Does anyone know if Norton Villiers are still going, I’ve sent a couple of emails with no reply?
I keep meaning to ring but its not always easy when I’m working!
-
A minute amount
you would lose more past the seals or leaking from the bolt at the bottom.
Even new seals leave a fine layer of oil on the forks
-
Email gasgas uk your frame number, they will identify the exact model & year
They are very helpful

I have a knackered big end, not sure how bad it is as I’ve not had the engine running (it has about 0.001” – 0.002” play)
Do I need to replace the crank pin and con rod or is there an inner & outer race?
And can I split the crank with a 5 Tonne press?
-
I’m after some tyres for my pre 65 project; I’ve overspent on all the other parts so I’m after some cheapish ones!
Anyone know if the mitas are any good for the front, and anyone tried the goldentyre GT255 I’ve read in previous post they have issues with cracking?
-
Yes, I’ve done that before!
If you have a look they are tapered, when they are facing the wrong way the heel hits the cam a lot harder
Just make sure that it hasn’t cracked the stellite faces
-
The B25 motor had a tendency to bend the rocker arm shafts when over revved, causing the tappet (rocker arm) to stick. causing problems like you have
I had this happen a few times when I did moto-cross!
-
It looks like it would repair fairly easily, find a good tig welder to do the job
-
Thank you
Is the 13tooth front sprocket for 428 or 520 chain?
-
Yes, I have the 25T - 17T standard gearbox but will this cause me any problems?
And what rear sprocket do I need with the above setup?
-
I’ve checked the gear ratios on my Villiers 32a motor and it has standard set (As opposed to the wide ratios), does this mean it’s a road bike gearbox or the standard fitted to trials bikes?
Also I have a 20T primary drive sprocket and a 15T gearbox sprocket, what would be the best size for the rear sprocket?
-
I’ve altered the rear suspension mounts slightly and this is giving me 11” clearance with 360mm shocks
With what Jon's said above I think I’m happy with this amount
The bike is a bantam with a cub sub-frame and a Villiers 32a engine!
-
What would be a reasonable amount of ground clearance for a pre65 bike
I’ve just measured my frame and I’m getting about 10 to 11” with 360mm shocks
-
Whats the correct plug for a villiers 32a engine?
-
What would be a better way, I’m always open to suggestions?
Also whats the going rate for a reasonable engine & box?
-
I’ve completed my trials project rolling chassis, but I’m now stuck for an engine!
Does anyone know where the best place to find a Villiers 32a or 37a engine? (I’ve placed an ad in the classifieds)
How hard is it to find just an engine, and would the earlier 9e engine be worth considering?
-
Earl Shilton club is worth joining, they have their own land so you can practice there any time you like
-
-
Excellent thread, and top marks to Sammy miller products
It’s good to know there are still people who care about their customers

Earl shilton is good, worth the journey (I’m also in Wolverhampton)
They are holding a trial this weekend, it might be worth popping over for a look, they also have a very easy route for beginners!
-
You could try Shatterford Bewdley, its £10 per bike. good place to practice
-
I’m thinking about using one, not for support, just to hide the beer belly!
-
Don’t bother with old plugs, you’ll just waste your time
Buy a couple of new ones & make sure you set the gap correctly
