Yeah your right ... The TONS of enriched cake plutonium that were removed discreetly couldn't have been for any ill intent ...
-
All I can add ... Let's see if Obama can produce a REAL registered Birth certificate before jan ....
-
Well ups just got here ! so I've gotta go make some shock bushings out of some old jeep urethane leaf spring bushings ,for the 12.5 inch old telesco's (from a Bultaco !!!) that are going on the ty80 for now ... Till it gets test riden and I get some falcons made ...( if the boys earn them !)
Glenn
-
Not being knowledgable of the different bultaco models , (I know they made the renowned sherpa , but telling one from another is beyond me ! )
But the historic class does include the the 5 speed spanish bikes ... wherever they came into play ...
Wasn't it just so much easier in the 70's when I don't remember bike classes so much , just the rider class ! But the bikes of the 80's and forward have improved so much they need to be separated ...
-
ITSA Classes ;
1 Modern twinshock =1980 & newer aircooled , drum braked , twinshocks ....
2 historic = 1973 -79 Twinshocks
3 pre-historic = 72 and earlier
4 Mono support
Novice , intermediate and expert for all bike classes , Simple NO-STOP rules ...
And always more than enough bike class and rider class appropriate sections !
IT just don't get much better than this , these days , imho ....
Glenn
And PS. , yes sometimes at the ranch there are spots on the loop itself that you need your raceface on and your eyes wide open ... (the creek sometimes by the 3rd loop can be real fun ...!) But all in all , We are !! Trials riders , For Trials riders . And Not everybody wins ...
Nuff said ... maybe

What Younguns !!!!... I'm no spring chicken !

At any one of the several ITSA events I've traveled to , No matter what class your riding , You best get off your bike and walk every section . Some of them you can just eyeball 2nd or 3rd loop , others you best walk every time ... And I have competed in ahrma/ITSA 2day events and the lines are always appropriate for the given class , We don't have rigid bikes riding the modern trinshock lines...
And riding with Bob ,Hockeyboy , PeeWee and the rest or just watching them work the great old bikes we love is ALWAYS worth the trip.
And yes it's pretty rare at ITSA events to see more than a few single digit scores ! It's supposed to be a challenge !!! I've also never seen a
Dangerous section either , no spotters required ... So maybe it's just a state of mind !
Can't we all just have fun on two wheels ?
Glenn
And PS. From what I know of and heard about Mr. Fracey , if he rode one , he'd think he'd time warped back to THE DAYS !!!
-
Cool , Thanks
Now to find a tlm to restore so I can have a "modern" bike ....
Glenn
-
" I see it like this. Restore a painting for thousands and hang it on the wall......
restore a trials bike and throw it at 3 feet of rocks on sundays
nuff said. "
Lee , I couldn't of said it better !!!!

And I forgot to add , that with whatever sprocket combo in use at the time , I always start with as short a chain as will fit with proper chain tension , If you start out on the snug side , your just promoting chain stretch and sprocket wear . And I definitely agree about the aftermarket adjusters , The Trialcast snails I got for my 240 just flat out fit/work much better than the stock fantic pieces . And you modern guys have a much greater selection of adjusters than I did ...
Glenn

-
I've never seen the point of a 1/2 link ... I mean really what difference is what maybe a 1/8 to 1/4 inch in wheelbase gonna make in the big picture ? I've ALWAYS just replaced chains and sprockets as complete sets and maybe lubed them excessively , but when 3/4 of the available adjustment is gone you truly need new one's anyways ... And like Lee hinted to above , a broken chain can get really expensive ! just cheap worry free insurance on my part ...
Glenn
-
Thanks ... And if 24.000 were made then there still must be a few still lurking about almost unused ... I think we need a world wide dusty garage/shed hunt ... I mean really , I've only got 2 complete ones !!!
Thanks for the info ...
Glenn

Just a question that came to mind while sitting here bored ...
In the production run of the exalted 240 pro , Just how many were built ?
Or should I contact fantic and ask them ?
Just curious ...
Glenn

Hi all , I've just obtained a set of 12.5 inch eye to eye long telesco shocks from a forward mount sherpa ... I got them to go on my boys TY80 big wheel project as the dimensions are perfect ...
But they are not in hand yet , and the seller said the seals leak abit ... So before I get a set of falcons built for this experiment , does anybody know if seals are available for these old shocks ? Or do I disassemble them , measure the seals and pray I can duplicate them ...!
Thanks , Glenn
-
That was very interesting for me to watch ... Having been away from trials since 74 or so ,and not getting back into it till 05' when I found my current mistress , I take it this is right about the point when the riding styles started to change drastically into what we have today ! It's cool to see some of the evolution on film . But at my age and situation I'll stick to my trusty old school Fantic and our good old tried and true no-stop rules ! And like senoir copy , at that point in time I was rocketing a 400 mono across the desert in one of , if not the last oficial Barstow to Vegas desert races ... And that was fun too !
Glenn
If only the big 4 Jap bike makers had kept promoting trials here ... The world may have been a different place ! (at least my world ...)
-
I've got Geoff Aron's Fat bars on my 83 240 pro , and I used Tag adapter clamps . Quite comfy and strong . I wanted the S-3 adjustable adapter clamps , but Finding them for 7/8 bar replacement has proved a problem . I think they only make their adapters for flat-top triple clamps now ...
Glenn
-
It took me a minute ... ya know , not the sharpest tool in the shed and all ...
Thanks for that though !!!
Glenn
-
" UUUMMM dare I say starter fluid and a lighter????? to get the tubeless rear back on. "
I've done that in the desert on my old CJ7 w/ 36x12.50 tires , but I had onboard air to finish the task too ...
NOT for the inexperienced or faint of heart , Can be disastrous !!!! And I think a trials tire would be harder than a big ole' jeep wheel )!

The Great Debate ...
As the ty80 frame is nearing time for paint , I have one more decision to make . Do I weld on a Kickstand or do I make the bike dependent on tree's ? And remember I'm dealing with kids just starting to ride trials ... And if it's possible to do a poll could someone set one up for me on this question ?
Thanks , Glenn
-
Oh I plan to ... It's supposed to be made of some type of unobtainium ... And I paid almost 4k out of pocket so far ! So I better get to keep it !
Glenn
-
And I for one think the trialscross idea is NUTS !!! I've been to one and although unbelievable to watch , what does it truly have to do with trials riding ? Are you out to make our sport a Xgame at the top level ?
Just my humble opinion ...
Glenn
-
Hey Bruce ! Good to see you on here . All kinds of interesting topics arise ... I'll see you again at the next event I get to , after the bolt comes out of my shoulder !
Take Care ,
Glenn
