Hmmm... I wonder why Sherco has not made a fuss of this big change?
Just compared the Parts Books. The good news is that it's the same old Dog Bones (C157). So buying the new bushes, spacers top hats for both ends of the dog bones might make a good upgrade for older bikes....Does anyone have access to both old a new dog bones to do a direct comparison?

.... With the bike I assume? If anyone's mechanically minded consider fitting an OKO24mm Carb (it's not that hard...read past topics on this) then follow that with a timing change if need be.

You guys ever considered emigrating ... It's been far too hot to ride over here lately
Hey Cope, how about distilling that alcohol and using it for other things

Sorry Gents but that's an old GAS GAS frame ... don't bid!!!
If you take your time to can get the parts off of eBay and make the upgrade affordable but it will be hard to get an >06 fuel tank from eBay.
The frame would also be hard (but not impossible) to find. Your best chance would be an early 06 frame as many were changed under warranty for 07 frames so there'll be spare ones kicking around somewhere. If you get an 06 frame you'll need to have it strengthened before you fit it. It's shame your on the other side of the world to me as I have a spare one in my garage.

Hi Tony,
Have you considered knocking up some this stuff up for sale?... I don't think you'll be short on customers ....Just making better sleeves and TopHats would be a great way to start.

Here's my old collection of notes on this...
*********************
Jetted Sherco125 - 38/125 Standard Needle
Howard Wallace
I`m running a KeiHin with 38 pilot, 110 main,JJH Needle.
The 125 + 200 have a different crankcase casting, with a shorter length where the reed block mounts. This makes it a bit tighter, and the float bowl drain hex needs a chamfer to clear the top of the gearbox , also need a hose from carb to airbox about 50 mm long. I use the radiator hose off a car with the right diameters. It`s a bit of work to fit up, but the performance gains are well worth it.
Cheers, ShercoH
45/118 - stock unleaded fuel.
Cheers guys, fitted the b*stard last night. Haven't got my hands on jets yet, running standard 45/125 jets, JJH needle, clip in the middle position.
Air screw half a turn out and its near right, any further out and it just bogs down when you whack the throttle open from tickover.

But I will say it's a touch warmer over here at the moment ...hope you have a nice warm garage to work in?

And thats whats I've been running for donkeys years
This Thread has been great reading gents but I have to admit that I've never once bothered to read the label on a Castrol TTS bottle .... far too busy pouring it

Can't see why 2 Pak wouldn't work over some etch primer. I've been told that thats what Sherco use on the fuel tank ... never seen a tank flaking yet

Ok Dellorto parts on order.
They're a bit hard to find and quite expensive too ... hope it's all worth it?.... time will tell

Tuning tyres is like tuning suspension and one effects the other too. Be aware of the limitation and try-test, try-test, try-test, try-test, try-test, try-test, try-test, try-test!!

Just fitted mine today and WOW what a difference ... it's so much more progressive and landing and climbing rocks is much smoother now.
The other thing I like are the shock eye bushes are really tight and the there's next to no slack on the swing-arm now.... And my TRP is one or two years old and has been well used by the previous owner. I think this proves that these TRP's are great quality

Thanks again trialsnutterman.... At this rate Santa is bound to bring you something good this year
Amazing... this what my VHST came with (off of a Gas Gas)
Main Jet: 122
pilot Jet: 34 (S Type jets)
Needle: D48
Slide 50
SPRAYING conical needle seat (Atomiser jet) 270K
Float valve 300
I have Boyseen Reeds so from what Boyseen writes I need to lean the pilot and richen the main a bit. But whats your thoughts Gents on that Float valve ... is 300 too big?
"Atomiser height 1.5mm" is that the Atomiser bush we're talking about?

Great information ... thanks man.
Would you mind sharing your current VHST setup details with me?...And what altitude you're at?
Cope, I suspect you are right but I have to try this out because the PWK's are not as smooth as I'd like on the lows once the bike is well warmed up (on some days!). I can tell the VHST does not have that characteristic but at the moment it's not that smooth when it's revved up and lacks the midrange power I'm used to. But I'm assuming it's running a touch rich and needs more setting up.
Thanks again Gents.
Best of Christmas balance to you.

Wow this is crazy. I read that the VHST has been fitted to Trials bikes as far back as 2004 yet know one seem to know much about them.... Including some Dellorto suppliers.
Can someone please prove me wrong and enlighten me?

Has anyone else ventured this way?
Can you share your experience's?
ILoveTrials, is the Atomiser bush easy to change? ... Does it just pressed in?
My VHST came with a 5mm Atomiser bush and an "S" Type Atomiser (pilot) jet too.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for this...I'd forgotten that the Scorpa 4T uses a VHST.
The U Jets appeared to have larger side holes in the photos but I wasn't completely sure on that.
So just to clarify do you think the U Jets are for a 4T engine?...or are they just to raise the tick-over on any engine?
Do you stock the range of VHST Dellorto jets and other VHST parts?...
I also think I need a "VHSB/A Atomiser bush DQ / DP - 7mm" ... but need to confirm if this will fit the VHST?
Please drop me an email if you can supply any of this?

Yes that's good Cope but seeing as both jets look almost identical (scroll down on this page) and they are both specified as VHST spare parts I'm trying to understand why I would chose one over the other.... Might be a 2T of 4T setup thing?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
Just fitting a Dellorto VHST carb to my bike and need to play with the jets a bit.
So with the Idle (Pilot) Jet ... does anyone know the difference between the "S" jets and the "U" jets?
Best balance.

Thanks FFC.And you can add this lot to that list too.
Carbon Look Plastic TickBits Frame Guards.
Carbon Look Plastic TickBits Engine (Clutch side) Guard.
Carbon Look Plastic TickBits Full length Folk protectors.
Dellorto VHST 26
TRP Rear Shock ... Replacing the Caby Shock of course
It's around 9AM here and I've just got the bike covered in mud splatter while testing out the new VHST.
I'd forgotten how smooth these Dellorto's are of the bottom and how much dynamic range you can get out of that fuel screw. She's rideable as the VHST came configured but still room for improvement

Thanks Stork,
Just one question... how do I change/adjust the slide cutaway? And when you say "then set the main jet for wide open" do you mean "fit a large main jet"?

Hey who's knows... But it will not be a 2T (Current engine) ... Hate LH kickstarts and I'm not keen on that engine all round either....I do like the 4T though but weight is always a big consideration for me.
Lets hope that Beta make some big changes soon then

Had a change in circumstances on Monday (new job) so I've taken my bike off the market ... and it feels like Chrismas has come early for me this year.
Now it's back to the never ending search for Trials bike improvement
Had the chance to buy a second hand TRP Shock fitted with the light weight spring (rare as hens teeth) so I took that chance and will be fitting it in the next couple of weeks. Also decided today that it's time I got on and fitted that VHST26 (bought a few months back) and might have time to do this on Sunday.
It came off a GasGas so should be close enough to start her up but after it's fitted I'd like to follow a proven process for tuning the carb, as previously I've kinda done it on gut feel (think) ... I know this is hard question (a black art even) but what steps/checks would you follow to ensure your tuning your carb correctly for a trials engine?
Best of balance.
