Hi All,
I just had to throw this point into and open discussion ... just for a laugh
I was amused with a comment in an advertisement (on Trials Australia) for the Melbourne Motorcycle Show last week. It it suggested (in jest) that motorbike owners may not be interested in going to a SEXPO next door to the show.
But on the flip-side my wife once read (in one of her women's magazines) that men will often turn to activities like motorcycle sports when they are not getting enough "activity" at home (if you know what I mean). So just for a laugh I'd thought I'd mix these points up and throw them open to discussion? .... Would motorbike riders go to the Sexpo regardless of their level of activity?
Give us your thought (just to pass the time of day)?.... Please keep it dead clean but have a laugh too

I'd agree that your theory sounds solid but I haven't ever found that bolt lose on my bikes after seeing a crack.
So there must be more to it I think.....Cope you've been too quite on this subject
And what happen to Sherco's Customer Reassurance Department?? ... I mean it's not as if we're asking for our money back or anything.

Thanks joostio,
I see what you mean now. Those bolts are always a bit short but the ones I've worked of have always stayed secure. Did the thread your one strip or get damaged some how?
Cope knows more about these things than I

Sorry joostio,
Any chance of a photo or a sketch to illustrate this?

Also, thought I'd put up my finished job ... yet to be tested on the rocks
The brace plate is made of 2mm stainless steel. Hard but not brittle...Drilled and tapped out. With HS bolts and nylock nuts doubling things up.

Hi joostio,
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Yes I think it could be a contributing factor if the bolt was even slightly lose. But not sure it would have a big effect if the bolt's done up tight. In that case the ears would get good support from the engine casing at those points.
It's this kind of brainstorming stuff that will get us the solution in the end... Or maybe some at Sherco could kindly tell us what's happening??

Could be a stuck chicken valve ..... sorry, I couldn't resist it
Are the reeds completely closed?...You'd need to take the reed block out to check... and turning the reeds over would prove the point.

I've had this on my bike when I made the main jet too lean (May be partially blocked in his case)... not sure why the the main jet would effect initial throttle use but it did in my case.
Has he just got the bike or has he been playing with the carb?
Best of luck.

Maybe so Cope. I've not tested it so can't comment....But in many ways, when 2nd gear has been ratio'd up close to what 3rd used to be, why would it need to?...why not just ride up in 2nd?I'm sure that much of differences in opinion here are because of the different terrains we ride ... But I am finding it good for ME! (so far anyway)

Yes my description made it sound like we're mainly trail riding but we're not....Having said that the bike needs to be usable on the flat too and it was getting up into 3rd just 20 feet from start-off so it was kinda crazy and there's NO WAY I would have made the ratio lower.
Anyway I'm still testing the 10T on the rocks but early results are very promising for our 125 anyway. 1st to 3rd still seems to pull up anything but admittedly I've yet to test 3rd on longggg hill climb....might do that in a few days time.

Awesome update Sirhc .... thanks for that.
Interesting that you have lowered the overall gear ratio...where as only yesterday I fitted a 10 tooth (from 9 tooth) front sprocket on our 125 because it was zipping though the gears like a rocket...still has tons of low-down pull and one test rider commented that it rode a bit like my 250 even
Also, when you have the flywheel lighten would you do me a big favor and let me know what the final flywheel weight is?

Now thats a challenge
Sorry gents but based on my "Flame Throwing" experience with my silencer (Cope knows ) if I can get use of an Oxy I'm game for this method ....unless anyone in Aus can tell me who does this kind of thing around Sydney/Central Coast???
Just working on the plugs now!

Hi MIKEE,
How are you going with this?
Just to let everyone know that I tried the Freezer trick on my standard Sherco header pipe. The dents are pushed out gradually so the pipe has to be frozen and thawed a number of times.
Well all I can say is that it makes good progress until such time as bloody pipe splits it's seem at the bottom (lowest area) of the pipe. This happened on the 3rd freeze for me.
So I would NOT recommend this method to anyone.... I'm a bit peed to say the least but I've been looking for a good excuse to buy a new one anyway

You'd be crazy to carry on riding the bike with this problem....blocked hole or not!!
All the ones I've done have had scores on the impeller shaft so I'd budget for a new one if I were you....sorry!

No I actually think the OKO 24mm is much better for novice trials but the 26mm is a good compromise of smooth control and power.
But at the end of the day the choice is really yours.
