  1. Hmmm..... OK if I have this right both new and old stators have the same readings on the same wires (including the flicker/Error)....and you got exactly the same results with another digital meter.....correct??...I hope it was a different type of meter too? Lets assume the new stator is working OK. Did you buy it from a local Sherco dealer?...if so, if you don't fit it you should be able to return it for a credit note at least. If it was me I'd get a new plug and start testing again. Where possible swapping suspect parts with others I could get my hands on.....Look for that spark in a dark room.....and make sure the the side of the plug is held firmly on an unpainted engine bolt or something. Failing that are you brave enough to try this?.....Take the plug out of the engine...stick your finger all the way up inside the rubber spark plug cap and gently wind over the kick start with your other hand ....yes if it's working you will get a shock....but it will only sting your finger.....and at least you'll know there is some current there. The other tactic is to take you the stator and your bike to your dealer...and pay him to fix it.....just depends on how important or how frustrating this situation is to you. Best of balance. Neo

    New Bars

Wow! are they that cheap over there.....same price as the rest of them over here!! Good choice Best of balance. Neo
  3. Hmmm...you got me thinking... remembering Cope. I running that -2 spring set! too....I love it too. But I don't think that will effect my test results.....for what happen to most Sherco's out there.....funny how my 2002 was less prone to this but it still happened. 5 perfect "stone cold engagements" and counting At this this stage I can at least claim that there is a significant improvement.....But please wait until I have had time to inspect the oil that comes out of the box in a few weeks time. 4. Thats a Mont....they use Showa. I've been using 2.5wt for a few years now.....I'm a l lightweight so it suites me fine. And the damping adjustment does work. Best of balance. Neo

Your call.....we all have to learn what works Best of balance. Neo

    New Bars

Do yourself a favor.....don't use adaptors.....so don't buy fatbars. Both of these things will change the dynamics of the bike and how you ride it. I've recently bought Rental (not fitted them yet). They look good but not as good as the standard cross brace Sherco bars....still the best in my mind because the bend is spot on (for me) and they are strong too. Try not to read to much marketing hype about how strong bars are Best of balance. Neo
  7. Hmmm.....that looks good....but how do you know you've put in exactly 450ml?....because if you put only 450ml in the bottle then I'd guess that some of that will remain in the pump mechanism? Best of balance. Neo
  8. Come on Tony, it's just 450ml ....surely it takes longer to undo those 4 bolts, remove the cover, put back the cover, then put the 4 bolts back again.....than it does to poor the oil down that hole?? Or maybe my impression is wrong because I've been using Castrol Edge for 2 years now. BTW....Things are getting colder at night around here and my bike has not been ridden for 3 days. Started her up, pulled in the clutch and clicked her into 1st with just the front brake on. There was a twitch but the bike stayed standing and engine kept running!!.....looking good, but still testing Best of balance. Neo
  9. Nice one Cope I suppose with the bike lying on it's side you can give the "twist on pointy end" half a turn into the hole and let it go. .... A bit like a baby sucking on it's on it own bottle I think I've been looking for a good excuse to get rid of that ketchup anyway! Oh and in answer to your question Caddabs. Within mineral oils some people change it as often as every ride. But since going over to Synthetic I'm changing mine once every couple of months. I'll do this with the Nulon soon...just to see how it's coping. Best of balance. Neo
  10. I'd agree with ZIPPY on that....and I have heard it eventually soaks into the clutch plates too....But I know ATF is very popular with GasGas owners. Castrol Edge Sport pours in easy into the filler hole and Nulon 100% Synthetic 5W-30 pours in even easier Let us know how you get on with the filler cap mod....I'd been thinking about a mod to that cap myself, just this morning Best of balance. Neo
  11. No idea I'm afraid... Is there a reason you ask? Best of balance. Neo
  12. I always lie the bike on it's side. I use an adjustable strap from my handle bars to a wall fixing behind me so I can set how much I want it to lean over. But you could rest the bike on it's bar end if you like. If you force the oil in with anything like a turkey baster I think it with spit back at you....then you'll loose track of how much oil has gone into the gearbox....It's only 450ml...so patience is the best practice really Best of balance. Neo
  13. I'd guess we can't go far wrong with 90:1 then ....might switch this ratio myself Nothing hard about cleaning out a Sherco muffler....I've done two and had a great time with both!!! Best of balance. Neo
  14. Thanks Tony, I've been checking into this with a more local company "Hi Octane Racing".....looks like the way to go I think Best of balance. Neo
  15. Hi All, I have for some time been in search of the perfect Sherco Gearbox oil. 1. Affordable in 5 Liter container from a car accessory shop 2. No clutch drag from stone cold/first engagement 3. Smooth clutch action 4. No slip once the clutch is fully engaged 5. Low or no clutch squeal I have for some time believed that Castrol Edge Sport was as close as I could get to perfection. But I found that if the bike was not used for a few days or it was a really cold morning then the clutch would still drag from stone cold/first engagement. So after spending some time in SuperCheap Autos I think I have another good candidate....Nulon 100% Synthetic 5W-30 Long Life Diesel and Petrol Engine Oil. It's not cheap oil but it is 5w30 synthetic oil which has served me well to date. I'm still testing it but early results look promising. Best of balanced. Neo
  16. That difference really depends on if you use mineral oil (at 50:1) or synthetic (at 100:1). Many of us have been using synthetic oils somewhere between 80:1 and 100:1 for many many years so you can't go far wrong with that. Remember you are asking forum members for their opinion and everyone in the forum does their best to help......But if you don't trust the replies then what was the point of asking in the first place? Best of balance. Neo
  17. Hey Cope, Did you get a chance to take a close look at that 2010 header pipe while at TTC....do you reckon it will fit? Looking at photos looks very close. Has anyone else got some insight on this? Many thanks. Claudio

    Sherco Carb

Not enough pressure and you introduce water vapor too....both bad Best of balance. Neo
  19. Yes that HPC stuff looks fantastic. But it's really getting away from what I'm trying to achieve. Something that is easy to touch-up or repaint after it has been scratched....I'm really not worried about it being shinny. Best of balance. Neo

    Sherco Carb

Pilot and main jets must be blown out with compress air. Sounds like the pilot is obstructed to me. Best of balance. Neo
  21. The Pipe looks taty now. I can get the dents out with the ice treatment...but the finish will look bad unless I do something with it, or buy a new one.....any other suggestions? Best of balance. Neo
  22. Hi Gents, Does anyone know if a SHERCO 01 FRONT EXHAUST PIPE will fit an 07 bike? Is the new muffler box in a slight different position to the previous black frame bikes? Bes of balance. Neo
  23. Has anyone painted a Sherco header pipe and made a success of it? I'm looking at some VHT (760degF) high performance paint like this stuff - LINK ...but I really want a brush-on paint so it's easy to touch-up later. PPC do make some paints that don't leave brush marks. Can anyone share there experiences and knowledge with me? Best of balance. Neo
  24. Great....thanks for the quick reply RED Best of balance. Neo
  25. I've only ever had one pair of Gearne (ride most days for the past 4 years) so I wouldn't really know. But I thought the name of the game was flexibility around the ankle for the constant knee bending stuff?...Isn't ridged ankle support what you get on MX boots? Would be nice to know if Gearne have the same flexibility around the ankles as Hebo do? Best of balance. Neo
