  1. typical, sounds like beancounters removing the one reason why the product even existed in the first place!
  2. The pin switch enables the mapping switch to work. You must already have the switch fitted on you bars, this is what controls the map selected, moving the pin won,t do anything, it only allows the dual mapping function to work. For te shock, a cut down key, although fiddly, is really the only way unless you start removing the exhaust etc for better access.......unless anyone has a better suggestion

    Ossa 2014

NIce to see the range expanding.....still a good looking bike!
  4. Not sure what you meqan by the "difference" but the pin placement is for the operation of the dual mapping switch. I also have a 300 with the mapping switch already fitted, whcih I assume you also do. On earlier bikes that did not come with the switch already fitted you had to modify the ECu pin placement so the mapping switch would work and switch between the 2 maps available.
  5. I ordered a wulfsport from the uk purely based on measuring my head and using their sizing guide and was very pleased with the fit when I received it, light and comfortable
  6. This was an excellent event! I am sorry that I was only able to participate on the Saturday due to a family commitment, but was very glad that I made the trip from the GTA. Big thanks to Mike for doing all the organizing, fantastic loop with some great sections! Thanks to Ron, the Land owner for use of his property. Thanks to Ron's wife (I think), pie maker extraordinaire! Thanks to Sandbagger and his wife for making us feel very welcome when we first arrived. And thanks to all the other MOTA riders I met throughout the day (Biff, Zippy) it is always nice to put a face to names! I look forward to running into you all at another event in the future.
  7. Could have just been a bearing that was on its way out over a period of time and finally let go when the wheel hit the tree and jarred the box.
  8. Lucky, it looks like a new set of aluminum ones have been installed
  9. Sandbagger - is this at the same location as 2 years ago? I seem to recall attending a similar trial and had a great time, but I don't think it was run (at least not at this location) last year.
  10. Put a ratchet strap around the bash plate and over the seat and tighten to bring the plate up, you should be able to get te bolts and nuts on , may be a little fiddly but easier than dropping the engine
  11. I would have thought that if the impeller was there originally then there would at least have been some evidence of plastic
  12. So there you go, both sides of the story. This was never about how good or bad the bike is, it was me expressing my opinion as to what I thought of my bike. As I have already stated in other strings, my 2011 model also had early starting issues that were corrected by a combo of the battery assist and me improving my initial crap starting technique. Once I had everything down it was all perfect, certainly a huge improvement for me over my 1997 mont 315' plus I got a good deal from the dealer. I have always stated that at least 20% of the reason why I bought an ossa was the dealer service and I cannot fault that. Parts for the mont had to be ordered from lewisport in California, about 3000 mies away, parts for the ossa are a 20 minute drive from my door and always in stock, yet another reason for me, and another reason why I did not hesitate to buy a new model. I also think the situation in Canada is different than the UK, the limited supply and availability of used bikes probably keeps the resale value higher.
  13. But that is exactly the point, Steveo asked for "my" impression of my new bike which is what I tried to provide, of course I think my bike is best!, why would I own one otherwise?
  14. Ha!.....sorry Dabster but you are absolutely incorrect! I did buy my new bike bike from the importer, as I did my first Tr280i, but that is as far as my connection to Borus goes. So for everyone else, just to correct Dabster, my view is unbiased (apart from being the bike owner and very pleased with it!)
  15. Sorry steveo, I just saw your reply. I currently ride the junior line in Canada, although first time out I won my class for the first time and only dropped 3 marks for the whole event. Could have been luck, I like to think my confidence was up on the new bike, it ran perfectly and just felt right on the day, so much so that I will likely move up to intermediate level. To sum up as follows: Power - plenty of it, a little fierce at times, may benefit from a slow tube but will try it as-is at least one more time Weight- bike felt nice and light and was easy to manouver Starting- no issues, battery pack fitted so was easy on the legs all day Overall fun factor- off the scale! ........and did I say it has a termignoni exhaust on it, apart from looking good it also sounds very nice! I. Should start a "what did you do to your ossa today" thread, every day would start the same..."looked in awe at it before firing her up"
  16. Order one from ebay or check out Walmart if you have them. Don't use a bike helmet, one bad spill and you will regret it. I paid about $65 Canadian dollars for my first open face helmet from Walmart, and about $80 for my wolf sport from ebay
  17. Definitely the woodruff key. The flywheel has slipped which has effectively buggered the timing.
  18. If its a 1990 it won't be a 315 as they did not make them that early. Not sure of the UK price but if mint possibly 800-1000 quid. Spares should be quite easy from Pidcocks or Sandifords, plus other sources. I used to ride a 1997 315 and it was a brilliant bike, if the price is right just buy it!

    2013 Ossa 280I

Started with a 2011 ossa, once mapped right it was a fantastic bike, so much so that I just upgraded to a new factory r 300i.....which is even better! I would like to think that the new bike was instrumental in my first victory in my class recently, certainly my confidence was up!
  20. I was also thinking the crack was particularly bad, I wonder if in addition to the weld a hole could be drilled and tapped through from the side and a support bolt inserted to assist the weld?
  21. I think I was also told once to remove everything electrical from the frame to avoid frying things when the welding is taking place, perhaps someone can confirm?
  22. drop the shock from frame and swing arm. They are a tight fit, even with the shock out I seem to remember having to twist it to get it past the carb and pull out towards the rear
  23. Just got a factory r 300i, first trial tomorrow, looking forward to seeing how it handles
