hi ive just put a new primary chain on whats the best wire to use for the wight nut? ive got thin locking wire for the clutch. but thats to thin. the wire i took off was thicker ive got some garden wire witch is gavanisd i tryd it today but it snap when i was twistin itny addvice would be greatfull

hi again does the spring need to be coiled up when the kick start is turnd back? makes sens so when you let go it returns? do i put the pin in the shaft when its in normal positaon? this ive done and wind it fully back then hookt the spring on the bolt but theres not enough tenson so im going to try and wind it round with a good pare of pliers and a spring puller think this where it gets hard and ill need anougher person to help me

hi i cant post pic. the only thing i can do is exsplane hear we go first of all i put the spring over the shaft. and put the stright bit of the spring in the shaft no problems by the way the kick start shaft is in its normal position at this stage. the hook end of the spring is resting on the casing at this stage. then i wind the kick start back as fare as it wil go then i hook the otther end of the spring on the threaded bolt. and put the nut on. dosent return dosnt seem to be anough tenstion on the spring. must be doing somthing wrong help please. ive lookt at my other bike and when you kick it over it seems to coil up alot more

hi again the spring is brand new of bultaco uk. ive put the shaft forward in its normal place then i have slide the spring on the shaft.and put stright bit of the spring throw shaft why the other end of the spring is resting on the engin ive pulled the kick start as fare back as it will go then hookt spring on threaded bit is this the way you do it?

ok thanks for the addvice ive got the motor in the frame.and i do have a holding tool the nunt is not to bad just wanted to no if i could tighten it up with a inpackt driver saves me buying one. ive just ordderd a new primary chain as my old one is stretch i have a spare one tryed that the other day its tighter but stiil got some play in it dont want to take the chance off puting it all back together then having the same problem

hi is it ok to use a inpackt driver to tighten the crank nut on the clutch side on my 199A? the nut is only abit worn but dont want to risk it with just a normal socket. ive ask bultaco uk they do a nut but they dont do them like the one thats on mine with the hole throw it for the locking wire

can i ask you witch is the best way to put the kick start return spring on? ive tryed sliding the sping on the shaft. and then ive put the stright bit in the middel of spring throw the hole. and pushed the kick start as fare back as it gose then with my spring puller put the hook on the nut but when i let go of the kick start i dosant go back i know it shouldnt be this easy to put the spring on so must be doing somthing wrong? this is how i think it should be done. wind kick start fully back get sombody to hold it or tie it back then with the stight bit out of the shaft wind it on with long pliers?

hi thanks. i unblockt the hole but my be i didnt do it proper ill look again i just put a thin nail throw it. whats the bests way to clean it out? i put 600mm of oil in but bultaco uk said it should be 500mm? so i did and its not comming out as much. ive hopfully sorted the ping noise that was cumming from the clutch case. the primary chain was catching the weight the chain seemed to be slack so i had a spare one. seems to be tighter so ill put that back together. apart from that the bike runs great.

hi guys does anybody know where i can get the front sprocket seal for my 199A? ive tryed the ones bultaco uk sell and its still leaking. any ideas where to get the seal with the metal clad round the ruber? i found one in a tin of engin parts i have ive put it in seems to be a much tighter fit than the all ruber ones wont know till ive put the clutch back on and start her up to see if shes leaking. ive turned the back weel round now before oil used to drip out dosant seem to be doing it with the metel seal so any help would be great

hi all should there be any movment from side to side on the clutch basket? its on a 199A

hi ive took the clutch basket and the weight off today it was a bit fiddely but came off easy seals look ok. ive put a spare primery chain on i had and a spare tenstioner. it all whent back together ok the weight is fully on the chain seems to be ok theres dosant seem to be has much play in it. the other thing ive notice is theres slight play in the clutch basket is this normal? ive tightend the nut up tight. may be the bearing in the clutch basket? if so or they easy to remove.and replace? theres a big cir clip at the back do they tap out easy? once ive sorted this out. its just the slight oil leak on the final end drive shaft on the front sprocket ive put new one in but still leaks. first of i didnt take the small metel clad that was left in there. so i took it out. and put new seal in flush but looking at my other bult it seems to be in a bit more and that donsnt leak. theres a reeses that it goses in any ideas? apart from that the bike runs great kicks up first time ticks over ok pulls like a train ive not been out and trials it but been up and down the street gears or fine ive spent alot of money on her just want to sort these to littel problems i was gonner sell it but ive spent way to much money

hi yes new clutch has been fitted is it worth me buying a new chain? how do i fit the chain dose it just go over the to spockets? theres no split link? is that why they clutch basket.and weight have to go on at the same time? allso is it worth changing any seals why ive got this off?

hi i can anybody help i have a noise comming from the primary clutch case. so ive had alook.and the primary drive chain is slack there is a tensioner on witch is ok looks like the chain has been catching the weight hence the noise. anybody know how i change the chain? is this a hard job to do?

hi when fitting pistin rings to my 199A do they face upwards with the groov in them? allso the thiner off the to goses on the bottom is this right? daft question but im just making sure i know about the arrow on the piston it faces foward. and the rings close on the notices. one other thing is the bike had loads of compretion and ran sweet so will it be ok to put the old rings and top end bearing all back together witch all look good?

hi all im thinking off having my rear wheell respock its got a buckel rim looks ok. and the chrom in the hub looks ok is it worth just having it relined as im having spocks done? allso would it be addviced to have new rim more money i know but will the rim be ok with the new stinles steel spocks?

hi again do you mean have them aqua blasted instead of powder coating? oh they or alloy what dose this do to them? ive just finished one bultaco restor have one or to small issues with that one. but the one im doing now is part restoring the bike was runing fine when i stript it ive had the barrol. and head sand blasted. and ive sprayd them just had the barrol heli coiled new leavers .and grips new kill button. and new front spoket.and chain. new cabels all round in blue. as my other bult is all blue thought id have a change with this one so i got new white mudgards with blue fram. oh and new tank. and seat as you can see ive gone crazy

im i beter pluging the screw holes?

hi guys im thinking off having my fork sliders powder coated in blue id like to know is im allso putting new seals in would i be beter fiting them before i have then painted or do them affter the paint job?

hi i didnt change the fly wheel weight. the only thing i did chang was the old metel clutch plats for new fiber ones. the bike was runing ok when i firt got it a year ago. im hoping its nothing major just somthing simpel fingers crossed. ill have to take the clutch case off to have a good look. bultaco uk said it could just be the clutch plats its probely only had an hours run since i finished the rebuild. and allso it dosent make the noise when i pull the clutch in

keith thanks for the offer but i just need some addvice the bike is runing fine now since i fited a new makuni carb im going to take the clutch cover off. and check dont think its major i hope thanks again keith try .and be abit kinder next time please ive done a good job i think off restoring my sherpa affter all it was my first one cheers chris
