  1. Looking at the picture there is hardly any carbon on the piston!
  2. no, just keep riding it and have fun (ICMTR = fantasy made up rules, just to cause trouble)

I sold a cub hub with a 21" steel Dunlop rim for £110 about 18 months ago (ebay auction) if that helps?

Excellent for motocross, not so good for trials
  5. I can only get one in my berlingo, but I put one on the back with a bike rack
  6. Not sure on the grades, but I use silkolene light gear oil in my beamish and it seems to work well. It might be worth changing the seals anyway as its only an 1 hours spanner work at the most
  7. How about this in the rules, all riders must observe at least 3 trials a season or your license will not be renewed?
  8. Rider at 5:20 is using a all alloy GP barrel on a triumph …!!! Some of the moaners, and perfect rule makes would be up in arms about that
  9. Who actually says the sport has a problem, I don’t hear many moaning at trials? Most riders just seem to enjoy the events, ride their bikes and go home! If you don’t like the clubs rules, then don’t ride there….simple
  10. A classic trial with modern Chinese engines and wheels, not for me…! Maybe you should ask for a class with the modern trials events?
  11. Or just take out the plastic bung and put a bar in for extra leverage looks weak, a ground anchor would be better
  12. One thing to remember when skimming brake shoes if they are new old stock or you are unsure of the lining materials make sure they are not asbestos! New lining should be fine as asbestos has been banned for quite a few years
  13. I wouldn’t go any leaner than 40:1 on an air cooled! Try it on some synth oil, if it doesn’t clear up then it my be the crank seals. I’ve not had a Montesa for a few years but if I remember correctly they are quite easy to change. (you don’t need to pull the engine apart to change them)
  14. I run my beamish on 40:1 on modern synthetic oil and its pretty much smoke free It could also be the crank seals causing the smoke
  15. The first new ACU should be: Any persistent moaners should face a lifetime ban and be advised to take up another sport Second rule: Anyone still using original BSA forks should be classed as insane
  16. I’m quite happy with classic trials & twinshock as they are, 99% of the people I speak to are of the same opinion And I’m very grateful people spend the time to organise them Just seems to be the same few who moan all the time?
  17. It’s hard enough to find observers, let alone someone to weigh all the bikes Anyway who said there is anything wrong with classic trials, it’s only the same small minority that keep moaning about it! To be fair if you turn up with a bike with a Chinese engine wheels & brakes plus a frame of your our design, do your really expect to ride and be included in the results?
  18. I'll ride my gasgas in the pre65 then and leave the bantam at home
  19. Just out of interest, it has C90 on it but how much was manufactured by Honda?
  20. Its cost £1000 + many hours of work to build a bike that’s not really suitable for modern or classic trials with a Chinese engine! Yet it’s possible to purchase a good usable twinshock for around £800 - £1000 that can be used at twinshock & modern trials So what’s the point of the project, because it’s not really a cheap way into classic trials?
  21. I really can’t see the point, surly you could buy a reasonable twinshock bike for the same cost! It looks terrible with it Chinese engine!
  22. Sorry, I didn’t mean that one, I was referring to the one at the top of the thread. (Charlie’s)? I quite like the one in the picture you posted, it looks more period.
  23. It looks like you have done a nice job, have you modified the gearbox? But I can’t really see the point, I’ve just picked up a really nice standard beamish for £800 and I can ride this in any twinshock without any problems!
