    tube or tubeless ?

Well if you get the Rim tape to work it will be a great learning experience Yes the silicon is a hard to clean-up next time. But you can use marine grease in the tracks (either side of the band) and on the back of the nipples (stops em rusting). And that cleans up easily with spray degreaser and an old toothbrush. One last point. Without an inner-tube you can use the "Dog Turd" inserts to repair a tyre puncher without taking the tyre off .... But I must say that I've never had one of those on a trials tyre in 6 years of riding Trials It's weird but novice riders tend to do the Tube. And then intermediate and experts tend to do the band but the the Trick (show) riders go back to the tube because they keep popping the tyre off of the rim with all that sideways movement. But at the end of the day it's your call.... good luck Best of balance. Neo

    tube or tubeless ?

If you are the kind of rider that puts A LOT! of power through the back wheel than the tube will eventually let you down as the tyre can spin on the rim and rip the vale stem off of the tube. But my guess is that 80% of riders don't ride like this. One other consideration is the extra weight on the rear wheel which makes it harder to hop the back wheel. Best of balance. Neo PS... I personally go to the trouble of fitting a rim tape and ensuring the tape and tyre bead are sealed ... but sometimes I wonder why I bother

I wouldn't wait too long to get that done as that means your bike is currently running a dry gearbox which may even need replacing soon. I'd stop riding it if I were you Best of balance. Neo
  5. Not surprising either as both of those engines have been kicking around (with minimal update) for donkeys years Best of balance. Neo

    Coolant hose clips

Funny I had the thought yesterday that I can put two of these nylon clips on the hose. One good and tight to seal the hose an another left loose incase the main one gives up I have an instant standby which will get me home. I have a small box of the ones I bought so I can easily afford to have a hot standby lol! Best of balance. Neo

    Clutch question

That's true but also it comes down to the oil you use or the crappy oil someone else might have used in he past. Once there's no tacky residue on the plates then using a synthetic 5w 30 oil will fix this problem for good. Best of balance. Neo

    TR 280

Very good point but I personally believe that a very good oil should also be affordable a easily to buy. So it can be changed regularly without spending a fortune. So I would invest my time finding that lubricant rather than paying the ridiculous prices that most motorbike shops charge for remarketed oil. Best of balance. Neo

    TR 280

Ok thanks Samy, ... no worries. Hi Steveo, You have obviously achieved something tha many have not and I congratulate you on that .... But what have you done to achieve that? Just confirming I understand those measurements you've given me. Are you measuring from he closest point (usually mid-length point of the leaver) back to the bar/grip? Or are you measuring from the ball-end to the grip? Best of balance. Neo

Thanks Samy. Now that it's all setup and working (without drag?) for you could you tell me the distance (gap) between the handlebar grip and the clutch leaver when your clutch leaver is all the way out? Best of balance. Neo

There's a lot to be gained from an OKO26 carb in terms of power .... but my guess is you'd be happier on a 290. Best of balance. Neo

What level of rider are you?
  22. Yes loads of them... Best ones I've found are Ariete ARI. 032 Don't stuff around cleaning/fixing the old seals. Get em out. Washout the tubes with Kero/Parrafin and do the job properly. Then fit a new set of fork socks and they won't trouble you for ages. Best of balance. Neo
