    Classic Trials

hello all as or dose anybody have any info on classic trials the shop who dose mods on mostley fantics? i was thinking of sending my bike to him to have some mods done like the exhaust and airbox. and carb. but ive heard a few bad reports dont want to part with my money if its not going to be right. he wanted nearly £500 but i can get the exhaust done for £50 and stick a mikuni carb on for less than half of that. and the airbox is fine orignal 1 in 100% good condtion any info would be good cheers.
  2. hi woody thanks for the info. i know what you mean about the airscrew on the mikuni. ive got what looks like a very good bing on my 340 ive just put new slide and needel and needel jet in seems to be abit beter but the bodys also is abit worn so im thinkin to move to a oko or mikuni. the mortor as been rebuilt before i got it im thinking about geting the exhaust repacked do you know anybody who dose it? i dont have cuting gear are a welder. cheers bondy.
  3. hi woody are the oko carbs beter than the mikuni? i dont know witch 1 to buy
  4. hi mr hewson ive just fited a mikuni to of my bults but the 199B as a bing on it ive just got new slide and jets but im thinking of a oko carb i may be having a biger airbox and the exhaust done as im keeping it know so should be alot beter.
  5. yes as said above the clutch drain plug is in the center. my 199B as the drain plug on the case its self witch is beter its just an older case. the gear box drain plug are easy stript if you over tighten just make sure its clean and use a new copper or fibre washer and just hand tighten dosant need to be really tight same with all the cases i have the toruqe setings for the cases so i never over tighten them. its alot of work to get them sorted if you do i had 1 done had to have it helicoled but if you do have that done beter to have them all done. so dont panic just take your time its easy. altho it was a bad design puting the drain plug on the side would off been beter of leaving it under the engin.
  6. i mate it was me what was asking about the mikuni on a 199B. the jets are not that much few pound each put motocarb in your seach engin he as the jets and he is prity cheap. im leaving the bing on mine and puting a new slde and needel and new jets in it. before i buy anything esle. the bike is runing good but could do with some fine tuning. i like the 199A beter wish i hadnt sold it know i have spare motor for 199A but needs building. i ham looking for another 199A but id be after a deal with my 199B my 198A id nearly finished just took the wheels 2 be respoked.

    M91 Clutch

these nuts should be tight but some 1 as gone OTT with the sounds of it. aslong as you have a star washer on it shouldnt work loose aslong as its tight but not to much over the top i was riding a 199A for a while before i found out there was no lock wire throw the weight nut so if it had come loose would have done alot of damage. you can grt the shock feez from B&Q or halfords dose work ive had a few stubon nut and bols in the passed and ive always used this so hope it works for you the only other thing i can think of is heating it up but i dont like doing that if i can help it.
  12. hi if you can get the shaft out i would have it strightend. if not then cut it off depends on how fare its bent?

    M91 Clutch

um ive never had any troubel geting the nut off try some shock freez then use a good socket and give it a wack should do the trick. the primarry chain shouldnt lift up more than half a link off the clutch basket with the tensoner on. if its more than half a link it needs replaceing. they do stretch over a long time. hope this helps

  17. well said woody i agree ive had the electronic ignition on 1 of my sherpas and they dont make the bike any difrant. on the other hand they are good like woody says it takes the hassal of the points. witch is the way im going with my other bikes.
  18. hi yes i had same problem with a 199A i had the shocks went on easy but it was hard to line the wheel.and it was a new wheel the cams should be the same on both sides. aslong as the wheel dosant rub on anything like the exhaust and swing arm. and the chain is inline you should be ok it may be that you just havant set the cams or may be as said above the swing arm may be bent.
