We've all been there, I wold recommend that you buy some tools such as a socket set, sooner rather than later and just get into things, nothing more satisfying than fixing a problem yourself!
-
You have just confirmed what I said, in your first reply to the original poster you indicated that the "resale" value was 2100 pounds when the auction had not even ended, thus giving an entirely false idea to a potential purchaser as ultimately that was not its "resale" value.
If you had waited until the auction had ended then yes, that would have been its "resale" value at that time, but resale value at a particular moment is not equal to actual value. As someone else pointed out, bikes from a dealer are always higher, does this mean that dealers are ripping everyone off?
I don't want to get into a big thing here dabster but sometimes I think you post just to see how big a reaction you can cause. One of the big issues often debated on here is the viability of manufacturers, you do no one any favours by bad mouthing or devaluing products.
-
So based on your previous analogy of "worth" then this 2013 example must be "worth" 1550 quid as that is what the bidding is currently at:

Yes but you pointed at it as an example when the price wa $2100. If there was only one bid at the entry $1500 mark would you have still said that is what it's worth? Because everyone knows it has higher value than that. In this case I think it went cheap at $2300 but that's exactly what you get with an auction, it is not a true representation of actual value.

This is not a representative ad as no reserve was stated

Buy some 3m dynoc (?) on a roll and make your own for way less than buying them. Stuff sticks like S on a blanket when heated, it's the stuff they wrap cars with

I dont have the new easy start on my bike, it wasn't added until the 2014 models and mine is a 2013.
I have enquired about getting one and have been told that they will retrofit, apparently this new system which is a combo capacitor/battery pack has cured the starting completely, I will be taking a look at a 2014 at the dealership in the near future and will see for sure.
Regardless of whether the part becomes available or not my 300 is still quite easy to start and I beleive moreso with the high-power 9v giving the charge.
That 300i on ebay is nice looking, looks a lot like mine, although the mapping switch is in a very strange position attached to the water pump. I also don't think it would have the new starter pack on it as they were not available to the best of my knowledge that early in 2013. My bike was new in June and didn't have it, although I don't know for sure, this could be the exception.
-
JSP, I don't know what battery assist you are using but one thing that definitely helped me was to use a high power battery, I use energizer lithium, costs a lot more than a standard 9v but definitely worth it in my opinion.
Of course the new capacitor/battery starter on the 2014 models has apparently fixed the issues fully and the part will retrofit when available

Only thing I did was to put a slow action throttle tube on it to calm the delivery down a little for me but otherwise I love it. I was concerned it would be too much bike for me but I soon got used to it. Lots of discussion and test rides with the dealer but once i was on it there was really no way i was leaving the dealership without it. also put some 10 mil bar risers on but that was just for my benefit as I also had them on my 2011
-
I think the bike specific forums are for the most part honest places to get answers, yes you are always going to get the " my bike is the best, nothing bad to say" crowd, but I find that you also get a lot of people on here willing to give you the bad as well as the good to try to help out others

I believe Xispa was a chinese Sherco copy so possibly they already do or did make one, however it was certainly not in the 2k price range.
I don't doubt that one day they may come up with something.
-
Depends on who you talk to, I had a 2011, one of the first that was perfect with absolutely no issues where others had all sorts of gearbox issues etc. I liked mine so much that I traded up for a 2013 factory R which has again so far been faultless.
There are well documented starting issue pages on this site that are worth a read so you have the full picture.

take the flywheel cover off and check the seal, air being sucked in can cause the high revving. Also check the carb to barrel boot for any cracking or leaks as this will also cause revs to rise

fatbars for lard arses like myself, no crossbrace means that your gut can go farther before it hits anything!

nice!.......beat that f**ker
-
I don't think there is a fix, it is down to how you engage the kickstart lever before you give it the big boot! when you first move the kickstart into kicking position it moves a gear out to engage with another gear thar rotates everything to tgurn the engine over, if these gears are not fully or correctly engaged I would guess that the snapping noise you are hearing is the gears slipping into their correct positions.
Any Sherco experts care to chime in?
-
kickstart gear not engaging fully/correctly?

I think there a difference in riding cheap bikes on the road or a dirt track in a developing country at a relatively sedate pace than hammering one off road. Yes they are ideal cheap transport for commuters but for them to develop a reliable rugged off road machine would increase the costs exponentially.
-
Everything suffers massive depreciation in the first couple of years, look at the loss on a new car the moment you drive it off the lot. Same for parts, remember when bumpers were actually metal and would take a knock, nowadays they are plastic which just cracks, and then look at the replacement cost, ridiculous for a chunk of molded plastic.
I don't see this fragility in trials bikes, just look at the purpose it is built for, riding over rocks will likely result in damage, that's the nature of the sport.
-
I don't think that using Chinese built bikes is a good example, you only have to look at the number of them broken or in need of some repair going cheap on kijiji. Yes they are low cost and mass produced but also notoriously unreliable.
Also, 900 bikes a year isn't that bad for a relatively new company in a niche market, how many 4rts were sold last year? More choice is better for the consumer, without these smaller companies you would be restricted to a choice of maybe 2 or 3 , what fun would that be?

Any resolution or update on this string?

Hey zippy, go-pro have some free editing software on their website that is pretty easy if you need some
-
I just installed one on my ossa using one of these: http://www.smarthome.com/31018/Orbit-67400-DripMaster-1-4-Barb-Elbow-Bag-of-20/p.aspx
Drill hole in cover, push barb fitting in, epoxy in place, attached a piece of hose up under the tank cover, seems to work okay, sealed the cover to keep moisture out

That certainly changes things, I was not aware of your location. Hopefully users of this forum will be able to offer up further advice, good luck!
