hi guys im going to be replacing my 198bs air box for a new 1 i havant looked at it yet could anybody tell me is there any spacers between the box and frame?

my 199b is a 1983 model and has matching frame and engin numbers. my 198b is a 1981 model also as the same numbers but dose have 3 numbers stamp near the gear filler cap.dose anybody know what they would be there for?

hi mate wellcome to the site. i would say yes it would affect the running off the motor and the jets. you would probley have to ajust the carb. ive never come across this before but im sure there will be guys on hear to tell you more. i have a new air box on my 199A you would be beter buying a new one. ive just bought a new box for my 199b the old 1 is in not to bad condtion but not sure if it will fit a 199A because its bigger.

henry all my bikes are sorted they all run spot on. i was just gathring info so if i ever have to do it i know were to start. if i can do it then id run them on points all the time as they should be. but just keep a eletrice iginiton in my tool bag for a back up

hi mate ive tryed the 1 bltaco uk sell thats good. i think you will find it hard to find 1 has good as pj1 that was the best. but there may be 1 out there as good i havant found it yet. really depends on how fussy you are about the finish look. i myself do like the factory look but its hard to find. b&q stuffs ok but looks dull. your better off buying a few diffrant ones and trying them. to see wich you like. its each to there own really. cheers bondy.

hi just to let you all know it was the magneto that was the problem i was lucky i had a spare magneto tryed it whent on no problem. turns out the inside off some magnetos have a steaper angal than others so that was the problem.

hi i had a electronic ignition from bultaco uk with no issues easy to fix can only go on 1 way the only thing you will you dont get a big spark this is nothing to worry about stats up and runs great i will be buying anougther 1 hope this helps.

hello Graham cheers im gonner get some fuel today and try it. i will check the chock but i know when i get it started the chock dose work as it idels faster.and then when i takr it off it dies down to normal idel. so ill check the filter first cheers bondy.

hi all ive had problems stating the 199A ive just restored. its got a new bing carb wich as all the corect jets in it the float is level with the face off the carb. i read a thread with the same problem they was told to put the bike on its side so i tryed it and it dose work. but there must be a better way to sort this out once its started its sound starts no problem. theres a brand new airfilter in its been in quit a while but the bike hasnt been used since rebuild only been run round the garden could that be the problem?

to be honest i havant had the bike long its runing spot on just needed a littel tidying up nothing major the last owner did a top job on rebuilding it am verry pleased with it. the airbox is in pritty good shape really its just me being fussy. i put a new tank on it as the 1 that came with the bike had been painted and bubbeld. oh and i put new RH rear brake pedel on it. already for some fun

hi Graham thanks for the info ive looked at both the 199b and the 198b today they both look the same. i think the amal carb on the 198b is abit bigger than the bing on the 199b so the rubber boot has to be streched on the filter. as for the spacers i havant looked yet. the box as been repaird but i noticed a split in the top probely could be fixed but ive got a new airbox to go on, sopose i could plastic weld it but i looked at the price off the plastic welders cheaper to buy a new one, unless i look for a place that dose platic weldind, cheers bondy.

hi guys can anybody tell me if the airbox on a 198b has any spacers that go inbetween the box and filter?

hi my 199B has gold did wheels think there off an honda the rear brake drum is on the RH side its has all the mods done when i got it so not sure but i know the brakes are wicked. anybody any idea what honda wheels fit the later bults?

the piston i got was for a pursang came ready to fit my 199A then i had the barrel rebored to fit the piston.

you can get them they have to be ordered from spain. i got 1 frew weeks ago for my 199A i was lucky dave had 1 in stock. cheers bondy

hi i replaced my damper springs and bushes on my 199A i got mine from bultaco uk so be worth giving dave or pete a ring cheers bondy.

hello ive had the same problem with my 199A but its got a new carb and all the jets are the corect size ive read 1 off the above threads about puting the bike on its side and it works but i think my problem is as ive only just finished it and dont ride it much ive been running the carb out so when i com to try it it takes a while to get the fuel throw i check the carb today looks all ok anougther thing i did notce the carb was tilted to the left slightley it is know been put stright. i will try it tomorrow.

yes i have the same problem with the braks nearly whent throw the fence todaday but that may be my riding ummm.

it says theres less build up of carbon and less smoke so cant be so bad

hi all ive just got anougther bultaco the last owner ran it on putoline 2 stroke oil blue in color. and i would like to keep useing the same oil ive had alook on the net. and theres loads off putoline 2 strocke oil the 1 called mx9 fully synthectice wich is blue in color i know it dosant matter what the color is but would like the same oil anybody use the stuff?
