  1. I have to say that the DID looks so tough by comparison I can't see one ever breaking .... with exception to some serious neglect. Best of balance. Neo
  2. Like I said the DID 520DS works a treat (if you don't need a half link) but it's heavier. Like no one listens to me!! - Best of balance. Neo
  3. I still don't like all that chain smack transferring onto those two hex bolts. If it's chain breakage you are worried about I reckon it would be better with a hard rubber block that covers the slave cylinder and rests up against the flywheel cover. Won't look so pretty but it would go a long way to absorbing the impact of a broken chain and protecting the case too. Please forgive my poor excuse for a drawing below...but hopefully you'll get the idea. Best of balance. Neo

    New Ossa!

Hey Cope where's my invite ...... and airline ticket Best of Ossa balance. Neo
  5. Those two bolts that hold the save cylinder in place are not that tough. Have you considered how hard the repair would be if the bolt were ripped out of the engine case by the chain??? I think your money would be better spent on a really high quality Trials chain (Regina 520EBXL or Renthal) ... or the right (narrow) heavy duty chain (DID 520DS) but only choose the DID if you don't need a half link. I normally ride my chains into the ground but I've not had one break yet. Best of balance. Neo
  6. Yes I read the same but I've since been informed that thats only good for 4T engines. Apparently Honda have a breaking-in process that goes over a week which was preformed on my bike by the previous owner (from new)... All I can say is it been a good engine to me. It's a 2006 engine that's had lots of use and the gear case has not been opened to date. I don't have the details of this but if you find it please let us know here. All the best. Neo

    New Ossa!

well worth it.....Not just a new carb and a set of decals like most of the other manufactures do. These Ossa guys have got balls!! Best of balance, Neo

    Sherco Fork Seals

The Allen head bolt is either not tight enough or (from memory) you need a new copper washer on that bolt.....These things normally go on and off with a rattle gun....but I've personally not had to use one for tightening. Best of balance. Neo
  12. Just had some thoughts on this. That spacer or sleeve goes in the carb outlet.... So it will increase the air velocity across the Pilot hole but not the needle jet...Hmm...might be a good thing ... but I'd hate to see that spacer come out and smash past the reed block one day Best of balance. 13. Isn't that website awesome!! ....has given me a few ideas too I fitted the VHST with a new pilot jet yesterday afternoon .... The bike ran so crap I took it straight back off again!!... then gave my OKO26 some hugs and kisses before refitting it. I need to buy a set of VHST pilot jets I can play with. But can't find anyone that sells them for an affordable number....So I may end up abandoning the whole project. Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco Fork Seals

And maybe double check you've got those oil levels measured right? I remember hearing all that noise when I didn't fill mine up properly too. Best of balance. Neo
  15. I love to learn this stuff Cope (and so do you) and I'll still have a perfectly good OKO26 after I've experience what a VHST26 can offer .... Who knows!!...certainly not me, if I don't try it. Best of balance. Neo
  16. Wow!!... many thanks for the detailed write-up Laser1 .... I must admit I'm tempted to get my VHST26 back on again now...so thanks for that. What they say about free advise only comes from those that charge for their advice. And in Australia we like to say "What goes around comes around" Best of balance. Neo
  17. Cope I think you could make some good money here. You wouldn't get much change out of $250 for a PHBL over here.... kinda makes me feel a bit when I think of what you can get it for. Best of balance. Neo
  18. Just to add to what cope said above. ...There are also some OKO's made in China which are not good quality... Firstly the ones I've seen do not have a Chrome slide so always ask about that prior to purchase.... Secondly they are a dull metal on the outside too....Thirdly they are sometimes half the price of the Thailand ones..... but if you wanted to get one for your Thumpster than be my guest An OKO side will not fit in a Kiehin Carb....but a Kiehin slides will fit in an OKO (slightly loosely). The Kiehin slide is great quality and I had no negative effects when I had one in my OKO....which I no longer do. The 30mm OKO has a vertical/elliptical opening so if you really craving power on your 290/300 it might be worth a shot. OKO Australia has done a good job at making Kits up for each Trials bike ... might be worth taking to them if you don't mind the price. Just remember that changing a carb is never a quick fix and it will take some degree of tuning to make it just right for you and your climate. Best of balance. Neo
  19. Hi Spark, Red VHST are a lot more expensive. So I hope Dellorto are not charging that for the red paint. You are the man then Please can you share with us what your current setup is??.... Main xxx Pilot xx Needle xxx Clip xnd, xrd, xth from the top Slide xx Mixture Screw x turns out Fuel valve xxx Atomiser jet xxxK Choke xx Atomiser height x.xmm Needle clip nd,rd,th from bottom (needle has 5 grooves) Gota go a buy myself one of them swept frequency US tanks ... what fluid do you use (water / methylated spirits)? ... and how long do you leave a carb in the tank for? Best of balance. Neo
  20. Chewy you can minimise much of this but you'll never eliminate all of it.... That's just Carburetion for you....Otherwise there'd be no reason to go Fuel Injection. Personally I think the OKO24(soft), OKO26(intermediate), OKO28(splatterman!) is a safe bet for the money ... much cheaper to buy and tune and they have proven themselves on many occasions. But one way or the other you're not going to get perfect running every day. These setting will get you going on an OKO or a Keihin. 110 Main jet 38 pilot JJH needle on 3rd (middle) clip Float level of 21 mm at 45 degrees Thedbf, "hard bangs instead of smooth"...is a great way to describe running a bit rich....and can happen at low or high throttle opening. Very easily rev'd up but takes quite some time to return to idle again....is a characteristic of running lean. Best of balance. Neo
  21. Hi Spark, I think you'd love the way I've tuned my OKO26 ...sounds just up your street to me But just to add another twist to this does anyone know anything about the Racing (Red) VHST's?...How are they better (or different) and why would they only be suited to racing? I would have thought that they're not suited to trials at all but I've seen some on Trials bikes...so what's the story? Best of balance. Neo
  22. Interest feedback Lumpylion. So do you find the VHST well powered up high on your 250? You really do this?? .... and it does a better job than an Airline? Best of balance. Neo
  23. That right a 55 would weaken it over a 50 but what's interesting is that I've had a similar result working on an OKO26. I had a bit of hunting but it was also a touch rich on initial throttle opening. So I ground the slide myself then adjusted the airmix richer...now things are much better. Best of balance. Neo
  24. Hi Coriolis, Which slide did you have in your VHST previously?... is that a 26 or a 28mm VHST? Best of balance. Neo
