I agree with Mr Neutron that longer bolts cut shorter would be be best option in hindsight, but if not available I would ensure that at least 10mm of the 30mm bolts is catching in the threads, no less.

you just need to check how much thread is catching, the difference between them is only 5mm so providing the threads on the 30 are gripping enough it should be okay

The last 2 dates listed are the only ones that I would need to see to make my mind up. May to December is 8 months which is absolutely outright too long without an exceptionally fantastic reason (such as my shop was hit by an errant meteor etc. etc.), only then would a time delay such as this be even remotely acceptable to me....and I would have to be shown fragments of the meteor!

the ad states exactly what the bolt kit is for.... "All the bolts to replace originals on side engine casings including clutch covers, water pump housing, alternator cover and sprocket covers where applicable" from this I would assume head bolts are not included

socket is a torx type socket, buy a set of torx keys at your local hardware store

there is no oil filter on a 315..... anyway, another way to do this is to put the front bolts in first and then run a ratched strap under the rear of the sump and over the fraom (remove the rear guard/seat first) and then just ratched the strap down until the sump guard is back in place

I also agree that honest opinions are what makes this forum invaluable, however there are always 2 sides to everything, my OSSA is a 2011 model and touch wood have had no major issues whatsoever. Granted, initially it was a little difficult to start but mapping updates and dealer support with both the original ISS system, and the revised 9v version have made my ownership experience very satisfactory so far. I would imagine that the 9v system will be fitted directly from the factory in the future as standard as it should be. It has been a long time coming but I also think that the factory has at least done its part in following through with a solution for this issue.

does it only happen when the tank is installed? if not I wonder if the extra gasket has raised the head enough to be vibrating on the underside of the tank

I know the Canadian importer has the airfilter and wiring kits in-stock, not sure about the new mudguards though.

I absolutely agree. I started my daughter on an OSET when she was 6 and picked up an old TY80 just before her 8th birthday just to see how she would do with a gas bike and clutch. For sure it is heavy for her but she soon got used to the clutch and power (over the OSET i mean!) and loves to follow me around. This year has been her learning/getting used to it year but I firmly believe that next year when she is just that little bigger and stronger it will really come into its own and last her for at least another few years. As others have said, bullet proof, easy to maintain, and parts still seem easy to obtain from the bay even for me in Canada

I bought my daughter an OSET for exactly the same reasons regarding neighbours etc. and have to say it was a very worthwhile investment, particularly for just getting her into the whole standing up/twist throttle/slow and balanced mindset. From my experience my answers to your questions are as follows: 1: Reliability - never had an issue with the exception of when she dropped it on the throttle side and cracked the throttle housing, I had to order a new throttle assembly but it was no big deal - to combat this in future I cut the ends off the grips nd put bar end protectors in the ends of the bars (bike end protectors, not motorbike ones as they are too big) 2: Run time - it all depends on where you are riding/rider weight/hills etc. - when we are just practicing balancing or going through cones etc I can get at least 2 hours out of a set of batteries, throw in some hills though and the run time drops significantly. 3: Batteries will always loose capacity when being recharged and drained. Depending on how ofter you ride/recharge I would bank on buying a new set every 2 years or so. To extend my run time I have 2 sets of batteries and alternate them so I always have a charged set ready to go.

Yes they fit under trousers, I have a pair of MX style pants for cold weather riding, and also a pair of the spandex type pants, I have no problem with them fitting under either, they may look bulky but are actually quite a close fit.

Graham, that is an excellent injury, reminds me of a similar one I once had (although not quite as bad) which spurred me to seek a similar solution. To save $130 I would try anything. Have you investigated computer fan blades, you can get some large (5 or 6") computer fans that may have blades that would be useable
