  1. Me too I bought a VHST 26 some time back and I intend to fit it to my 06 250 but in-between waiting for the new jets to arrive I did a mod on my OKO 26 which makes the tuning just prefect (lively) for me. So I'm kinda reluctant to change it and tune it now. I rode a 2010 250 a few weeks back (which had a phbl) ... nice and soft down low but still with plenty up top too. Some say the 2011 250 has lots of power. I noticed that it has a base cylinder gasket of 0.4mm (Standard is 1mm). So if it's power you're looking for you might want to try that simple mod first. Thanks for starting this thread rockyrider. I hope many others join on in this one. Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco Fork Seals

Dead right Caddabs your garage has to be setup for working on bikes to some degree ... otherwise it's just not gonna work. Sawdust an carbs definitely don't mix either But it's not not so much "your limitations" it's just what to choose to focus on. My Garage use to have lots of wood and a car inside. But since getting into Trials both of those things would definitely be in the way The other thing is why would I pay some one else to do what I want to do and learn MYSELF ..... To me it's just all part of being involved in Trials. Best of balance. Neo

  4. You shouldn't need to do this if you are just adjusting it ... It must have seized some how ...They usually turn with just a thumb and finger.... Chris will sort you out. Just remember to put the bike on a centre and stand loosen the top fork yoke (two allen/hex) bolts before you loosen that Hex nut on the top of the tube. Oh and the handle bars have to come off too ... Might be best to remove it a take a look before you order the part. Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco Fork Seals

Do the whole job properly and put a set of socks on the bike at the same time. You'll benefit from the lesson and you won't get any more trouble after that.... It's not rocket science, you'll work it out. Best of balance. Neo
  6. Yes I've noticed that I have to keep putting fuel in the tank ... but can't figure out why You've bought a great bike so you can relax (a little). Best of balance. Neo

Thank Christ for that .... you really had me worried there If you find a shorter plug please let us know. Best of balance. Neo

    Short spark plug

H Drake, Check it's a NGK BP5ES? How long have you had this bike? ....because it sound like your plug may have been fitted cross-threaded in the past. After the first turn with a spanner it should unscrew with just the tips of your fingers. Best of balance. Neo

    290 for newbie

I think we've all had this experience when we first started ....But lots of commitment and patience will get you there Best of balance. Neo
  10. Just noticed that the Evo's fitted with a Keihin (An OKO is a Keihin copy)... the wrong way round?? Can anyone tell me how you go about adjusting the Idle and Mix on an Evo? Best of balance. Neo

    290 for newbie

Just be bloody good with the clutch and practise, practise, practise!!...Rev it up and slowly craw up a hill (not too steep!) If that's not enough for you and you are mechanically minded... This looks good Fit an OKO24 Carb .... Copemech and myself have both done this on our 250's. The 250 revs up quicker than the 290 .... so it can still get you into trouble without great clutch control. Best of balance. Neo
  12. Yep this seems to work for some people and not for others .... But no one has ever said WHY I reckon the Rev3 should get some kinda "Hall of Fame" for it's Carbs and Stators!! Personally I would aim to fit an OKO26 failing that a Dellorto VHST. Although the later is a far more expensive device. Your big problem is that you need Idle and Airmix screws on the opposite side to the one fitted on the Shecro's and GasGas's ... This guys knows alot about it http://oko-australia.com.au/ ... I think he's dreaming with his prices but it would be a quick fixup. Trial bikes have a number of common parts with scooters (believe it or not)... This place is good http://scootrs.com/results.cfm?q=pwk ... but the guy that runs it an arrogant pig! ... Please let me know if you find any other good scooter parts websites? But put up another post on TC and get the experiences of others that have fitted a Keihin or an OKO on a Beta before buying anything. Best of balance. Neo
  13. Hi Mcman. Do yourself a big favour and buy a different carb!!... otherwise you'll be doing this on a regular basis Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco water bottle

Yes good point Cope.... I guess I'm kinda spoilt riding at my own place all the time. Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco water bottle

1.5 to 2.0 ltr should be good. Try and get one that has a horizontal strap that snap clips across your chest ... the lower the better. Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco water bottle

I suppose you could fill it full of water instead of petrol .... but why would you want all that extra weight up so high on the bike? If you use a bladder backpack (Camelbak) it's weight shifts with your weight. So can work with you rather than against you. Best of balance. Neo

    oil mix 2010 bike

I've never had any problems at 80:1 (Castrol TTS) .... and I think I'm tired of saying that too ....anyone that runs more synthetic oil than that JUST AIN'T LISTENING!!! Yer clean the carb .... it just has to be learnt and done on a Trials bike. Best of balance. Neo

    Spokes and Nipples

Hey Cope, Thanks for that...I've sent an email to those guys so we'll see what they come back with. Also, has anyone seen Sherco fitting rear rims and spoke like this on some 2011 bikes? Best of balance. Neo

    Spokes and Nipples

Hi All, I'm looking to rebuild my wheels (starting with the rear) in the near future does anyone know where I can get hold of coloured spokes and nipples? I've seen nice black spokes on the 2010 bikes but what else is out there? Best of balance. Neo

    Any info

I rode a 2010 250 just yesterday and it was creamy smooth and very progressive....in our currently hot climate. Base gasket (according to Splat Shop) for the 2011 is 0.4mm but 1.0mm for the 2010 ... this might be telling us something?? My well tuned 2006 250 was producing more power with my OKO26....but only any good if you like it like that...thankfully (at my "soon to be" wrong side of 50) I do!! Chewy, your an experience rider so I'd lay odds that you're still looking at small fault on your bike somewhere. Best of balance. Neo
  23. Yes they look like the bearing shells you see on crank shafts in car engines... but they are constantly lubricated and I can't see how any lube could get inside these new things. Think I'll wait 12 months or so to see how they hold up on the 2011 bikes before investing in these new dogbones myself. Best of balance. Neo
  24. Yes Cope I'm with Lumpylion. That looks like a different dogbone .... Have you measured the inner diameter? A comparison of 2006 and 2011 Spare parts books shows both as C157..... BUT! (and this is the big but) the 2011 parts book shows the dog bones and bearing shells as one part number/kit. This implies to me that we are looking at a new dog bone now (impersonating and old part number) and Howards bearing shells are in fact correct. Best of balance. Neo
  25. Here's that reply... "These are genuine sherco replacement parts the part numbers are B/2964 and B/2965, they are most probably phosphur bronze with a zinc type coating" Maybe Sherco have settled on these then? Best of balance. Neo
