I’ve noticed my bike as hairline cracks across the headstock gusset plates
I know this is common but what’s the best way to repair, or can it be left alone?

Don't worry about finding neutral, its never been easy on a GG most riders use there hand!

Don’t worry about it too much, it probably won’t last long but just use the bike until it starts smoking again
At least you will know whats wrong when it does

Never seen one with a hole in like that, but it looks like its installed correctly (hard to tell from a picture)

nothing wrong with putoline, like you say it probably needs a good run

shouldn't smoke at 50:1 that's what I run my gasser on and its smoke free
I use Silkolene Comp2 or Castrol TTS with very little smoke

would it fit in if you dropped the handle bars?

If you want expect it to perform like a TY then you will be disappointed, they are very different to modern(ish) trials bikes!
Power weight and handling are all very different

GG Water pump impellers have a habit of failing, might be worth checking (new ones £10 on ebay)
The water will boil with the cap removed, that’s why it’s pressurised to stop it boiling
Its not a sealed pump, 3 cap screws hold it together

Inflate with helium?
Not too much though, or the bike might float off

I run ATF (dexron II) in my gasgas and it works well

the frames been rusty as well, its just had the rust polished off!
and what's going on with the kick start!?!?!

The bargain days are over, someone has one on ebay for nearly 5k…
I bought a very nice one in 2009 for £400
and another in 2012 for £800

Drain it and start with fresh fluids

That's total BS! I’ve observed for years and only ever had one incident, and that was a minor one!

Can’t really see the need for ABS on an horse, but some EU bureaucrat as probably proposed it..

It wouldn’t be difficult to manufacture a replacement mudguard for the correct number plate, but how many people would actually buy one!
I can really see the DVLA changing the size of digits for trials riders…
