That may be an ipad thing as I stay logged in all the time until I actually turnthe computer off.

Thats the theory behind the 9v system, it charges the system that would normally be done by the first few kicks so the engine fires after 1 or 2 kicks. Glad it seems better for you now JSP.
-
The rear wheel issue has me beat unless there is some dirt that has got in to make it a tight fit. I know they are a snug fit but I can't see it expanding that much
-
JSP, are you running the 9v through the box with the built in switch or do you have it wired through a kill switch type setup that you press during the kick process? My first 9v system was a little hit and miss like how you described but eventually I tracked it down to a p*ss poor wiring job. I redid the whole thing and now it works like a charm through a kill switch as per the instruction from Ossa Canada here: http://www.ossacanada.ca/Ossa%20TR280i%209V%20battery%20connection.pdf

Hi Deon, glad your LSS iw working fine, if yoiu need something else to do as a project you can make a much more compact version using AAA size batteries that appears to work just as well, I knowcked one up out of boredom one day and it worked flawlessly through a trial on Sunday.
My quesiton was more about the recharging of a 9v battery on the alternative 9v system, currently that system uses a standard 9v battery to aid starting and you just replace he battery when it goes flat (the battery lasts a really long time as it is only on during the start stroke nd then is taken out of the system by a switch and the capacitor takes over) so I was trying to determine if a rechargeable battery could be incorporated and recharged or if the presence of the capacitor would preventthis or cause some sort of issue
-
So I assume by now that most people who are experiencing starting issues either have the original LSS type starter pack installed, or have the 9v battery version which is smaller, simpler, and avoids potential flooding by only charging the electrics and not the fuel pump.
Just as a matter of interest, if you were to use a rechargeable 9v battery on the 9v system, and say, kept the circuit open when travelling between sections, would the system recharge the battery or would the combo capacitor and 9v battery in the sytem have a negative effect.
I know changing a standard 9v battery on this system is no big deal, my questions is more just a matter of interest as to whether it would recharge or not.
electrical wizards....over to you!

PM me your e-mail address and I can send you the info on Monday when I am back in my office if no one else sends it to you in the meantime

Combine the new air filter system with the new rear fender and it just keeps getting better.....take a look at the flexibility of the new fender at this link on YouTube, you'll never break another one again

Not every post Dabster, brand support is all I am doing!

Even the slime is OSSA green!....

Thats what I said, the best bike in the world!
-
amazing!....and quite right that it was done on the best bike in the world!
-
I am constantly impressed with the creative topic titles from members of trials central.......

So just for clarification, is this the 9v solution that was explained in the previous thread that works in conjuction with the capacitor that you only turn on to start and then switch off, or has someone devised some new trickery!
-
I am in the opposite direction like you, I had the long levers similar to yours in the pic on my new OSSA and switched them to shorties from Lewisport and I love them, I would say I have better control with the shorties so my advice would be opposite to Wobblenorbed....each to his own I guess!

Hi Sparky:
The slow action throttle works by having a smaller diameter cable track (where the cable connects to the tube) so the tube has to be turned farther to get the same cable pull. The fast action has a larger diameter which means the tube does not have to be turned as far to move the cable the same distance. I went the other way on my OSSA, replacing the black slow tube with the white fast one and I love the "seat of your pants" power delivery it gives.
If the diameters of the black tube and the metal one are the same then they are both slow action, personally I would fit the plastic black one, I once had a metal one that was banged on the end that made it difficult to operate as the tube was out of round.

Oh Millgrove........I would love to have sold it to you, I am in Milton, about 20 minutes away....bugger!
From my knowledge gained through this experience I believe the cylinder will drop straight in, your only issue may be with the head as I believe the fins are cut differently on the GT80 because of the different swoop of the exhaust, at least they were on the one I had.
Is the piston just swivelling on the rod or bearing, mine does that, and I will fix it one day but at the moment my 8 year old daughter is having too much fun following me, yes, it rattles a little bit, but by the sound of some on UTube, they all do!
To test for firing, take the plug out and squirt some straight gas directly into the cylinder, replace the plug and give it a kick, it should fire briefly, this will at least tell you the electrics are working ok. Early in my rebuild I had to do this as no fuel was getting to the cylinder, turned out that the carb needle was just too low to let any fuel out, I raised it all the way to get it to fire-up and then gradually dropped it and tuned the carb a little until it ran satisfactory.

if one primes the fuel pump, how does the one that charges the electronics work?
-
yes, absolutely, and outdoor all the way
-
not much money to be made by having shares in GRO and recommending Maxima.........which is what Borus said was a good choice.
-
-
Yes, it is the 75w so sounds like results similar to the GRO
-
I use Belray gear saver and have not had any clutch issues so far
-
whats wrong with the Sherco 125?
-
But isn't sag just an initial level of compression? if you adjust the compression so that when you get on the bike it sits down a little isn't that equivalent to static sag? I know that when I get on mine both front and back sit down at least a couple of inches.
