I think the Chinese made ones are modified TS185 pistons
Best bantam mods are Suzuki piston & centre-fire head (Todd head or similar)
-
4 speed bantams D14's & B175's have been used in pre65 from the start, have a look at some of the old pictures posted!
(And most had Suzuki pistons fitted)
-
Its not worth it, the cases are different.
It would be better to find a 4 speed engine
-
Measure the distance between centres then add a bit of simple maths (or use a program off the net) and that will give you the correct length
428 chain has a ½” pitch
try this:

Most tend to be used on wasteland, canals ect... the ones stolen for profit tend to be broke for spares
I had a new mx bike stolen many years ago, they tried to sell it to a breaker (who I happened to know) he rang the police and they didn’t even come!
-
Unfortunately off road bikes have always been the choice of thieves!
Easy to pass on and very light punishment (at best) if they get caught
-
I don’t mind doing a bit of observing, but I would draw the line at administering first aid.
-
Too right, my shed's hot as hell today
Its melting my billet yokes!
-
This thread will run for longer than a Chinese engine
-
I had a similar problem many years ago on a 1990 KTM, the plugs would only last one meeting (or less) then they wouldn’t work again
I tried all sorts, timing, carb setting, plug caps, different make of plugs ect......
In the end I swapped all the ignition components, and it worked perfect after that
I also retried the original ignition, and the problem returned!?!?!

Welcome aboard, nothing new about stupid questions around here
-
Yet another pre65 handbag fight!
A 1961 motor cycle magazine had the results for a classic trial held for pre WWII and earlier bikes, so maybe 1972 wasn't the first classic trial?
-
-
Or its 50/50 if the missus will let him ride
-
-
That would only work if the both have the same number of teeth?
-
the fork oil should be thin
-
Were did you get the cast iron from, I want a piece to do pursang drum.
I deal with loads of metal suppliers at work, not one can supply cast!
-
Are you for real!!!!!!
I’d be quite happy to run you over with my 2T mx bike if you want to give it a go?
-
The bikes need to be lighter, I won’t be happy until I’m filling my tyres with helium
-
I'm using silkolene at the moment, what's the problem with it?
you've got me worried
-
You may be right, but my experience with Chinese machine tools is they are crap!
I would much prefer to buy American, British or Japanese built machines.
Chinese micrometers do make good little G-clamps though
‘Buy cheap buy twice!’
-
so what's wrong with a tornado then, we had one making parts for years never a minutes trouble
Mori Seiki are fantastic machines, but so are HAAS so how are they any better?
Have you ever used a HAAS?
-
What's wrong with HAAS (not hass) machines then?
And a Colchester Tornado is a toy CNC machine, what would you recommend?
And Dadof2: I’m yet to see a Chinese CNC that’s any good, unless you like lots of down time (I know as I used one, when it would work)
-
A bantam is probably the best choice, but the cost depends on how competitive you want it!
the more you can do, the cheaper the project
