may be awhile as I've not noticed a drop in compression yet ... Ask Classic what he does to the early 300's to stop the spark knock ...

Every once in a while it's nice to read some reality ...
Thanks , Made my day better !

I guess I must be Lucky then ... There is a small airport about 5 mins. from my house and I've ALWAYS used ave. fuel in my bikes ... Not only for the octane rating , but for the lead content and the storage properties it possesses . Sometimes due to my schedule fuel may sit all mixed up in a air tight fuel can for a year after a event ... And using ave. fuel I've never had any fuel gel or go bad like todays pump gas will . I've had lawnmower gas go south in a month , making extra work to get the mower running again . And even though The Classic Trial tank on my bike is made from the same stuff that underground fuel storage tanks are made of (I beleive ) I still empty the tank if I know I won't be riding for a extended period . But the best intentions aside , sometimes there is fuel left in it ... And I don't see any issue's developing with Chris's tanks as the fit and finish is superb , and the materials used are the best available now . I just need to locate a Sammy Miller seat/tank unit for the TY80 project to make it totally trick , Then I can deal with sealing a fiberglass tank ....

I just had to add a fitting soundtrack to the vid of my kid ....

I'm sure if you pursue it , you will find trials folks nearby .... (they tend to be in closets everywhere ...)

I beleive the 200 is a minereli motor and the 201 is a Fantic built motor ... But don't quote me on that !

Where are you ? The above mentioned peices shouldn't be any effort to find for a ty ...
Glenn
-
Hardly any use on the 350cc kit too !!!!
-
If he's big enough and you can find one , You can't much beat a good old TY80 ... Easy to shift and about indestructible !

Wait a minute !!!! I was told nipple rings were mandatory !!! (if you've had a 25+ year hiatus from our sport ...)

TOTAL hat's off to our team !!!! They were there and we weren't !!! Nuf said (I think)

All of us that own old fantics have been thru this dilemma at one time or another ... Get your source coil rewound and sealed with modern epoxy and move on , And while your there replace all the ign. wiring with high quality wire and soldered w/heatshrink joints and connectors ... Testing the components with a ohm meter will basicly tell you very little, most test fine when cold ! Technology has gotten a little better in the last 20+ years with respect to the way the coils are wound and sealed . And make sure the side cover is sealed up tite ... with the correct vent pipe . A late model coil is also a wise investment too.
Trust me , beside the unservicable swingarm pivots , the stock weak ign. IS the only downfall of the mighty Fantics ... I've got three spare rewound stator plates , but I've never touched it after I rewired and installed the first one , I went on a binge a few years ago and bought all I could find ... They are scarce here in the states , but you folks have people that rewind them , I couldn't locate any here stateside .
Best of luck with your bike , It's more than worth the effort !

AWW ... Come on doug ... I sold my 79 CJ7 w/ 5.0HO /nv4500 /atlas & ox lockers rust free so.cal life for about .25 on the dollar a few years ago ... Ya gotta do what Ya gotta do , sometimes ... (and I miss it ... )

What model Fantic ? Sounds like ign....

HTR ;
Glad to see you got out to ride ! And A big thanks Again for that puller you sent me , Works on both the fantic 50 and the Cranks on my Fantic bicycle !!!!

Renthal used to make a "mini " trials bar just for the ty80 , Don't know if they still do ... Supply and demand you know ...!
Glenn

But then again I use ave. gas mixed @ 75to1 with amsoil synthetic in all our bikes . Mainly because you can store it almost indefinitely and the 120 octane rating to 30k feet ... And there is NO ethanol or any other junk in it !
Glenn

And Lewisports is selling them now , so I would think they 've tried them on trials bikes ... !!!! And a email I sent to the Co. asking a few ?s was returned with a very positive note on their use in low pressure applications ...
Glenn
-
First I've ever heard of it , But seems to be quite a clever idea for us tube type tire folks . Could be used front and rear . The installation video let's you see how it actually works . I would contact them and see what their veiws are on running it in the low pressure condition we all use ...

Oh !!! If you look again there are some good sized logs , and a pile of cinder blocks . And this is south carolina near the coast . whenever it rains I already have a lake in my meager yard ... MUD we've got .... And yes the grass back there needs to be cut !

Well It FINALLY !!! got ridden !!!
After moving all the bikes out of the shop yesterday to clean up the fantics and clean the shop so some bike work could be done , I spent some quality time with my youngest son making his never ending bike project rideable ... A few choice words and some elbow grease later I rode it for the first time ... It steers quite well , stops and accelerates as a trials bike should . (actually better than the fantic 50 ...) but as you can see in the vid , his legs have to grow little before he can really use it ! Bob @ B&J RACING already has the virgin top end I found , to work his porting magic on , So next year I'll have 2 riding biddies to take to twinshock events with me !

Lee , Why do you ask ? I've been running mine in 90'f + weather and never has it missed a beat due to heat , she always starts great no matter what temp ...
