  1. There's already too many manufacturers in the small trials bike market, going to be hard for another newcomer.Might help if it were lighter and were available in 250 and 300 cc.
  2. The Keihin should should sharpen it up over the Mikuni,is the exhaust clear and the ignition timing right?
  3. They never were the most powerful 250,the 270 had a lot more go.Is yours all good engine wise or does it need a freshen up?Do you know anyone with a similar bike you could compare yours to,could be you're expecting it to be something it's not
  4. It's seized the piston to the bore, bad luck. Will need a new piston and the cylinder replating, not sure on costs.TRS importer isn't a huge distance from you,I'd call them. What oil mixture and oil do you use?Its a good idea to use a lanyard kill switch, stops this happening
  5. GRO is my favourite, but others may prefer different brands.
  6. Is the gearbox oil level dropping? If its burning gear oil it really stinks.Does it perform ok apart from the smoke,I wouldn't be in a rush to strip it yet without checking the carb and premix ratio
  7. You've made a terrific job of this.Youve even got it to start when hot, which most didn't,well done
  8. There were 2 at the Len Hutty memorial trial in Nov,ridden by Dan Clark and his mate.Looked as capable as any other bike, maybe flattered by the riders skills but plenty adequate for a lot of riders.Still think I'd chose a year old model of the established brands though.Durabilty and resale value are unknown
  9. Clutch plate pack needs to be 9.75-9.85 mm thick.Clutch lever needs a little free play to allow master cylinder piston to return completely.400 mil of a good light gear oil in the box is needed,ATF works but can swell the clutch plates. The hydraulics need mineral oil not brake fluid, the wrong fluid ruins the seals. When these clutches are right they're excellent
  10. As I remember the 1982 models ran fine, but the later ones knocked just like yours does when hot.Sorry I can't remember why or what the cure was.Was the compression higher on the later ones perhaps?
  11. Forma are good, but not waterproof but neither are any of the others when in streams a lot.Hebo offer more protection but feel through the footrests isn't as good .I have both brands and wear the Hebos when it's really wet and muddy, they offer more protection when wet.Id buy either again
  12. Used them for last18 months with no problems but I don't throw it up steps that big.Defineitlythe best mud tyre
  13. Annoying, some of the crap stuff that's out there.Means doing the job twice through no fault of your own
  14. Don't think I would have fitted them .Id change them for the correct ones in case they start leaking at an event and contaminate the brake pads as well.Id get the new seals from a different source too
  15. You're right, hopefully this deal will be the one that lifts him to the top of trial2 and contention for the BTC crown, fingers crossed
  16. Certainly more compact, harder to fill and check coolant level?Harder and more time consuming to make an old style filler neck and attach it to the rad than the present method. The filler plug is only a bolt, and the relief valves are under £5.2 alloy bosses drilled and tapped, tig welded to rad,job done
  17. The pressure relief valves don't always work, not as good as a proper radiator cap,but presumably cheaper.
  18. The soap turns black when you've got the lever to the right temperature to bend it.I do mine on the gas rings on the kitchen oven when the Mrs is out
  19. Rub soap on them before you heat them, when it goes black it's hot enough ,you will probably have to do it in stages or they will break
  20. 50/50 mix of ATF and cellulose thinners works well

    Riding a 4RT

Could you buy one from the UK,much cheaper.Dont know what the import legislation allows, but worth looking into
  22. How close are you to the importer, they're very helpful
