Feel for ya dude, but you will mend and have learnt never to get too cocky with sections.....they can bite back.....as we can all testify, if we're honest.
-
BUGGER.....and it always turns to sh*t when your getting ready for a deadline. . take heart my friend, the worst that can happen is you ride the bike with a crazed paint job, something you can sort out after the trial. . .
-
that;s exellent. I always thought falcons were expensive....but not so. I'm in N.Z., does he ship world wide?
-
just put it together and ride , most classic trials bikes are bitsas any way...and many road bike too as stuff gets canibalized to keep stuff running. only the concours dudes fuss over matching numbers...can't see the point myself.
-
ok bud, now take it apart and give us the vital statistics on all the settings.
-
not sure what jetting they come with, as the carb was on the bike when i got it...and the previous owner and one before that hadn't fitted it....so no idea where it came from or what jets it came with. are you just getting it off evil bay, or is it from a shop selling specificly for the TLR? be interested to see what arrives and how it works....not done any more at mine due to riding other stuff...but will get it sorted one day.keep us posted mark.
-
i've read that 6061 is good stuff for 'billet' parts.....so maybe 6068 is better still...any metalergists out there care to comment? give it a google, and see what info you can find.
-
hi original, be great to see a 305 been used in anger, they as rare as rocking horse poo.....get the thing going and enjoy yourself. post a picture or two if you can, good luck with the renovations.
-
nothing realy noticable on my mates tl...but he knew it had done a lot of work as he had it new way back when fred flintstone was a kid. it was running fluffy and when we pulled the plug it was well sooty. tried the new needle and needle jet...huge improvement. sure i read this tip on here somewhere. might not be your problem, but worth bearing in mind if nothing else seems to fix it for you.
-
yes, they do run very close as standard....and there's no room for the mud to 'escape'
-
hi BRB, do you know what pistons are used for the 400 twin?
-
my matesTL125 was doing the same....ran ragged when hot. turns out the needle and needle jet were rooted, causing it to run rich when warmed up...popped a new set in and all was good.
-
thangshhh Broooneee, hic, good luck weeth the hiiighland...burp!
-
hi guy's, we got the bearings from pyramidparts, shipped very quick and at a great price....cheeper than the bearing shop!!! been fitted for a few weeks now, was a nice easy fit and working well.
-
broony....we need pictures i'll have a glass or two while we wait.
-
how about some fine sand mixed with grease?
-
amazing pictures, just increadible the rocks those guys can ride over. also spotted dick g, and andy b in the crowd...now know why you weren't riding with us on sunday:-)
-
-
crazy...you wouldn't want to get the tyres dirty, which is a real shame, as trials bikes are made to be used. then again, if your a pop star, pro footballer, or just won lotto....it would be pocket money!!!!!!
-
nick, can't remember off the top of my head....will check when I get home tonight.
ok, here we go....pilot 30
needle jet M
needle groove #1 (needle in lowest possition)
slide 2.0
main 97.5
still not happy with top end running, but been too busy to sort out, first half of throttle good though. hope this is of some help.
cheers trev

hi totalshell,
I agree in most cases compressed air is enough....BUT in this case... and a few others I've read regarding older carbs that have not been used for a while, you can end up with HARD deposits in the pilot system which air willnot blow out, only careful persuasion with piano or guitar wire will shift it.
Bloody marvelous you got it sorted at last Brucey, have some fun now with your riding.
-
Yeh, the magicals are the bizz......but just about the price of half a bike!!!!!!
-
-
Spent far too much on it!
yes maybe, but what a superb job you've done. are my eyes playig tricks on me, or is that a carbon fibre expansion chamber on there....and what brand of shox you using?
