  1. Maybe not Di but SDI ... check out this link Best of balance. Neo
  2. No it's just that the oil (even if it's mixed in the fuel) has no chance of getting down past the piston leaving both the big end and the small end high and dry!! The conventional enging showing the fuel going past these bearings. So the question is....is this why Sherco redesigned their engine casings??? Best of balance. Neo
  3. Hey Tim and all this is what I found on Wiki today... The benefits of direct injection are even more pronounced in two-stroke engines, because it eliminates much of the pollution they cause. In conventional two-strokes, the exhaust and intake ports are both open at the same time, at the bottom of the piston stroke. A large portion of the fuel/air mixture entering the cylinder from the crankcase through the intake ports goes directly out, unburned, through the exhaust port. With direct injection, only air comes from the crankcase, and fuel is not injected until the piston rises and all ports are closed. Two types of GDi are used in two-strokes: low-pressure air-assisted, and high-pressure. The former, developed by Orbital Engine Corporation of Australia (now Orbital Corporation) injects a mixture of fuel and compressed air into the combustion chamber. When the air expands it atomizes the fuel. The Orbital system is used in motor scooters manufactured by Aprilia, Piaggio, Peugeot and Kymco, in outboard motors manufactured by Mercury and Tohatsu, and in personal watercraft manufactured by Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP). And as scooters have some association with Trials bikes this information looks significant to me. The full write-up can be found here under "In two-stroke engines" on Wiki. What's your thoughts on this gents? Best of balance. Neo
  4. 10,000rpm??? ... I didn't think a Trials bike rev'd up anywhere near that high Best of balance. Neo
  5. These are interesting .... I'll wait and watch with interest Best of balance. Neo
  6. Gasser....Hmmm ... I didn't forget them I seriously think they won't be a contender by 2013 .... Honestly I hope I'm wrong but haven't seen much change there since they introduced their new (now old) frame some time back....they should have made that 4T happen!! Just waiting for someone to say that I've forgotten the Evo now Best of balance. Neo
  7. I have that feeling (but no real evidence) that Ossa and Sherco are going to go head to head later this year. In the Green corner we have the new challenger... with a super lightweight, radical design and Fuel injection but maybe they've had a couple finishing issues in 2011 ... not surprising in their first year. In the Blue corner we have the reigning champion... with a revamped pedigree engine (that could even have Direct Fuel Injection by then) and a proven all round build quality ... not surprising in their 13th year either Just wanted your thoughts and comments on this ... and feel free to add any bit of information or gossip you got from credible sources such the local farmer after 15 pints of cyder Best of balance. 8. Sounds about right to me ... Soooooo much cheaper to implement Best of balance. Neo
  9. One thing that drives me crazy is breaking old spokes when I go to adjust the nipples. Yes I've tried many of the tricks to free them up but all of them fail to do that eventually. And once you've broken one spoke (on a Morad front rim) you have to loosen others (risking more breakage) to get that broken spoke out. As it turns out I'm now up for front wheel rebuild because of this. ....But it could have been avoided if the original wheel builder had just used a dab of anti-seize/marine grease on each and every spoke thread. I've grease up a number of my rims in the past and they are all still easy to adjust. But this particular front rim is one I couldn't do before (because I could feel they were too stiff) and now the spokes are all buggered.... and it's such a pain when I know this hassle and expense could have been avoided so easily So all I ask to all people in Trials...if you're building or rebuilding a rim PLEASE GREASE THEM NIPPLES for future sake. 10. Pretty much all Sherco 2T's. There is a way to bun it out that was very successful for me but you gotta be crazy (like me ) with no close neighbours to do it. Or you can play it safe and find someone that does a muffler de-coking as a service in your area. This may not be the cure to your problem but one way or the other the bike will benefit in the future....After that make sure you use Fully Synthetic 2T oil at 80:1. Best of balance. Neo
  11. So that's the clutch cover off for finger (and thumbs) simultaneous rocking of the clutch unit and the drive sprocket. ... is that right Cope? Hope that works for you Matt. Best of balance. Neo

    Whats the damage

This is interesting feedback. I tried to have the same thing done to my old shafts. But my fabricator friend my was concerned that the sleeve would not be hard enough compared to the original metal surface. But I'd guess that 18 months speaks for it's self ....so long as you don't have to pay more than

    Whats the damage

I've done this job a few times now .... Each time I've found the shaft was scored and needed replacing. One time (in desperation) I tried to reposition the seal so it would not sit on the score. But it still leaked (straight away) so I wasted my time, still had to buy a new shaft and do it all again. Best of balance. Neo

    New Ossa!

Hmmm in the eBay photo's the exhaust box looks like it's already had a bashing!! ... an I'm assuming that bike is brand new? Best of balance. Neo
  16. Hey Cope your generosity has no boundaries Best of balance. Neo
  17. Who recommend that on a Sherco? A sight glass is "weak and leak" spot anyway. One knock an it'll be p****** everywhere. Best of balance. Neo

    Stopping the dribbles

It's funny but I'm not keen on the stubby bit (even when it is the right colour). Just looks out of place to me so I much prefer the right coloured tube Everyone to their own Best of balance. Neo

    Stopping the dribbles

Amazing!! ... just found an answer to my own question ... 1 WAY FUEL VALVE/GAS STOP SHERCO, BETA,MOTOX,TRIALS,4RT Best of balance. Neo
  20. I have the standard arrangement of overflow tube off my fuel cap but I'm finding I get dribbles and drips onto the front mudguard (back end) riding down big steps or worst still stopping on those big steps. I want to find a way of not having all that fuel spilling over the bike or better still not having any spill at all. I've seen those fuel valves that go on a stubby tube above the cap but do they really work? Nothing would be worse than getting fuel all over my tank deals Or can I do anything cleaver with a longer fuel cap tube (routes and loops etc..)? .... Gas Gas used to have an in-line valve (air in only) can I get one of them from somewhere? Best of balance. Neo
  21. Hey chewy, These both look great. I assuming those bar clamp sliders are a precision fit to avoid any miss-alignment (or twist) with the bars.... in other words the bars alignment always stays parallel to the yokes ... if that makes sense?? Best of balance. Neo
  22. Gotta see them pics....move heaven and earth!!! I use Photobucket.com ... Upload you pics to Photobucket then copy the IMG (image) URL (link) from Photobucket, Then click on "Insert Image" in your next post on TC, then Paste the URL into that. Your pasted line should have the words "img", one at the start and one at the end of the URL line. Click Posting Images Tutorial too. Will you be selling your adjustable yokes and chain guards?
